Rating: Summary: A Great Printer for a Great Price Review: I recently bought this printer and I love it. Its WPM (words per minute) is amazing and its graphics on plain paper is also amazing. This is a great printer for anybody who takes printing semi-seriously. Its graphics on glossy paper is eve better! If you don't want to spend too much money on a good looking, excellent printer this is the one for you. The only thing I don't like about this printer is if you haven't used the printer in a while it takes it about 45 seconds to warm up. Non of my other printers ever did this but if you cen sacrifice 45 seconds then its well worth the wait! Good luck with the printer.
Rating: Summary: Cannon S600: Be proud! Review: This printer produces wonderful clear and colorful pictures and is priced well at Amazon.com. It arrived quickly and is convenient to use with the USB outlet. However, I needed my own USB cable which I borrowed from my external CD writer (not from my digital camera as that cable is too small). Buyers can get USB cables at Amazon for less than office stores. Photos are beautiful on 34 lb. Bond Brochure paper as well as more expensive photo paper. I'm very happy I chose the Canon S600. By the way, I check Amazon.com for reader reviews on almost everything possible before I buy.
Rating: Summary: Fast but not a photo quality printer.... Review: I will agree that this printer is fast and it does a good job of printing text and graphics. But there is no way this is a "photo quality printer". I tried myself and with the help of cannon tech. support to get photo quality results, no luck. It just cannot do it!!! I noticed they left the term photo quality off their description on the box - unlike the S800. The S800 clearly states photo quality. The S600 states print pictures, but does not claim photo quality. To me it is like being pregnant, you can print photos or you can't. Why would i want to spend the money on good paper and have a picture that looks like a painting? The detail is just not there. Every picture i printed out (including the sample picture provided on the cd) looked like an artist sketch. I returned this model to BEST BUY and was advised that they had receieved similar complaint/returns because the buyers assumed you could print photo quality prints with this model. If you do not want to print accurate looking pictures, this is a great printer. I wanted to be able to print pictures that i could frame and that could not be detected from photo lab prints. I returned my cannon unit after a week and bought the HP 952C. The picture quality is UNREAL!!!! It is slower but I can wait a few second more (about 30% longer)for quality. It actually cost ten dollars less. I wanted to write this because I looked at the previous reviews and they influenced me into getting the cannon S600. I'm not sure what they were writing about? Comparing photos printed out on my HP 952C to the ones I still have from my Canon, it is a joke. I used the same cannon photo paper and the same picture. Every printer has strengths and weaknesses. The cannon would be great for an office or for printing lots of text because it is so fast. If you ever want to print pictures that look like photo lab quality (or at least will take a while before someone can detect you printed it), forget it with the cannon s600.
Rating: Summary: Great printer at an affordable price! Review: This printer has all the bells and whistles without the huge price tag, and it prints photo quality pictures on plain, [inexpensive] copy paper. I still can't believe my eyes. I just had my first baby and I bought this printer so that I could make a scrapbook with photos from my digital camera. I don't think I will have to go to the photo lab ever again. I have one right here in my own home.
Rating: Summary: Very Good Printer at an Amazing Price Review: I always thought that if I wanted a printer, it would automatically be an HP, there was never a second doubt especially since my older brother had bought his P1000 in late December and was more than satisfied printing his very detailed 8 x 10 photos in very fine ink on beautiful photo paper. And when I was going to buy my first printer, I was pretty much looking for HP's, but obviously not as [much]as that ..price tag that came with the P1000. And it was then that I stumbled across this S600, with people saying that it rivaled the higher-end HP's P1000 and P1250. I thought I would take a gamble, especially after seeing the price at below.., less than half the price of my brother's printer. Installation was easy, and the printing program is very informational yet simple. But it was the actual printing that I couldn't believe. Very fine prints on 4 x 6 and even 8 x 10 at its highest resolution. They say it can print a photo at 8 x 10 in 90 seconds, but it took a few minutes for my photo and I don't expect any home printer to print any photo with quality that good at that speed. And the more easy black prints come out fast as usual. Ink cartridges will never be very [much] here as my brother's P1000 Photo Cartridge was indeed [a lot] used up very quickly. I don't need a slot for any Memory Card, I really doubt there are people who need a slot in their printer unless they are in a ridiculous hurry, and that is the only thing that P1000 has that my S600 doesn't. The S600 has everything else, and in some cases, does it better than those high-end HP's. Retail stores don't give a listed price because they are high on demand but low in stock. So to find it underneath is already lower than what most of the national retail stores are going to sell it. Buy This Printer if you want a reasonably priced printer that just happens to print things that would usually cost more.
