Rating: Summary: inexpensive and uncomplicated Review: I got this printer in January while at college. This printer is very convenient and practical for basic reasons. It is quite cheap--I bought mine at just under $100, really easy to set up--I did it myself without confusion, and it prints quickly and nicely. My needs were straight forward and pretty elementary I suppose, and this printer is great at meeting my critera. Canon's print cartridges, both for black ink and multicolor ink, are incredibly price friendly. I was able to buy black ink for $8 and color for about $15 (give or take a couple of bucks at different stores). However, you will find you have to refill more often than with other printers. I had this printer for my 2nd semester--from January until mid-May--and went through 3 black ink cartridges. I never had to refill the color cartridge, as much of my printing was for research papers and things of that nature. For me, this printer is perfect. I think others with similar needs will conclude likewise.
Rating: Summary: The best one out there! Review: I looked for a long time for a pritner that would print not only text and graphics but one that work for family photos as well. After looking at expensive photo printers I bought the Canon s300 and I could not be more pleased. The photos are exceptional! I know some complain about it not having the separate inks but compare the cost of ink for this one to the individual inks of the others. The s300 is really the best one out and there and the price? Well need I say more!
Rating: Summary: Inexpensive to own and operate Review: I opted for this printer in a systems bundle over the normal Lexmark offering. I already own a S600 but wanted a printer for my kids to use and this was the choice for me. Graphics are good and so is text. Speed is high for this price point. I am using this on a T1220 emachines system on a home network and am sharing it with my laptop. Everything has worked to perfection. It has auto on/off power settings and ink cartridge meters. The other thing that made this my choice was the cost of ink replacement. My daughter uses Disney Magic Artist and can drain ink faster than she drains a gallon of milk (fast). Replacement cartridges are much more reasonable than other brands. Good Value printer!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Greatest Little Printer in TOWN Review: I print about 400 copies a month most financial analyses and some WEB articles. I just bought an HP 1115 Photosmart Printer. After an initial week of massive paper jams I returned the printer --based on advice from the HP support group and bought this printer instead. You take it out of the box - load the software and GO. It really pushes out black and white fast and the color is just fine. THIS is a fine printer and a real bargain.
Rating: Summary: Update to previous review Review: I wrote a review of the S300 back in March shortly after I bought it. I mentioned then that it does lots of whirring and clicking. Well having owned it for a few months I can now tell you that it does WAY too much whirring and clicking.I know it doesn't sound like too much of a chore but 30 seconds on start up then its a race to send what ever you want printed before it goes into another 30 second cycle of spasms as it goes into rest mode. Once it has done the 30 seconds of going into rest it needs another 30 seconds to get ready to print again. If you send something to print just as it starts going into rest mode you have to wait for about a minute. The actual printing takes about 5 seconds, its ridiculous. The print quality is still very good but I would not recommend it. I bought it thinking I don't do much printing. The frustrations of waiting all the time make it feel like I'm a power user. Next time I'll pop into a shop and turn a few on and off to make sure I don't end up in the same situation.
Rating: Summary: Good deal for the money Review: I've had this Canon S300 for about two months. It works quickly and well. The set up was easy. I found a reconditioned unit for [fairly inexpensive] which definitely made a difference. Nothing obviously missing or short of new. The black ink seems to go pretty quickly but compared to the Epson I had been using the Canon cartridges are really inexpensive.
Rating: Summary: Excellent product for the price Review: I've owned a Canon S300 printer for the past six months, and I've been very pleased overall with it. It prints high quality black and white text and SUPERB photographic images. The first time I printed a photo on this printer, using glossy paper, I thought I was looking at a conventional print created from 35mm film. The resolution is exceptionally high, color is accurate and there is no pixellation. When turning the printer on, it takes about 30 seconds for it to go through its start-up routine, which involves unexplainable machinations that are akin to uncontrolled muscle twitching. However, this is common among inkjet printers. I recommend this printer without any reservations.
Rating: Summary: Wow! Review: Just purchased this printer for my kid's birthday. I thought [for that price you] can't buy anything good these days. Boy, was I wrong! Without much expectation I plugged this thing in and gave it a test run. It printed totally dazzling 8.5x11 photo in just under 3 minutes!! [The] HP 1115 at my work did much poorer job in about 7 minutes. Bottom line is: don't get fooled by the [inexpensive] looks of this printer. This is definetely a diamond in the rough. Get it and spend that extra [money you save] on catridges and photopaper. You will not be disappointed; simply amazing product!
Rating: Summary: It's ..., it's fast, and it works! Review: OK, it's not a top-quality color laser printer - just get that out of your head if you're looking in this price range. However, it printed all 40 of my christmas cards with photos on cardstock PERFECTLY without EVER getting confused and printing gobbledygook. The photo quality isn't too bad, but graphics and text are beautiful. It has a slightly noisy warming-up period before each use, but other than that runs fairly quietly and quickly. The one drawback I see is that there is only 1 color ink tank, so if you print a lot of blue, you have no choice but to replace all 3 colors - and it does whip through ink cartridges if you're printing a lot of solid-color graphics. Good luck!
