Rating: Summary: Great Scanner & Printer, but E-mail w/AOL a problem Review: I like the combination, easy setup. Epson tech support admits a problem with compatibility of the E-mail function with Apple 9.1 and AOL. You will pay a toll call, some delay, in order to find this out.
Rating: Summary: Not taking it back. Review: After comparing the print quality in best mode to my HP 970 CSE inkjet in best mode from the same source there is no comparison. The HP wins in print quality hands down. The CX5200 with its pigment ink is printing unsaturated colors and not sharp in best mode on my first day of use. The HP dye based ink colors are deep and the print is super sharp. I'm not taking this machine back to the dealer for a refund because the wife says the long life durabright ink is required for her scrapbooking. The software install is buggy on an XP home machine and the software is fairly worthless as well. Fortunately my MS Picture It that came with the Dell works with the scanner.
Rating: Summary: Software is not ready for XP prime time. Review: Executive summary: Owing this scanner/printer is a lot more convenient than going to the Kodak photo copy machine at the drugstore and probably cheaper in the long run.I followed the software install instructions perfectly for an XP home edition. The install program, for whatever reason, installed the CX5200 as two identical printers on my XP machine. These caused 12 install warnings. After deleting one of the duplicate printers the Epson software started working better. I deleted the software and reran the install. Same errors but no double printer setup. The scanner/printer feeds paper from the back which may be a problem for some users. The machine makes a very loud clunk when it grabs a sheet of paper. The print quality was slightly duller than the original scanned photo in default mode. (see other review that I have posted here)
Rating: Summary: Sent it Back Review: I bought this printer because of the Dura-Bright ink. My wife does alot of scrapbooking and I thought it would be nice to have the long lasting ink. I was replacing a 1 1/2 yr. old HP960c. I will admit that the pictures are very clear but not any clearer than the HP. It was the color that I thought was poor. Colors looked washed out and faded. They were just not as bright compared to the older HP. I sent it back.
Rating: Summary: Good machine for the price Review: I needed a new printer for my iMac running 10.2.4, and liked the features of the Epson Stylus CX5200. I liked the idea of having the scanner, copier and printer all-in-one, allowing me to preserve very limited desk space. First impressions? Fairly bulky machine. It is a tall unit (about 10" tall), and takes up quite a bit of room (17"wide by 19" long with trays extended). Still, it is less room than if I had to accomodate a seperate printer and scanner. NOISY. Yikes! My last printer was an Epson Color Stylus 880, and this is very loud in comparison. This might be a consideration if you will be using this machine in a shared office space or a central home location. It is difficult to talk on the phone if the machine is printing. Print quality and speed are excellent. No complaints about the performance of this machine. Terrific color copies and good-quality scans. As far as performance, I think all aspects of this machine work very well for this price. One final note, the Epson Stylus CX5200 is very quirky with Mac 10 X. It is fine when you are running OS X, and also fine when you switch to classic mode. The problem comes in when you switch back to OS X. The computer stalls the print queue, and then cannot find the printer. I called Epson about this and they say it is a known problem, and the problem falls on Apple. No fix is expected. (I have to restart my computer to print if I return from classic mode to OS X. Not very convenient.) Overall, good machine except for the drawbacks mentioned (size, NOISE, and OS X problems).

Rating: Summary: Epson CX5200 for PC & Mac...A True Friend to Both..Read Me! Review: As a PC & Mac User, I haved used the Epson CX5200 for 6 months now and here's the info every ready needs to know about this printer.... 1. Ease of Setup and Use. Just follow the instruction (yes fellow men, that means follow them to the tee!) and you'll be up in no time. 2. Print Quality. 9 out of 10. Good printing for Photo's but get the photo paper if you want to take advantage of the great pictures for home or friends. 3. Copy / Scan / Print & Fax (yes, you can fax). Copying a document is too easy as well as scanning. Faxing, is just as easy. If you have an internal modem (pc or mac), then you too can fax. Just push the scan button on the CX5200 and the software automatically takes you through the rest. Overall, you can network this printer as well and this out performs most of the HP series (PSC 2100 2200 7150 7350 7550). Avoid the CX3200 and get this one...5280 x 1440 print quality, who can go wrong.
Rating: Summary: STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRINTER!!! Review: I purchased a similar all- in one model cx5200 last year. I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT TROUBLE SINCE THE FIRST MONTH I BOUGHT THIS PRINTER! I am truly convinced
it is by far THE WORST PRINTER I HAVE EVER USED. I have run all the diagonostics, changed the cartridges over and over AND STILL IT NEVER PRINTS CORRECTLY! There are no instructions on the website or manual that addresses the problem besides " run nozzle check- clean print head" after 9 times it still doesn't print without lines. I have been using epson printers since the early 90's. I use one at work so I am famililar with all the quirks of these printers. I have tried EVERYTHING to get this to work. After I clean the heads, run a nozzle check 6-7-8 times MAYBE i'll get a week that it prints. Then, it stops printing again OR it tells me I need a new cartridge ( which are hard to find, by the way). I am getting the feeling I am the only person who bought this printer. I know my one year parts guarantee has run out.I have spent to much money on cartridges I could have bought another printer by now. And actually, I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER EPSON PRODUCT AGAIN.
Rating: Summary: A true piece of crap Review: I should have done my research before I bought this printer, but like a dumba#* I just bought the one that had cool features and a decent price. Like everyone else says, this printer will work for a year if you're lucky and then quit printing mysteriously all of a sudden. I will regret buying this printer and hate EPSON for a long time. I guess I will take everyone's advice and get an HP printer. Don't be a sucker!
Rating: Summary: So disappointing!!! Review: I bought this in May of 2004 and it barely lasted 7 months. I too am having the same problem everyone else has mentioned. It was a beautiful piece of equipment until I changed the ink cartridges, now it's just a piece of junk! I only wish I had read the reviews before I went out and bought $60 worth of ink cartridges and installed them!!! That $60 could've went towards a new printer, definitely not an Epson!
