Summary: Just a cartridge short of five stars...
Review: My 777 is the best printer I have owned to date. The printer price is a bargain, and the quality of the printout is as good as more expensive models. If you're not needing real speed, this printer can't be beaten by printers twice their price.

My only problem? The T017 and T018 cartridges that they use. First, they are hard to find, at least in our area of the country. Most stores are still stocking the old S-series, and after a year I still can't find them in my home town. In cities of 100,000 to 300,000 within a 150-mile radius, I have found that the few stores that carry them are often out of stock.

....

They are available here at Amazon....I'm waiting for my rush shipment from Amazon. When the color is out, the B/W won't print either.

Summary: Epson ,dependable ,colorful
Review: Not knowing much about printers I bought an Epson 777 ,upon a customer service recommendation. It was inexpensive , so what did I have to loose ?Would I ever take a reccommendation fron that company again should it have been a dud ?They had more to loose than I.Well I'm glad I bought it .I've been given many compliments on my pictures ,T shirts ,and articles.I'm always asked what kind of printer I have because they say my pictures are better than theirs. And I mean a substantial amount of people looking to buy a printer like mine because of the results. It seems to print a little slow to my likings but I'm never pressed for time and I do like it. It does help to use the right paper for the right printing task however ,and the results will be superb.

Summary: Good printer but requires lots of ink
Review: Overall I'd say that this is a decent printer. The speed of the printer is very quick, especially if you set it to the speed setting in the drivers. I would say comparable to a laser printer.

Overall the quality of the print outs is good. The high quality setting you can't really tell that it was printed using ink, although at this setting the printer gets slow.

There are two bad things about this printer though. First and formost is the ink that is required to print with it. My last printer, also an epson, it took me nearly 3 months to use up the whole black ink. Now, with this printer I am buying a new cartridge every month, and they are expensive, about 20 dollars each. Think you can get some generic cartridge or ink refill? Well you can't, believe me, I have looked.

The second thing is the noise. Of course if noise really doesn't matter then I guess this isn't bad. Just saying though, you can't use this printer around someone sleeping, you will wake them up (since I have been waken up by this printer).

Summary: Great Prints,But!!
Review: The 777 does a very good job in the printing department however, it eats ink like crazy and is the noisiest printer I have ever heard (Dot Matrix included) I have had HP printers go for two years without refills, I'm at 5 months and am having to buy new ink with the same if not less printing. Out of the two complaints the noise has to be the worst. It will wake the family if you do any latenight printing. I've never heard a printer go through so much action before it ever prints the page and the funny thing is that when it is actually printing it is fairly quiet. It's the before and after that will drive you nuts.

Like I said, it prints very well but for 50 more bucks you can get an Epson or HP that won't wake the dead!!

Summary: Think twice before buying this printer :-(
Review: The Epson 777 is a very nice deal for the first few months of use. It does pretty good photos on photo paper for the price, print speed and text is also good for the price. Setup was very easy.

However the printer is an ink hog. Epson printers use a piezo electric head which is built-on to the printer and cost the same price as a new printer. If you clean the heads a few times, you will notice that you can use a lot of expensive ink. Generic cartridges can be used and chip programmers are available to reset the ink levels. However these may clog the print-heads and void the warranty.

I had my printer for just over 6 months and the print became banded and now it has stopped printing altogether. No amount of cleaning helped. I think the head needs relacing but it is too costly to bother repairing. The unit is a bit noisy, there is no economy mode, and the ink even if not used has to be chaged every 6 months!!! The printer won't print black and white if the color ink is empty.

Think twice before buying this printer, I would advise anyone purchasing an inkjet to check the price, availability and approx. how many pages you will get per cartridge. Also DO NOT buy a printer with built in print heads that cannot be changed!!!

Summary: Marketing for the 777 is misleading
Review: The Epson 777(i) will accept only Epson OEM print cartridges. Epson has installed a chip in its cartridges that defeats the use of aftermarket cartridges. I believe this is the sole function of the chip.

None of the advertising I have read discloses this attempt to force printer owners to use only Epson cartridges. The sales people with whom I spoke concealed this (or they didn't yet know about it).

The issue is the expense of Epson vs. aftermarket cartridges. My daughter, a student, uses approximately two cartrides every two months....Buying aftermarket cartridges [is much less than replacing with the OEM cartridges] with the same resulting printer output.

Had this been disclosed, I would have purchased another model such as the Epson 880 or another brand.

Summary: Epson Stylus Color 777
Review: The Epson Stylus Color 777 is a pretty tough little printer. It prints pictures on photo paper that looks like you had them professionally printed. I love the speed of this thing. A full color picture takes only a few minutes to print.
Pros:
Quiet Print
Fast Print
Quality
Cons:
Small Paper Tray
Expensieve Ink Cartridges

Summary: Didn't work from the get-go
Review: There was a time when Japanese products used to be reliable. Alas! I had problems with both the software and hardware of this terrible printer from the beginning. First, I spent 5 hours trying to overcome a persistent crash bug in the software, until belatedly finding a download patch from a third party. Then, when all began to seem well, the printer failed to print even a single page. Worse, since the level of ink in the cartridge is based on theoretical usage (not actual), it claimed that I had eaten up half my ink supply even though not a drop had been printed. At market prices, that's $15 in wasted ink.

To be fair, I'll give Epson one chance with the warranty. However, I'm aghast to read in the fine print that they "recondition" all parts from my returned printer. I can only hope my piece of junk doesn't end up someone else's piece of junk. It belongs in the recycling bin.

Summary: Slow when getting the paper to print, but neat quality
Review: This Epson printer might make a lot of noise and be slow getting the paper for printing, but it always prints out perfect quality pictures. If you want the best Epson printer, this is the one.
