Summary: Still a Winner
Review: I've had this printer for nearly 3 years and it prints today just as good as it did when new. I see no need to upgrade as I doubt any printer out yet can print photos any better than the 880. Uses lots of ink as previous reviewers mention but I use aftermarket refills from Meritline.com. I get 5 cartridges for the price of one Epson brand and the print quality is amazing. Always use the Epson paper for best results and you'll be happy.

Summary: Awsome Printer
Review: I've just finished hooking up the 880 and I'm thrilled with the absolutely dead on perfect colour photo reproduction and perfect printing. This printer is whisper quiet and super fast. The machine comes with really easy install instructions and the extra software that comes with it is very impressive. I'm replacing a older Epson Stylus 600 which I'm happy with, that beats most of the printers out there today but the 880 is in another category altogether. I'm using a USB connection with my Athon 1.3G, 256K PC and the results are astounding. Can't image anything better. Colour photos are perfect. Micro-piezo or electronic print heads? I'm sold on Epson Micro-piezo technology. Lower cost per page than the competion and how can anybody improve on perfect, really!

Summary: Fast & Cheap printer
Review: If you've got tight purse-strings and you want great print quality, this is for you. It prints faster and produces a bit higher quality than the HP 700's series. First off, the Epson Stylus 880 sucks up ink like a camel. After one year of owning this printer, I've gone through 4 black & 4 color cartridges as compared to one of each cartridge for the HP. It could be that they sell these printers cheap and hopefully make up the money on selling ink cart's (they're pretty steep in price). I don't recommend "refilling" the carts yourself but instead bid on ebay, they're cheaper.

The easy-to-understand printer management utilities tell you the ink levels and provides nozzle/head cleaning, etc. Changing ink cart's is easy as 1, 2, 3 (because they know you're going to replace often). If you don't print much but want to save money and get good printouts, this printer will suit.

The bubble-jet design means that the paper feeds downward, instead of in a tray, this asks for paper jams. There is no "escape" panel on the back, but the top cover opens completely for easy jam removal, but it will occur quite rarely.

I give a 4.1 star rating = **** 4 Stars. Thank you.

Summary: Steer clear of this
Review: My first 880 died just before its warrenty expiry, they sent a replacement pretty quick, sadly that just died too. Plently of blinking lights from "load paper" to "out of ink" (it has both). Good quality printing, but it really should last more than a year. Inks are cripplingly $$ compared to other brands. Avoid it if you can.

Summary: Good Printer - Terrible Customer Service
Review: My first printer was defective and Epson replaced it with a refurbished model despite mine being only two days old. The replacement was also defective! The third worked fine. They lost track of the one I mailed back and sent a letter months later threatening to charge me for the "nonreturned" unit. Epson promised to replace the ink cartridges wasted in the attempt to repair the first two units. After repeated calls to their (non-toll free number), still no cartidges. The quality of the printing (when it works!) is good.

Summary: Excellent All-Around Printer
Review: My wife and I have owned 5 Epson printers over the years. We currently have two 880's and these have been, by far, the best of the lot. The 880 is much faster than the others, black characters are clear and sharp and color is outstanding. This Epson is also quieter than its predecessors. If you can still buy these printers, run, don't walk, to the dealer. The price has come way down and this is indeed a bargain.

Summary: Outstanding !!
Review: Out of the box, this printer was easy to set up, install and begin printing. And, what an outstanding printer this is. The pictures I printed were virtually identical to photos, and the text clear and crisp. I can't believe the quality/price ratio here, seems like Epson should have charged more.. oh well, my gain and yours too. Buy it you won't be disappointed.

Summary: Absolutely Fantastic
Review: Plugged it in, loaded the software, and printed. Couldn't be easier. I printed an existing photo I had and used the software that came with this printer. I couldn't believe my eyes. I just replaced an Epson 740 and what a difference. I paid more for my old printer than I did for this one and got double the dpi with this one. Highly recommend this printer. For the price, it is worth double what I paid for it. The software alone is worth half the price of the printer. Real photo quality at a real affordable price.

Summary: Good, versatile printer for the $
Review: This is the second home printer I've owned. I bought this one about a year ago and have had no problems and have been very pleased with the quality. I use it mainly for basic print but have experimented with pictures and was pleasantly surprised with the result on good quality paper.

The cartridges are about average in cost and readily available. I've used 3 black cartridges and am on the second color cartridge. The on-line toner level information is excellent and the print quality monitoring tools are well documented and work well. The USB connection is convenient but be sure you buy the cable you'll need.

I would recommend this printer for anyone who needs a basic, very good quality print result.

Summary: A work horse
Review: This printer has proven to be a reliable work horse for me. I get amazing results in both color and black & white!

I noticed the review by the person who had problems with his 880, wherein he said he seldom used his printer. This will cause problems for most inkjets as the ink will dry up in the print heads causing the need to replaced the print heads. I would recommend turning on any inkjet printer at least once a week to prevent this from happening. It may use up ink as a result, but you'll extend the life of the printer and not have to replace it due to lack of use.

Once again, you get plenty of bang for the buck with the Epson Stylus Color 880 - and stunning photo quality results if you use Epson products with the printer!!!
