Rating: Summary: You're Getting Exactly What You Pay For Review: A cheap printer that prints. No more, no less. I will admit that the print quality is actually pretty decent considering the low price. It's ok for occasional home printing. If you're going to be doing anything more than that, go for a better printer. The biggest disadvantage that I found is the cost of the ink cartidges. They are rather expensive. It's also not most sturdy machine. It broke after two years of "OCCASIONAL" use. Like I said, you get what you pay for.
Rating: Summary: good quality Review: a remarkably reliant and affordable (except the cartridges) printer that has outlasted more expensive ones by other companies.I am very pleased with this printer. It's easy to use and delivers nice quality prints.
Rating: Summary: Couldn't Connect Review: After more times than I can count, I gave up trying to get this Z22 to work with my computer. Curiously enough my Z11 worked with my computer and still works. I guess it wasn't my parallel cabel like tech support said. I an fairness, Tech support was easy to contact and tried very hard, but after 2 days I gave up and returned the printer and got my money back.
Rating: Summary: Poor Photo Quality Prints Review: As a standard printer for text and graphic illustrations, it's very capable. The ink cartridges do not last very long though, and they typically cost between $25 to $35 U.S. Dollars. Forget about cartridge refill kits, because the chip has to be reset, which for all intents and purposes impossible. Generic ink cartridges do not work dependably, and often don't work at all. Color and black and white photo prints are lousy. You can see each pass that the ink jets have made in the form of horizontal bars. And in between those passes is a blank area about 1/4 of a millimeter.
Rating: Summary: Good printer but obtaining cartridges is a real pain. Review: For the price, it is difficult to beat this printer's performance. However, there is the hidden cost of trying to obtain replacement ink cartridges. As shipped, the box only contains the color cartridge. You must buy the most often used black cartridge seperately. Be prepared to wait an inordinate amount of time for anything labled "Lexmark" to be shipped. Two or more weeks before shipping is a real possibility.
Rating: Summary: NO Problem Getting Replacement Cartridges for the Z22 - Fast Review: Having read all the reviews on the Z22, I felt the need to add a few positive comments: My operating system is Windows ME and there was NO problem whatsoever in installing the Z22 (I also have a scanner hooked in between: the scanner, NOT the Z22 gives me an occasional problem). This light-weight printer is small enough to fit anywhere (I was pressed for space!), has never had a paper jam (bought it in Sept.2000) and prints clear and concise -- both in color and in black & white on just about any paper. One reviewer comments that it is hard to get replacement cartridges: NOT SO! If you don't want to wait for someone to ship... In addition, I have purchased a "Universal Inkjet Refill Kit" and it works like a charm! Have refilled my black cartridge about 5 times by now and the color one about 2 times. The Refill Kits are a great alternative and that way, you alwayshave ink handy if you run out of ink at 3 o'clock in the morning... I'd recommend this printer to anyone who needs a basic reliable printer for general every day use and who isn't into any specialty printing, even though the Z22 does a good job on photos etc. as well.
Rating: Summary: Nice Printer - Expensive Cartridges Review: I agree with most of the other reviewers regarding the Lexmark Z22 in that it's a pretty good value. I'll just add to be aware of the cost of replacement ink cartridges, which run about $30 each for original Lexmark ink. The cartridges didn't last nearly as long as I thought they would and this value ended up being a significant investment.
Rating: Summary: Not recommendable -- expensive cartridges, low speed, & more Review: I bought this printer about a year ago, with full enthusiasm about all the printing I'll do. But that turned out to be just a dream, since this thing prints pages at a snail's pace. The 6.5ppm figure for black pages is a joke, if you are not printing in the draft mode, and if your page has more than 20 lines of text (forget about graphics). Next thing to talk about is cartridges. First thing that shocked me was that the printer did not come with any black cartridge!!! I had to buy a new black cartridge ... immediately after buying this [money] printer! :-( ... Further, the cartridge didn't last long. This is not to mention the trouble I had finding the cartridge in the first place. The cartridges 17G0050 and 17G0060 are NOT available in most local stores.. And after all that pain, my printer suddenly stopped working (both lights flashing) after about 1 year. The manual says both lights flashing means "cartridge trolley stalled", but doesn't say what to do next. Lexmark Support didn't help me either (that's another sad story!). Overall, don't waste money on this. Buy something slightly more expensive, buy good quality. Go for HP or Canon.
Rating: Summary: DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER! Review: I got mine in the mail today and here are some things buyers need to know: It does not come with a black cartridge. It only ships with a color cartridge. The black cartridge and the color cartridge replacements cost almost as much as the printer. The print quality is pathetic. The cartridge that does come with the printer is the standard cartridge and you will be replacing it quickly because it wasn't designed for daily printing. Be prepared to spend a ton of money to get any use out of this printer. Lexmark should be ashamed to sell this item to an unsuspecting public. Don't fall for the flashy advertising. This printer is completely worthless. The only upside is the USB AND parallel connectors...
Rating: Summary: Don't bother Review: I had to give this at least one star because there were was no option for zero stars. There was no cable and no black ink cartridge. The ink cartridges are expensive and hard to find. Go with an HP. Avoid this printer like the plague!!!
