Rating: Summary: No Linux support yet Review: I agree it is a nice printer. The only problem (for Linux guy) is no Linux driver support until now.
Rating: Summary: Best for the money Review: I Bought My Lexmark Z-42(now called Z-43) about a year ago, probably because my first printer was a Lexmark and was used to a "trouble free" printing task. Well the Z-42 exceeded my expectations in every respect! It has been a real work horse, does not use excessive ink and has been totally reliable. I originally plannend on buying a Z-52(now called a Z-53), but kept this one instead. According to what I have read, the Z-53 is not much faster than this one! Also does a good job on Photos, even on plain old 20 lb. paper! I highly reccommend this printer to anyone!
Rating: Summary: Remember the cartridge costs Review: I bought this printer a couple of months ago because of the price. The resolution is great, and with the "photo" cartrige and glossy paper, photos come out looking almost as good as at the developer. But I have discovered that the cartridges have a short life, only 600 pages, and cost [money](new, cheaper if refurbished) to replace. If you print more than 50-100 pages a month, you'll be better off shelling out a bit more for HP.

Rating: Summary: Lexmark: Latin for "GOTCHA!" Review: I bought this... because it was affordable and offered decent print quality. Each printed page is quite precious, because you'll probably only get a few dozen of them before the printer commits seppuku. Their supposed "accu-feed" technology was nowhere to be found, with perfectly-loaded sheets getting crinkled diagonally about half the time. The exit tray is a joke. The mechanism jiggles envelopes violently, causing your intended black ink to arrive on the paper in components. (remember, black is often made of a mix of complimentary pigments). Plus, the included software does not jive with Windows XP AT ALL. Lexmark has clearly fallen off the boat when it comes to compatibility.

Rating: Summary: Big Bang For Your Buck Review: I have used expensive Xerox 1200X1200 and Highend HP Deskjets and Epsons. To be blunt, they don't compare to the Lexmark Z43. This printer does it all and quickly too. The first photo that I printed out at 2400X1200 was absolutly amazing. The install was easy and the text print is true laser quality.
Rating: Summary: Performed as advertised Review: I used to be a secretary and you would not even want to hear the language I used on NEC and HP printers at work. I believed that printers were meant to work poorly and were medival torture devices created by people who hate secretaries. I recently became a poor law student with a lot of printing to do, and a macintosh ibook. Lexmark is one of the few companies that makes mac compatible printers at a reasonable price. The black and white is great, the color is great, and so far it hasn't jammed. I assume this is because of the special paperfeed engineering referred to in the advertisments of this product. My only complaint is that it could be faster, but then I would have to shell out for a laser printer. I love this printer, so far.....
Rating: Summary: Speed is not true Review: Lexmark says that Z43 can print 12ppm black & 6ppm color. This is only for attraction. I found it prints 2ppm black, if it is full page. When I asked for technical support, they explained to me, that 12ppm is for the page, filled no more then 5%! (almost empty!) and quality 300x300 (normal is 600x600). But quality of printed page is good (for 600x600) and is even better for 2400x1200. In this case you have to wait one page several minutes!
Rating: Summary: blown away by the print quality Review: My epson 740 died yesterday and i needed to replace it fast. i went out and bought a new printer today. i picked the lexmark z43 only because it was on sale and seemed to have decent specs for the money. the print quality is stunning but the speed is no where near 12ppm. (i knew that going in, but i find it annoying that printer companies all use the same partial truth to sell their wares) it's prety quiet, much more so than the old 740, though it does start with a loudish jolt. as a piece of furniture it's butt ugly. that's a pity cause it doesn't have to be. (this is according to my tastes of course) i'd give it five stars based on print quality but it lost a couple of points cause of it's manipulative sales ploy about print speed and because it's an eye sore.
