Summary: excellent value
Review: Excellent print quality, both in colour and black/white. Very fast when printing in black/white. Colour printing speed could use a little bit of improvement (a photo-quality print at 2880dpi can take up to 15 minutes, depending on complexity of the picture) but I'm not complaining. A little on the loud side when the cartridges charge up. Ink lasts for a fairly long time. Nice, clean looking printer. The photo-quality printing capability when using glossy photo paper is superb, like you just had photos professionally processed. Good drivers with no compatibility problems on Win2K Pro, although Epson already had newer, better drivers available on their website when I got the printer. USB connectivity comes in handy. Decent software package with some very cool features. Excellent bang for the buck with this machine.

Summary: Epson Still The Best
Review: If you're going to buy an inkjet printer, make it an epson! I bought the C60 for my HP after having some serious words with my two Compaq printers. I had to insist that they leave the house! I had to clean nozzles every time I wanted to use the dare things, and had to feed at least 4 sheets of paper through them to get any kind of results. This is not a good thing considering the price of inkjet cartridges. I got upset and got my old epson 740 from my daughters Macintosh (a superior device, I love those things!), This printer had not been used for months, it printed instantly! Epson is the cadillac (I really do have one) 0f the inkjet world. The C60 is a great printer, it prints photo quality images in an instant, well it does take a minute or two but its performance and quality are great. Makes a bit of noise at startup but I will certainly take the noise over the silent ink drinking, paper wasting, nonprinting, frustrating alternative. Try it U'L like it!

Summary: Bad choice for high volume of printing
Review: A good printer if your printing needs are light but a bad choice if you do a large volume of printing. Only had printer for a year and already parts need replacing. Just to have someone look at it to tell me what needs replacing is going to cost $65. Mind you, I only paid $99 for it. It also uses up ink too fast. I have to buy 2-3 cartridges a month and they are expensive, $30 per cartridge.

Finally decided to go with laser. Will never buy another inkjet printer again.

Summary: Can't pring just B&W if you have no Color Cartridge in it.
Review: I found the Epson C60 to be an average to poor quality printer, having owned it for about two years now. I don't print much at all, so I didn't want to spend alot on a printer. My impression is that there are now much better printers on the market for less.

The thing about it that annoyed me to no end, was the fact that once it's run out of color ink in the color cartridge, even though it has plety of ink in the black and white cartridge, it won't print simple black and white printouts, even though I told the driver to just print in black and white. The only reason I can see for this, is for Epson to sell another ink cartridge.

Summary: Good, Bad, Ugly
Review: I have this printer, and have used mine for two years. It is uses two cartridges, one black and one with three colors.

The good: Inexpensive, decent quality for most domestic printing needs.

The bad: It prints slowly. You'll notice this with ink-heavy pages like photos. It also requires ink replacements often.

The ugly: With wear, the print heads get dirty. The software provides a way to auto-clean, but it is needed more than with other printers. The colors do not mix well when printed. Heavily printed pages have the same feel as does that same paper after drawing all over with an ink marker.

If you need to print off a letter in a basic font, you're set. If you need to desktop publish a flyer for your home business, you need a printer with more meat, or you should go to a digital print bureau.

When looking for a printer, first see it in person, even if buying online is less expensive. See the samples and watch how quickly it prints. Put two prints together and compare resolution and color.

For my home needs, this is fine, but for more complex projects, I use a print bureau or copy place.

Summary: Great (cheap!) little printer
Review: This printer is a replacement for our Canon Multipass (never buy one of those!). It performs extremely well, better than average for the price. Setup was a breeze -- I had this out of the box and printing inside of 10 minutes. Documentation is extremely easy to use. I definitely like the onscreen ink indicator. It's nice to be able to see in a click whether I'm getting close to needed a new cartridge. It actually prints faster than advertised. I also appreciate having the choice between parallel and USB ports. Drawbacks are that it is louder than the other one, and the cartridges are pricey. However, the print quality is incomparable, and what good are inexpensive cartridges when a printer never works?!! I'll stick with Epson, thank you very much!

Summary: Disgraceful piece of hardware
Review: Unfortunately we have 2 of these in the family - don't ask how. They've both been rubbish from the beginning. They refuse to print black if the colour cartridge has run out and vice versa. The colour cartridge is approximately £30 and runs out very quickly. The chips prevent them from printing even when they haven't run out - resetting them with a chip resetter proves this. They're extremely noisy and seem to go through a ridiculous clunky procedure before even getting round to printing. So turning on the pc to print out a quick document is a joke. Finally ours doesn't work at all now. I've have not seen a more disgusting piece of equipment in 16 years of computer use! I'm writing to Epson to complain - contact me with your thoughts - chris@remotemonkey.com

Summary: Good Printer, Great Printing, Uses A lot of Ink
Review: Good Printer. Cheap, pretty fast, nand a little oisy but not bad. Great Quality!

I would advise you turn printer on and off at least once a day to clear the heads. Doing this will eliminate the need to use the Epson Cleaning Utility - which wastes a lot of ink. Cartridges are expensive $30/ea.

Summary: Waste of money
Review: While the printer itself may be relatively cheap, you'll spend so much money on ink that in the long run you'd be better off getting a good laser printer. It seems to run out of ink after only 15-20 pages.
