Rating: Summary: Excellent....but... Review: my epson 740 printer died recently. the internal chip wouldn't reset and it didn't make sense to get it repaired/replaced out of warranty.(if your epson printer has all lights blinking and it doesn't work, email epson...there's a certain combination/sequence of depressing the toner-paperfeed-on/off buttons that resets the printers chip.) i liked the printer very much. really good pictures. the C60 is very similar except that you get higher resolution printing but at the cost of chewing through ink cartridges. you probably need to print at the 2880 resolution if you have a good digital camera or you're printing a picture from a Kodak CD burned for you when having your negatives developed (an option that is fantastic for durability/archiving offered by any establishment that offers Kodak processing. usually a $6-10 option). otherwise, stick to 1440 resolution for photographs and less resolution for manuscripts/letters. save ink! the cartridge problem? simple ...go to tylermartin. (you don't have to be a mental giant to figure out their web site name address!) click on to the American made Epson compatible cartridge selection there (as opposed to the non-American made cartridges there). Almost 2/3rd's less than Epson's price !!! i'm on my first pair now, it works just GREAT. and YES it has that stupid chip attached to each cartridge. personally, i ran through 12 black and 12 color cartridges from tylermartin on my older epson 740. excellent resolution and color fidelity. no clogging. i have several pictures hanging on the wall out of direct sunlight that show negligible fading after 8+ months. end of cartridge consumption problems! (alas, my older epson 740 cartridges are still only 1/4th epson's price at tylermartin). Perhaps a light bulb will turn on somewhere and Amazon's wholesale buyer will contact the manufacturer: USA Inkjets. In the past i've purchased Rhinotek cartridges compatible for Epson through Amazon. I see no discernible difference between these, Rhinotek's or Epson's except the ridiculous price...2/3rd's less! go figure. (well packaged in individual printed boxes with barcodes and ready for retail display.) Oh yes, when i loaded the USA cartridges, the ink levels read correctly unlike the original ones that came with the printer which showed the black half filled and the color only 3/4's filled. perhaps the cartridges were too old and were stewing in the printer's box too long. anyhow, i recommend the c60 as a great quality, relatively quiet, fast (with usb port) printer. excellent buy if you can get your hands on inexpensive cartridges.
Rating: Summary: I actually smashed this on the floor! Review: I bought this printer with high hopes of using it with my Macintosh iBook. However, this collection of rubbish was the most frustrating printer I've ever owned...and I've owned many. The Epson C60 hits new lows for a) poor and erratic print quality, b) prodigious waste of ink to repeatedly clean the print heads, and c) customer support that is probably based in Iraq given how unfriendly it is. My opinion of this printer can be best summarized by describing what I did to it last night after owning it less than 6 months. I actually smashed it onto the garage floor.
Rating: Summary: Good printer but.... Review: The Epson C60 prints great. No matter what paper you use the quality is the same, excellent. It is very fast. And I also like the price.... Here's the problem...the Epson C60 is a real ink guzzler. The ink runs out way too fast. The printer has an ink monitor and when you put in a cartridge (black or color) the monitor says it's full. However, when you print a one page document, the monitors ink level is at 3/4 full, what's that? I would have gave his printer 4 or 5 stars but the ink situation is bothering me. The printer is reasonably priced but with the amount of ink cartridges you will have to buy, the printer will end up causing you alot in the long run.
Rating: Summary: Nice printer but... Review: I'm somewhat please with the Epson C60. The print quality is very good. You can use a wide variety of paper types and the effect will still be the same, GREAT. However, the C60 is a real ink guzzler. The printer has its own ink monitor and when you first put in the cartridge (black or color), the monitor says it's full. When you print a one page document, the monitor has the ink level at 3/4 full. What is that???? The Epson C60 is a reasonably priced printer but with the number of cartridges you are going to have to buy, in the long run it's very expensive.
Rating: Summary: Noisiest Printer Review: I have had 5 printers in 9 years Canon and Lexmark and always thought Lexmarks were the loudest. Wrong. This Epson is by far the winner. The price is reasonable and the photo quality above average, not great. So as long as you don't work in the late night and wake up your family it is a good printer for the price.
Rating: Summary: It's ok... Review: I recently lost my Epson Stylus 740 due to a mechanical failure. It was a great little printer with no problems during it's life span. I bought the Stylus C60 based upon it's rave reviews and I am finding it not to be so great. First of all, it's really noisy. I can't emphasize it enough. If you are like me and you spend a lot of time on your computer, this will really bug you. The first time it ran, I jumped back. The printing job is no better than the 740. It's decent. I haven't printed on photo quality paper yet to really test the quality. Being a knock- around printer, I don't expect it to be wonderful for photos. The noise level is so irritating that I almost don't care how it prints. Consider this review a fair warning...
Rating: Summary: Certainly the best for the money. Review: I bought two of these last Christmas, one for my sister and one for my mother. It's undoubtedly the most printer you can get for the money. I've used all popular brands of inkjet printers and for my money, none can produce the quality of an Epson. This printer has high enough resolution for both documents and color photos, however if you think you'll be doing a lot of photo printing, you might step up to one of the models with 5-color inkjets for a wider color gamut.
Rating: Summary: Don't buy Epson Review: Epson has now developed their ink jet printers so that the cartridges cannot be refilled or cannot use non-Epson cartridges. This way they can continue to raise prices on their cartridges and there is no choice but to pay their greedy prices. Check out other printer manufacturers.
Rating: Summary: C 60 is a Great Printer for the Money Review: I just bought the C60 and have been extremely happy with the quality. I am fussy being a professional photographer but the prints are acceptable photo quality prints. I don't think they are archival though which may be a drawback. I will order ink on Ebay for it to cut costs...do a search for a source. The speed of the printer was very impressive. I have a Kodak PM 100 and it takes 10 minutes for an 8x10. I can get a good one from this machine in less than 2 minutes with a parallel port connection. The film factory software is neat too. I've only owned this for a few days but I am thoroughly impressed for the money spent. You will probably not get a better printer for anything less than 200 bucks. Yeah, it's noisy but so is my vacuum cleaner and both do a great job. At 79 bucks after rebate, its almost a throwaway machine if it works well for a year or two. I wouldn't fix it at that price...just go buy a new one!!
Rating: Summary: It Works! Review: As a non technical person, the lack of compatibility and standards in the computer industry never ceases to amaze me. Buying computer components is often like buying an automobile in which you never know that it only works with Goodyear tires, Texaco gas, is put together with non standard nuts and bolts and stops running if you use the wrong brand of windshield wiper. And they never tell you any of this in the owners manual.....you just call tech support when your car dies and wait 20 minutes to speak to somebody who can't fix your problem anyway! And when he speaks with you, he refers to the gas as the APF (auto propulsion fluid), the tires as the CS's (car sneakers), and the windshield wipers as the PCU's (percipitation clearing units). Not so with the Epsom C60. It's a bit noisy, drinks ink (but they all do), but when I plugged it in to my computer IT WORKED and printed good pictures.
