Summary: Good Value for your money
Review: This printer is a great value at the price you are paying for it i really believe you get a lot. Fast black printing speed, although i must say i have printed some photos on special paper and print time is SLOW. The paper tray doesnt hold much paper, although the ink lasts a long time your gonna have to buy 3 cartdriges when its time for new ones. This printer is loud not printing but when it is actually feeding the paper into the printer it makes a loud sound which i didnt like. Otherwise fast clean and crisp, easy to install.

Summary: A GREAT Printer !!
Review: I bought the Epson C80 printer about a month ago, and have had a great time with it! The print quality is exceptional, speed is great, and the price is even better! The printer prints great high-quality, smear-free prints that are true to acual color. Spooling seems to take about 5 sec. before it starts doing anything, but once it gets going, it is exceptionaly fast. I would highly recomend this printer to anyone seeking a fast, high-quality printer, at an afordable price.

Summary: Much quieter than the old ones....
Review: We used to own an Epson Stylus 600. It was very loud when printing and especially when you first turn it on.
This C80 is so quiet compared to the old model.
When we turn it on we barely hear it start up.
The only noise you hear when printing is when the printer is pulling the paper into the printer, but the actual printing is very quiet.
It is very fast when printing black & white text.
We have not tried printing a large picture. When we printed a newsletter with small pictures the printing was very sharp.

Summary: Decent for the price, but no prize winner here
Review: I bought this because I saw a good review in a technical magazine, it was under $200, and it came with a $30 rebate.

As soon as I got it I tried out the printer to see the quality of the print. I found that the comments about the pathetic text quality was right. The text printing is only crisp when in Fine mode. Economy and Normal are the modes below Fine. I used a $40 Apollo printer and got better results in economy mode than I did in the Fine mode of this $169 printer. Sad, because the Apollo 2100U uses OLD HP technology.

The photo quality on plain paper between Fine and Photo mode was almost no difference. The pictures were blurry in both modes, I suppose from bleeding. I couldn't find my photo paper to test the photo paper, but I would expect that to be better. Again I must say that the Apollo 2100U did better on plain paper wth photos than the Epson. The Apollo only does 300x300 in color, which says alot about the poor out put of this Epson printer.

I must say that the Advanced options for printing are a little overwhelming. It use to be the only options you got were whether you wanted to print in color or black and white and maybe three options on how crisp you wanted the output to look. The new options seemed endless and finding what works the best for whatever you are printing is a complicated task.

I will only use this Epson for color printing, which has become more frequent lately. I have an HP LaserJet 4 for text documents. Once I get the photo paper I'll see what the Epson does. If the quality is unacceptable I'll end up taking it back.

Summary: Very muted colors
Review: I already have a decent inkjet, but I wanted one with higher resolution and better photo-realism. I read reviews about the C80. The resolution on it is fantastic. But, after running 4 hours of trials on it (in a serious attempt to achieve decent color), I decided to return it. On my other printer (only 1440 dpi) the colors are crisp, rich, and sharp -- especially the blacks. Looking at conventionally developed photographs, the same can be said. On the C80, the colors are VERY muted -- DULL. I called Epson, and they confirmed that the archival inks have a different tone than their standard inks. The Espson driver doesn't even offer an independent control over the black saturation (even though it does provide one for cyan, magenta, and yellow). If you're looking for realistic photos, this is NOT the way to go if color is important.

Summary: Fast and quiet, except for the sheet feeder
Review: Overall, I am very satisfied with my new printer. The only disappointment so far is un-boxing it an finding no manual or software in the box. After contacting Amazon, they directed me to Epson. Epson has only two ways to contact them, a toll number or snail mail. I opted for snail based on other reviews I read of long hold times (i figured they would probably ask me to mail them something anyway). If all goes well that problem should get resolved.

I downloaded the drivers from Epson's website and all is working well. I graduated from a Canon BJC-4300 that I have never been happy with. It had very small ink tanks and the print head kept clogging.

The color is great, and the print quality really beats the HP I use at work. I have yet to smear the ink. I can't say that about any other inkjet I have used.

I would give it a five if it wasn't for the lack of manual, software, and a rather noisy sheet feeder.

Summary: Great Printer
Review: I was very impressed with the spead of this printer. While I haven't clocked the actual ppm, it is much faster than most other laser jets that I have used.

While powering up is a little noisy, the rest of the process is exceptionally quiet, and the ink comes off the printer dry to the touch.

Text came out clear at the standard sizes, but I have not tested small fonts or italics, which some people have had problems with.

The graphics I tested it on (some digital photos) came out very well, and the driver contains ways for you to adjust the speed, color, and other features of the printout.

While some the advanced options in the driver can be intimidating at first, it did not take long for me to learn most of the functions.

The individual ink tanks were a major selling point for me, and it these tanks that convinced me to go with the c80 instead of the Epson c60 or equivelent.

The footprint of this printer is a little larger than my previous HP CSE 660, but this isn't a major problem unless you are short on desk space.

This printer has a high duty rating, and would probably be best suited for small/home offices, though I will be using it for my personal computer at home.

Overall, I recomend this printer. Just make sure you buy your own USB cable to attach it with- as with most printers, the cable is not included.

Test system-GAteway 770, Win98, 256meg RAM. Plain white printer paper.

Summary: An excellent printer, but..
Review: I purchased the C80 a week ago based on reviews I had read in several publications and because the Epson Stylus 850 I had before produced beautiful photo results (alas it died from clogged print head syndrome). Installation on my PowerMac was a snap. The printer does load paper with a bit of a snap but prints quietly and quickly. I should say that the initial print results were very disappointing. The photos came out dull and rather lifeless. So I actually returned the printer and got a second C80 (I didn't want to give up on it just yet!). The second printer gave me much better results--although the photos were still on the dark side (I've had to adjust the brightness on the photos I scan with the Epson 1640 scanner I own). The photos I have printer out have been excellent in durability and detail. I should mention that I had to align the print heads write out of the box because of horizontal lines on the print--these went away after heads were re-aligned. Anyway I'm going to try using different paper than the Epson photo paper I've been using and try different printer settings to get brighter more vivid photos. Overall I give this printer a fairly positive htumbs up.

Summary: If you like feeding problems you will love this printer.
Review: The C-80 prints great photo's. That's about it. Why can't they get it to feed properly?? I had one for a week and it jammed so bad with christmas cards that I took it back and got another, it doesn't feed any better than the first one. Post cards and envelopes are a disaster. The mechanisim that jostles the media in the paper tray actually threw some of my post cards out of the tray, some fed sideways, and other times it fed 4 or 5 cards at a time. Same with envelopes. My christmas card printing secession ended up with me feeding one sheet at a time, otherwise it would feed 3 or 4 sheets at a time regardless of how you set the paper thickness selector. I tried contacting Epson by FAX, (I wouldn't spend the money for a regular long distance) no reply, so I am going to return this one and trade for a HP or Lexmark.

Summary: Excellent Inkjet Printer
Review: I just received my Stylus C80 and I am thoroughly impressed! It was a breeze to setup under Windows 2000. However, I did download and install the latest drivers from Epson instead of using the ones on the CD that shipped with the printer. I think the output is really clear and crisp especially for a relatively low-priced printer. I have printed some photos and B&W text. It all looks good to me. I have no complaints whatsoever. On top of all this, the C80 is fast! It cranks out color or B&W in no time at all. If you are looking for a nice, moderately priced, inkjet this one is hard to beat! I did a lot of checking around before deciding on the Epson, but I think I made the right choice.
