Summary: excellent machine, works fantastic with Mac OSX
Review: when i was looking around to buy a multifunction, I was torn between the Epson CX5200 and the HP models of about the same price. the real issue was OSX 10.2.x compatibility - there seemed to be some nay-sayers on both. having bought, installed, and used the EPSON, allow me to assure all mac users (I'm running 10.2.6) out there that this thing installs, operates, and performs like a champ. driver installation was a simple two-file install, which activated all printing and scanning functions. the ink tanks are separate, so you save some cash, plus the printing is FAST and the output is really beautiful. the scan DPI and color is much higher than the HP models - in short, this is a safe buy that delivers a great product and a real workhorse appliance. copying is damn fast too.

only con: it has a large footprint. we're talking bigfoot here. but no prob.

Summary: awesome
Review: Great machine, less than 120$ with the rebate is a no brainer, machine is all you need, scanner, copier and printer all work very well, easy to set up, software is also very good. Machine is a solidly built unit. It makes some noise at start up, but big deal it will keep you awake. I bought a visioneer scanner a few months ago for the same price and it was a dude. It will fax out with the use of your computer. With the money you save you can buy a stand alone fax for less than 50 bucks with a phone ..

Summary: UPS loves me and Epson 5200
Review: I am on my second unit, keeps losing the yellow color, now my third unit has poor color and doesnt look anything like the picture trying to print. Scan and copy are great, they are great color and pure copy. To bad about the print side.

Summary: Awsome at-home printer
Review: If you don't care about fax and need a printer for pictures, text and occasional scanning, this printer is awesome, particularly for the price. I like the fact that the individual ink cartridges can be changed individually. Its really easy to use, prints great and scans great. My only complaint is it's size and it makes a bit of a racket when it does its actually printing is a squeak of gears and buzzing, but again, unless you're printing reams of paper, its not a big deal.

Summary: Perfect for Back to College
Review: I purchased an Epson C-82 and I was thoroughly impressed. I was able to print about three reams(1500 sheets) of paper before I needed to replace my black ink cartriage, that alone makes it perfect for college. I read that the CX5200 has the same specs. but more features and it comes with a rebate. This printer is a deal. Tip: NEVER buy cheap ink refills, they do not work in this printer as well as the Epson inks. It also prints at 22 pages per min and the computer does not need to be on to copy. What more could you want? If you cannot afford this, buy the C-82 ( about [money amount]).

Summary: Ep-son's got it goin' on :)
Review: I bought this printer to take back with my college. It will replace my canon printer and scanner (two separate units) to save space. It is kind of big, but it still takes up less space than two separate units.

The print quality is great and the DuraBrite inks are fabulous. I poured water on somethign that I had printed and it did not smear one bit! I use draft mode to print unless I am printing a picture. It speeds through the print job and spits out the pages very quickly. It does tend to snatch each page rather loud and violently, but after a few times, I stops noticing.

It scans and copies in pretty fast and in very good quality.

You have to use your computer in order to configure it to fax things, but other than that, this thing is great.

I really like the ink level indicator that appears while printing.....you always know when you are going to run out....that is sure to be very helpful....the DuraBrite inks are great and I do not think they are any more costly than other brands, in fact, they are probably less expensive and if you look around you can get some really good deal.

Bottom Line: Get this printer....it would be especially good for home and college.

Summary: The Best I've Owned
Review: First brand outside of Lexmark that I've purchased and I'm very pleased. It is quite loud when first taking the paper but after that it's a smooth ride. I do have a problem sometimes with the paper not loading. Stylish and full of features.

Summary: Bad experience
Review: I bought the Epson Stylus CX 5200 in March 2003. In July 2003 it refused to work. I contacted Epson Help and after running their tests over the phone they said they would send me a new one. It arrived after three days, this one kept sending 10 pages at once through the printer and telling me it was out of paper. I contacted Epson Help today. They ran some tests and are now sending me another one, this will make a total of three altogether. I appreciate their helpfulness and support but I have other things to do beside nursemaid a printer. I cannot reccomend this product....

Summary: Get rid of the noise easy!
Review: Just got this printer multi today, set up a breeze, install 15 minutes maybe. Am impressed with the scanner speed and quality and had read all the reviews here and elsewhere... glad I bought it. Great little machine fast, like the individual inks and best of all after fiddling with it for about 10 minutes I figured out you can set the paper choice to mat heavy weight and the loud noise is reduced to normal sounds of any other printer. It must be that by selecting heavy paper the feed doesn't just jerk hard to get the paper inside it pulls easier but not any slower it seems. And certainly my concerns about the noise were alleviated. We have a small office and it could have been a distraction.

I haven't put it to any hard tests yet but I think I'm going to remain pleased.

Try one for yourself but fiddle with all the settings and I think you'll be happier - it's not a plug and play right out of the box perfect idiot proof multi but it's worth the effort to change settings until it works like you want it. Scanner quality os great, color printing is excellent when you select all the high quality settings.
