Rating: Summary: Excellent VERY CHEAP INK!! Review: ...the cheap ink works fine in this machine-but you don't want to leave any ink jet sitting for months on end without printing...I print all my paintball ads/flyers and business cards with this machine and it works great-I get about 300-400 full color ads off 1 color ink that costs me about 3.50-thats not bad in my book! ~TIM~
Rating: Summary: Great printer, amazing price Review: Any computers or periphials are usually as good as their cost. You get what you pay for... except in this case. There is absolutely NO printer that prints this good at such a low price. The quality on glossy paper is identical to a photo. I bought a digital cam, and thanks to the Stylus 880, I can use it to produce perfect photos. I never have to buy film again, only glossy paper and ink occasionaly, which will not cost nearly as much as film and developement. It is not just the quality that wowed me, though, it was the speed also. If you are just printing a paper or anything with text only, the 880 will spit it out in about 5 seconds. A 5 X 7 full color photo quality printout takes around a minute. And it is all done without disturbing a soul, since this is also one of the quietest printers out there. It has it all. Quality, speed, and it is quiet. In addition, Epson's ink cartridges are very competitively priced compared to those of their rival companies. And you know when you need to buy ink, because every time you print a page, a bar graph shows you exactly how much ink you have left, therefore you will never be caught needing ink in an emergency. Don't waste your money on slower and louder printers that have less quality and make more noise, buy an 880. Whether you have a digital cam or a scanner and want to make GREAT photos, or if you just want a quiet printer to print websites and documents, the 880 is a hit. Also, another printer that has the same quality and costs even less is the Epson Stylus 777. The only difference between the 880 and 777 is that the 777 is slower and much noisier. Either way, you are getting a phenomenal printer at an outstanding price. This is one of the few periphials where you don't get what you pay for. You get a lot more.
Rating: Summary: Great print quality, poor product quality Review: At the begining you have to think, why other printers can't print this good? believe me, few printers in this price range can match the output quality of the 880. The problem came when the ink ran out, although the printer monitor shows some ink in the tanks, there is almost no output in the print head, after many print head cleanings, i decided to change the cartridges, new cartriges but no output, sadly, the warranty had expired (because i only used to print photos, it was seldomly used) and now i am stuck with a somewhat expensive and bulky door stop. This is the second time it happens to me with an Epson. Do yourself a favor and buy any other brand.

Rating: Summary: terrific printer Review: Easy to set up and use .Excellent help from mfr.I've been using this printer for mostly digital camera processing and have been getting great results. Am now moving up to an Epson PHOTO 785EPX.
Rating: Summary: Last of the cheap ink printers! Review: From here on, you WILL have to pay through the nose for your ink for most printers...They don't sell these any more because they are not making money on the ink!
Rating: Summary: My first epson product and I will never have another! Review: I bought an Epson 880 printer along with my new Dell 8100 computer June 8,2001. After getting everything set up, all worked well except the Epson 880 printer. During the next two months whenever I could get time, I still tried to get this piece of junk to work. I finally got it to work a little by the end of July! I used the printed service troubleshooting guide, the online help and then the telephone service assistance. I loved paying for the daytime long distance calls! It would indicate it needed paper when it clearly did not! Then it indicated it needed ink...bought that at around fifty dollars....guess what did not need it and the most common thing was it would go off line at any least thing! Finally on August 3, 2001, it quit completly and did nothing but blink all its lights at me!! I was told by service....it needed service....duh!! Send me another they said. After two and half weeks later no printer. I complained to the company no answers. I finally got a response when I complained to the state consumer affairs office. Since I bought it through Dell, I had to return it to them.....almost twenty dollars to ship and NO response to this date except for the signed returned receipt where they got it. It is now January 04,2002!! Fifty dollars for not needed ink, twenty dollars for shipping back STILL no adjustment or printer! Beware !
Rating: Summary: Awesome printer! Review: I bought the Epson 880 to replace an Epson 440. The 440 printed at 720x360 dpi was relatively slow and somewhat loud. The 880 is without a doubt an awesome printer. It is both fast and quiet. The printer can print in all dpi ranges from 360 all the way to 2880. However, 1440 is plenty sharp. 2880 is almost overkill, not to mention the amount of ink used. It spits out pages of black text in nothing flat. Print those term papers in a matter of a minute or two.I printed a composite photograph of the Earth at Night (http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/ap001127.html) showing how the world is lit up on clear nights. The printed image is sharper than what it looked like on-screen! And that was only at 1440 dpi! I shopped for an Epson printer because I was hoping to keep the same printer software. Well of course the 880 included updated software, but it worked about the same as the 440's so I was very satisfied with the supporting software.
Rating: Summary: Great Performance, Great Price! Review: I bought this as a replacement for an HP722 that I accidentally killed. I figured with it's $149 price tag, it would be a good temporary until I could go get one of the fancy $399 HP photo printers. Well, I have saved myself $250 because I have no intention of getting the more expensive printer! This little gem gives me incredible photo quality prints. Its drivers contain many choices for different types of paper. When you select photo paper, you get great photos. Another plus - the ink cartridges have a long life compared to other brands! Honestly, you can't go wrong here.
Rating: Summary: Excellent printer for the price! Review: I bought this printer as a color replacement for my black and white LaserJet. I was attracted by the 2880dpi resolution & claims of photo quality prints and laser-like black text. I was not disappointed. When used with quality inkjet paper, the printer performs as promised. Photographic results are amazing when glossy paper is used. These things are not so outstanding in the higher end printer market, but considering the slim price tag, this printer is extraordinary. Added features that I found useful are ink level monitoring and print area expansion. The USB connection option is very convenient as well. If you decide to purchase this printer, be sure to pick up a cable, as one is NOT included.