Rating: Summary: A surprisingly fine printer for the price! Review: I desperately needed a new printer - my VERY old Canon just couldn't cut it any more. And since I've taken up digital photography (as well as scanning hundreds of old photos into my computer and archiving them on CD's) I wanted to be able to make prints for some friends and family. I put off my purchase for over a year, waffling between a couple of HP and Epson models, reading reviews as new models came out, looking at them in computer stores, and trying to make a good decision based on my needs, price range, my old Win95 OS with parallel port, etc. Then the S600 came out, and I read reviews everywhere I could. I had an Amazon gift certificate from Christmas, and ordered the S600 quite happily, my confusion between HP and Epson forgotten. The S600 sounded like just what I wanted. I haven't been sorry for a moment! I can't give you the detailed comparisons of its output quality compared to other brands and models, since other than testing in computer stores I haven't much experience with other new printers. I can certainly say that my husband and I and those I've shared printed photos with are consistently amazed at the output of this printer! Whether it's photos on glossy or matte paper, text, greeting cards using photos and clipart, mailing labels (plain and fancy) or the text/graphics/diagrams combos my husband creates, all print flawlessly. The photo output rivals pictures printed by friends with much more expensive printers - and that is their opinion as well as ours. The ink supply is large, and the ability to replace individual tanks (and they don't cost an arm and a leg, either) really helps keep cost down. Its internal monitor shows when a tank is running low, and there's a lot of printing left until it's actually empty. The last page I printed before the printer told me that one of the tanks was finally completely empty was as good as the first page printed, so you needen't fear having your work degrade in quality as the tank comes to the end. The number of pages of photos and graphics I got on the first set of ink tanks blew me away - I was expecting to replace the ink a lot sooner than I did, based on all the high-quality prints and album pages I have printed. Also unlike my old Canon, it doesn't go through a printhead cleaning routine each time it's turned on, which conserves ink. The software and interface are easy to use and helpful, including a "maintenance" screen which allows you to align the printhead, do a printhead cleaning or deep cleaning if and when needed, and set it up so that it turns itself on when you send a print job and off after you're done, Printer setup was easy, and Customer Support was quite helpful when I had one problem, which was resolved quickly. I haven't had any paper feed problems so far, it's handled the variety of media mentioned above without a hitch. All in all, for a reasonably-priced all-around printer that won't put you in the poorhouse buying supplies, I think it would be hard to beat this printer, both for routine printing and for high-quality photo prints!
Rating: Summary: Canon S600 - Very Nice Printer! Review: Canon has a real winner here. This is a first rate color printer with very little compromises. I had always been an HP fan (still am), but bought this printer for a small second office. Well it works just great, the software loaded without a hitch, it prints quickly and beautifully (color photos are great), and causes no problems. The four individual ink cartridges insure low cost printing. Really, this is a great buy. You'll need either a parallel or USB cable, though, as it doesn't ship with one. You won't be sorry!
Rating: Summary: print great Photos! Review: This is a great printer. The quality of the photo prints is fantastic. I purchased this printer to replace a Canon BJ 620. I love Canon printers. The separate ink cartridges are the so easy and cost effective. I work in Information Technology at a major University. I don't know how many times I have had to tell a faculty member to replace an entire ink cartridges in an HP printer because it was out of blue or some other color. I am sold on Canon printers
Rating: Summary: Something's Not Right Review: I still can't believe I paid [such a good price] for this machine. It is absolutely amazing. I don't know why Canon has offered such an amazing printer with such great quality for a price this low, it just doesn't seem right. I recently bought the CanonScan N122OU (another equally impressive canon acessory) and up until a week ago was in desparate need of a high quality printer. I can scan photo prints at 1200dpi on the scanner, then print the images out at 1200dpi on the printer. If you compare the original photo to a the printed version on photo paper, you will honestly have a hard time trying to tell them apart. Everything you've read is true. It's fast, quiet, uses high quality ink that is [inexpensive]and uses it efficiently. I've purchased many things from Amazon in the past and this is the only thing I've ever been motivated to write about. If you're at all interested in having an extremely high quality printer for a price far below what it's worth. Look no further.
Rating: Summary: GET ONE NOW!!! Review: I've recently entered the sales industry. Since presentation is everything in my profession, I was in need of a top of the line color printer. After some research on the internet and in stores, there was no other printer that was even close to the Canon S600 in terms of picture quality, speed and price (including ink). I had some problems with Epson and HP in the past so I was looking for another brand to try out. It turned out to be the best printer I have ever seen. The only other printer that came close was the HP 1220C, which [more expensive]. It was also twice as big and heavy. When I saw the prints on various different papers, I knew that this was the one I had to get. Right now. Unfortunately, they are sold out in the stores. It's a good thing we have the interenet.
