Rating: Summary: For the price, you could do better. Review: I purchased the z23 model printer from Wal Mart as part of a package deal for use with my new computer. It came with everything except the USB cable, which was not a huge problem as a good cable goes for cheap. Installation on my XP machine was simple and took less than ten minutes, on my Windows ME machine it was just as easy. Image quality is acceptable for home use, but for better results, high quality print settings along with photo paper are a must. Print speed is acceptable, it took around fifteen minutes for me to print an 8x10 image using high quality settings which was fast compared to other printers I've used. However, the biggest problems I have experienced with the z23 in the one year that I've owned it are prices and availability of ink cartridges and paper handling. You would think that the retailer who sold the product would stock ink as well, but this is not the case. Wal Mart does not sell them in-store, but they are available through the on-line store or here, on Amazon. Regardless of where you decide to purchase additional ink, be prepared to pay. Ink goes for at least half of what I paid for the printer originally, around $20-$30. The unit's paper handling left something to be desired. While it can handle normal printer paper and photo paper without problems, envelope handling isn't as good. I've experienced frequent paper jams with size 10 envelopes. If you're like me and print a lot of envelopes, this can be really frustrating. All in all, for the price this printer is great for your home PC. Just don't expect to find good deals on ink, if you can find it.
Rating: Summary: Lexmark Printer Review: I recieved a Lexmark Z23 for christmas, it works great for the new computer I also recieved. It is compatible with windows xp and it is very easy to setup. I have found however, that it is nearly imposible to find the inkjet cartridges for it yet. I don't know if it is because I live in BFE Alaska or if it is too new for stores to carry. I was a little disapointed that while it comes with a color cartridge, it does not come with a black cartridge and so am relegated to ordering over the internet for something that should be a quick purchase in a local store.
Rating: Summary: good printer, at right price Review: I upgraded from my old epson inkjet. Am glad I did. This is much faster and quieter. Mine came with starter cartridges for color and black ink. I am planning to refill my own cartridges which if it works will be much cheaper than anything else out there. All printer cartridges are expensive and always seem to run out quickly if you do much printing at all. Cartridges are easily available at warehouse clubs and most large discount stores.
Rating: Summary: Expensive Junk! Review: I've owned this printer for about 1 1/2 years now. The bottom line is that it is expensive junk. The replacement ink cartridges will cost you more than the printer itself, with each running over $30. Unlike other brands, all three colors are in one tank, so if one color runs out you have to spend $30. The cartridges themselves work well for the first couple of printings, then begin to look poorer and poorer, until they finally die an early death. The software that comes with the printer is useless as well. It allegedly monitors ink levels, but it does not. Running the trouble shooter to align the print heads also does nothing. All-in-all, I'm going back to Cannon.
Rating: Summary: Not a good buy. Review: It is an average printer and the above mentioned prices are just enough. There is nothing really special about it at all. Only advantage is that it works both with MAC and PC. One BIG problem is: the ink cartridges are very expensive, more expensive the printer itself. So it is not a good buy. I used to have one do not recommend it.
Rating: Summary: Good printer for less... but... Review: It really is a nice printer from the standpoint that it has 1200x1200 resolution and it is nice and inexpensive... But on the other hand - it acts up like a baby with no warning. In the past month or so, it has been taking the paper in *sideways*!! Honest-to-god sideways! Obviously, an 11" long piece of paper is not going to fit through an 8.5" slot, and it crumples into a horrible mess... I've tried "hand feeding" it, but my documents still come out off center or askew. How much is a good printer worth?
Rating: Summary: You get what you pay for Review: Its a cheap printer and it works like a cheap printer. If you dont want to spend much money, this printer is the ticket... I think the color cartridge cost almost as much as the entire printer. If your looking to print photos or nice color presentations, avoid it. I bought it specifically to print a power point presentation while on the road. It worked, but barely. I did get the contract, so its all good.
Rating: Summary: NOT a good printer. Review: Man, the print quality is terrible, especially when you want to print in color. When this printer is done with whatever picture you want to produce the paper looks and feels like wet toilet roll. The black is used up exceptionally quickly and long before the actual cartridge is empty the black is already reduced to an unsightly grey. Plus it takes ages to print out even the most simplest of pages. Stay away from this one. It may be cheap but my best bet is that a more expensive printer would be a better one.
Rating: Summary: OMFG This is the last Lexmark I will ever buy! ... Review: OMFG LoL thought I was soo smart call my self doing some comparison shopping. Being ...that I'am thought all printer was created equal. Well for my needs anyway I just whanted something to print out letters and light printing work. Ok if you reading this do your self a big favor and don't buy this printer even if someone GIVES this PRINTER too you tell them NO THANK YOU. I CAN'T AFORD IT! I see why this printer comes free with most computer. Ok let me explane I was at deparment store looking at printers and notice that for the same dpi but for 20 or more dollars less Lexmarks normally cheaper than there competitors. Hay everyone heard of Lexmark pluss really for my printing needs even the cheapst printer has more stuff on it than I need; or stuff I will never use so why pay for it I say. Whent back to store bought some black ink ... =( ok thats why it was soo cheap thinking too myself at less I got a good unit. OMFG this dam thing drinks up INK like, I drink beer on a saturday night!! Trust me LOL I can drink some beer. This with out a doubt is the most expensive Printer on the planet! WTF Lexmark well make money of this ... thing just by giveing it way it use soo much ink. Let me tell you thought the ablity too print piturse was cool but can't afford it cheaper too have them done by a pro than useing this stupid thing. I use this prnter for the most part for printing letters and EQ maps off the internet, and the thing is set at normal print setting too. I refuse too give them anouther 70 dollars for ink just for 1 months use. OO by the way did I mention that if you don't use the dum thing for a few days it whant print eather! WTF and it doesn't work right with windows Xp eather, whant show you progress report untill its finsh. Duh =( Iam surprise the EPA is not after Lexmark because, this printer use soo much ink it is completely unecceptable.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Value Review: Really pleased with this printer. In the UK it's only £25 so it's cheaper than in the US - must be a first! Excellent quality compared with my former HP printer. OK so it's not the world's best but it does a good job for an all-round home printer - especially for the money.
