Description:
Looking for a color printer that produces great quality text? The Lexmark 5700 offers 1200 x 1200 six-color printing and amazingly sharp black text. The Jetprinter offers near-laser quality printouts but with all the cost and convenience of an ink-jet printer. Setting up the Lexmark 5700 was easy. We just plugged it in, attached the cable, turned on the PC, and inserted the printer driver disks. After the setup wizard had run, the printer head automatically moved into position so that we could insert the ink cartridges. The driver software also performed a head alignment test and printed a beautiful test page. In our test of the 5700, we printed several samples in color, black and white, draft quality, and high quality. The samples included graphics, large and small letters, and a variety of color shades. The test results produced colors that were bright and beautiful, even for tight-register samples. The draft samples looked just as good as the normal ones. Text was razor sharp and, at a rated eight pages per minute, we appreciated the speed too. We decided to test Lexmark's claim that this printer produces "text as sharp as expensive laser printers." In side-by-side comparison tests, we had to examine the pages very closely in order to tell which sample came from which printer. And for one sample, printed with the very tiny 4-point Times font, the Lexmark 5700 page actually looked sharper than the laser printer's. Given the 5700's beautiful color and sharp text printing, we think it would make an excellent addition to any desktop. Pros - 1200 x 1200 dpi resolution
- Beautiful colors
- Very sharp text
- Great software bundle
