Rating: Summary: typical HP product Review: It's a typical HP product. You can't kill it with anything less than a sledge hammer. It'll run till the cows come home.
Rating: Summary: MY WORST PRINTER, EVER!! Review: Not much to say, especially NOT MUCH GOOD, to say about this Printer, horribly BAD, unreliable "Performance," ... I Do NOT recommend it to anyone looking for a multifunction machine that will really be SOLID, and RELIABLE, to use!! ...
Rating: Summary: The best Review: Simply the joy and pride in my computer system right now. I am a very satisfied customer of this all in one printer. Two thumbs up (again) for HP.
Rating: Summary: Good printer, installation pain Review: The quality of this printer is excellent. It performs faxing, copying, and printing like a champ. Ink cartridges seem to hold up with a fairly large capacity, and HP's design is easy to refill if necessary. Scanning is fast, and I can for the first time scan multiple pages into my applications which support it, like Acrobat. One complaint: Installation of this printer is a royal pain. You can usually count on redoing the installation at least once. It's very sensitive to Windows XP/2000 permissions. HP uses a custom USB port interface, which has blown up on me during installation of other software.

Rating: Summary: All-in-one Perfect for Home Review: This All-in-one may be the perfect device for the home, providing excellent print quality, copy speeds that, although aren't blazing, are more than adequate for light-duty copying, an excellent scanner (with HP's own, very good scanner software) and a fax that can send document from the computer, sheet feeder or both. So far we've been completely impressed by the quality of the machine and the ease-of-use. With its USB interface, hooking it up to our Win XP system was a piece of cake (and, yes, although other reviewers have mentioned problems with XP, it appears HP has resolved those issues and now provides full XP compatibility with the out-of-the-box drivers). I would highly recommend this machine to anyone who needs all of the all-in-one's capabilities for the home or home office.
Rating: Summary: Almost perfect Review: This all-n-1 is almost perfect For anyone looking for a home office fax/printer/copier, this is what u want, it also has the best feature "auto-phone/fax switch", which allow you to have this hooked up to your home phone line without setting up distinctive ring (which costs extra) or its own phone line the only problem i am having with this is that sometimes it prints extremely slow, i dont know why cuz its not every time, just randomly for XP users ill say this, ignore all the other reviews, those ppl have no clue what they are doing install could not be easier, i plugged it in, winxp detected it and its installed, never even went thru the install process maybe its just me but i am sick of companies not giving you a printer cable. i thought that was finised now that most printers are USB, and USB cabe being alot cheaper than old printer cable, but this V40 is only USB compatible and comes with no cable, very disappointing
Rating: Summary: Buy this, not the Lemark x63 Review: This is the unit I bought after the extreme difficulty I had with the Lexmark x63 (see my review there). I have an IBM clone, Pentium 4 chip, 512 GB of room and I run Windows XP. There is varing opinions as to wether the Lexmark ran with XP. Apparently it won't. This machine does worry free. What a nice machine. The large fold out picture instruction sheet is very easy to follow. The CDROM install was pain free. The cartridge installation was a snap. It holds alot of paper in the bottom load tray, which keeps them flat, and not sticking up in the air like some rear load units. Colour quality is good. The real nice feature is that this is a stand alone fax, so you don't have to have you computer turned on or mabye even logged onto the Net to use it. It's reasonably quiet, and it sits on rubber feet. I paid [money] more (Canadian) for this unit over the Lexmark, and it was worth every penny. It's perfect for home/home office use. Bonus Arcsoft PhotoImpression and PhotoFantasy software was included so you can make special effect pictures. I didn't bother loading this. Further, it came with a French Language control panel cover for our friends in la belle provance. I'm unsure if the US versions have the cover in Spanish. Just remember that this machine doesn't have a glass bed for the scanner, so if you are constantly scanning things in from books, you may want to pass.
Rating: Summary: Best multi-function printer for your money Review: Unfortunately, HP discontinued this model. However, prints both documents and photos great. Works with XP, but you need to ensure you get the v40xi model. All other models will have compatibility issues.
Rating: Summary: Very good printer/copier/fax... Review: We actually have two of these v40's. We have two computer stations in the house so decided we would get the same printer for each, saves hassle buying differant cartridges for the printers. One is set up for using all its functions including fax and the other is used mainly for printing and copying. I really like these printers, they do it all quite well. I was amazed at how well they will print photo's...using good photo paper and setting the printer properly...this machine prints excellent photos...every bit as nice as my Canon Photo printer, and a lot faster. Though not as fast at printing doc's as a laser printer, it is faster than some other ink jets we have had. Being able to use the copy and fax modes as stand alones is a plus...don't even need to turn the computer on, saves time.
We have had both of these printers for about three years now and have had no problems or complaints. You get a resonable amount of printing from the cartridges and they arn't too outrageously priced. Recommend this one.
