Rating: Summary: Cartridges become defective easily Review: 1. Printing quality is not as good as other color inkjet printers. 2. I have had to replace my color ink cartridge TWICE before they were used up, simply because the cartridge heads had become defective. One of the colors won't print properly or it prints with a dark line through each pass. I tried cleaning the cartridge per instructions offered by tech support, but no luck. If I wanted to print, I had to buy a new cartridge. 3. Recently, it simply died on me. It lost connection with my computer all of a sudden and was no longer recognized by my computer. I have reinstalled the software several times and checked the cables, but nothing worked. 4. Ink cartridges are used up quickly. I have spent more money on cartridges than I did on the printer in the one year I had it.Given this dismal experience with the Z52 and its multiple cartridge problems, I would never buy another Lexmark product again.

Rating: Summary: decent printer Review: After trying 4 printers (Epson & Compaq models) in a week's time, this Lexmark Z52 has found a home. It's print out for text is fast and the colors in text rich and brilliant. The printing of a photo is very slow but the picture is worth the wait. The software was easy to install and we had no trouble whatsoever as we did with the Epson drivers. Also it is much quieter then the Epson Stylus 400 we are replacing. We'd highly recommend this printer to our friends.
Rating: Summary: This Printer Stinks! Review: Don't waste your money on this printer! I have 2 HP's and decided that I might want to try a Lexmark. The photo quality stinks! All of its color documents have color lines running across it. The HP only does that when it's out of ink! Don't waste your money on this printer! Go buy a HP Deskjet! THey're much more worth the price!
Rating: Summary: Great printer for the price! Review: Experience with this machine started out terrible. Horrible black &/or color smudges. Contacted Lexmark support, waited only a couple of minutes to talk to a friendly, experienced, HELPFUL tech rep. Talked me through some troubleshooting, finally decided my scanner was competing for the port. Disconected the scanner and uninstalled the software and now it functions absolutely beautifully. Great color, clean crisp text, high speed, especially in B&W. Now I guess I'll go order a USB/Parallel port adapter...
Rating: Summary: Good printer for the average documents... Review: I bought this printer about a year ago and it has not failed me. It is durable and reliable for your normal every day printing. Changing the cartridges is a snap and the software makes it very easy for you to maintain your printer and see your print progress. I gave this 3 stars only because with the high resolution photo quality printers out there now, this Lexmark just doesn't compare if that is the quality that you are looking for. It is also pretty slow to print color documents. For everyday printing, this printer is great! However, now that I need a printer that will print photo quality and faster prints, this printer has become obsolete to me. I will probably keep it around for my normal document prints. If you are looking for high resolution and photo quality, try an Epson. Otherwise for students and families using a printer for your average document prints, this would do the trick!

Rating: Summary: INK GUZZLER Review: I couldn't agree more with Mr. O'Connell; this machine does not live up to its billing. It is a serious ink guzzler---reminds me of my LandCruiser going through gas. The black ink cartridge lasted less than 500 pages of wordprocessing, which is extremely expensive. The black snd white printing is quite good; the color in my view is unsatisfactory. The clarity is nowhere near the sample in the store machine---grainy and unclear even from my 2.1 pixel digital camera at the highest setting. There are clearly visible lines and grain. Black and white is extremely fast; akin to a laser; the color is painfully slow; I cannot take as credible the reviews that claim that color printing takes less than 1 minnute; color averages 5 minutes and longer for photos. REcommended only for word processing; otherwise, this printer is slow, expensive and low resolution.
Rating: Summary: Superior Photos Review: I got the Lexmark as a temporary printer to replace my HP 870cse, which was over 3 years old. I wanted to print out pictures to send to friends who were without computers. Well, to my surprise this printer is outstanding. I just scanned and printed out some photographs dating back to the late 1800s and early 1900s, for a friend. I used photographic paper and it was difficult to distinguish the original from the copy. I was even able to use Photoshop and make the copies look even better than the originals. This printer is a great deal and I cannot belive they just dropped the price. ... Yes, it is a shame that Lexmark did not separate the colors into separate cartridges. If you want an inexpensive printer for printing photos this one cannot be beat. (One tip, put the printer on the highest quality setting for the maximum quality).
Rating: Summary: The best at a resonable price Review: I think this is one of the best printers Lexmark makes at a very reasonable price. Some people say it uses to much ink! What I say is learn how to refill the cartridges yourself& save money. It is really not that hard to do!
