Summary: Scanning with XP Pro
Review: My brother has this printer and XP Pro at school and he said that he has had no problems scanning. He has a Dell, and they sold the printer on their website, so the previous poster might have had an unique situation.

Summary: If user has XP Professional, will the scanner work?
Review: Hello! A poster with XP Professional said he could NOT scan with this Epson. (See the post dated September 8, 2003). The poster indicated that the scanning software that came with the Epson Stylus was not compatible with XP Professional. Has anyone else out there with XP Professional (not XP Home) had problems scanning with this device? Thanks!

Summary: CX5200 has been replaced by the CX5400
Review: Note that as of Oct. 15th, 2003 this product has been replaced by the CX5400. The biggest difference I can see with the CX5400 appears to be that it will do borderless photo printing. Also the CX5400 is very quiet. Based on reviews I've read, the CX5200 can be quite loud.

Summary: Even more impressive than I imagined!
Review: This is a fantastic machine. I'm running OS X 10.2.8. I followed the instructions, plugged the thing and it worked perfectly immediately. I won't be replacing iPhoto with Film Factory (included software...which seems fine) anytime soon, but the rest of the software works beautifully (I downloaded the latest software from Epson, which was newly posted 9/22/03).
I recommend this machine highly. It is very quiet and pretty speedy. I have no complaints about the click when the paper feeding begins (I was concerned about this because so many people whined about it in their reviews. Unless my machine is somehow quieter than some others or something, this must just be people stretching for something to be critical of. I can name several printers that were on the market one year ago, costing more than this machine, that are A LOT louder than this one. In fact, this is the quietest printer I've owned),
This is a very solidly built machine that really does exactly what it claims, and it does it well.

Summary: I give it 4 1/2 out of 5
Review: I've had this scanner/printer/copier now for about 6 months. It has done everything I've asked it to do even with my high standards. The print quality is actually better than I expected for the price. Photo printing on quality paper is good enough to frame and not have no one notice that it is not an original. The scanning is straight forward and the quality is top notch. Having the copy buttons indenpendent of the computer is a nice option so I can copy and print a file even with the computer off. The software is pretty straight forward and easy to install. Now for the reason I gave it a 1/2 star. The color cartrages are all in one. So if you run out of red you have to buy all the colors which could get expencive over time. But over all when this one dies I plan to buy another one just like it.

Summary: The DoItAll Printer
Review: I have had this printer for about a month now. I have used it with my home office for regular black & white printing as well as color printing for printing my digital photos, & Epson does a great job at both. The color photos even on regular paper are comparable to snapfish.com quality. While the scanning speed is OK, the printing is where it really excels. I agree with other reviewers that it is a tad noisy, but at $120 (with 20$ rebate) & free shipping, this one does it all.

Summary: DO NOT BUY IF YOU HAVE MAC OS X
Review: It is not possible to connect this printer to MAC OS 10.2.6 The computer will not recognize the printer even if you download the necessary driver from Epson(TWAIN 5.25A).

Summary: Won't Work with XP
Review: This may be a good product, but the software for scanning will not work with Windows XP Professional. Particularly frustrating was that Epson passed the buck to their software developer. I was asked to install patches from Microsoft, Epson and follow 5 pages of confusing instructions from New Soft Inc., the developer, and it still didn't work. Email contact with Epson was slow and mainly trivial. I found the whole business not worthy of a company with the reputaion (lt least the reputation they want to project) of Epson.

Summary: Epson Stylus CX5200
Review: This is the best multifunction printer in it's class. Print quality is outstanding and very fast. Also it is so quiet, and simple to use. I have had HP's in the past, but this Epson is the best printer I have had in a long time. Also you can't beat the price ...
