Summary: Great value and incredible ink
Review: This printer gives great results. It is a little slow and is noisy when it first starts, but nothing big. What amazes me is the ink. It is almost completely waterproof. Even submerging the paper in water for over an hour produced almost no running on regular paper. This printer also comes with full cartridges of all the colors, and uses seperate cartridges for each. Nice touch when usually they give a starter cartridge. I also liked that it was both USB and parallel compatible. Too bad it didn't come with the cables. Highly recommended for the price range.

Summary: Great printer, great price
Review: As a loyal HP printer owner, I was a bit nervous about getting an Epson. However, it prints gorgeous pictures even on plain paper for a lot less than HP. I printed some very old scanned pictures and the output was just beautiful. I didn't have to do any touch-ups in Photoshop -- the printer did all the work. As the previous reviewer said, that it's a bit slower with the "Photo Enhance" mode but the results are just great. I am also happy with how the C82 prints text -- clear and crisp and very fast. On top of all of this, it is a fabulous value for the home user who usually pays much more for similiar results. I recommend this printer for people who want great pictures and great text output.

Summary: Worth every pixel!
Review: Absolutely love the quality pics this printer puts out. The 5760x1440 dpi makes for lab quality printing of digital photos. Although a bit slow in "photo enhanced", it's worth the wait to see the brilliant color and resolution. The only problem I've had has been paper feeding. Using Kodak Medium Weight Soft Gloss, the feeder has had trouble "grabbing" the paper, and will usually feed in 2 or 3 sheets at a time. I just throw the blanks back in and get back to business. Thickness level can be adjusted however, it just hasn't been that much of a problem for me to attempt adjustments.
At this price, you can't go wrong. As an amateur photographer, I am more than pleased. With a good digital cam and prints like these, I can't justify going back to film.

Summary: Print head clogging problems outweigh print quality
Review: The print quality may be great, but as soon as you go a few weeks without printing or eventually end up having to change ink cartridges, this printer has major problems with the print heads clogging up with dried ink that can't be remedied by the print head cleaning utility and requires getting in there with a syringe.

Stay far, far away.

Summary: An excellent printer -- for a while
Review: The C82 was exactly what I was looking for in a printer--fast text printing and individual ink cartridges with big expected life spans, and I'm still fascinated because you really can dip your print-outs in water, and nothing happens to them--but none of that matters if the whole thing just stops working.

I bought the printer new, in March, 2003. In November, the black ink cartridge was running low, so I bought a new one and replaced it, but then it wouldn't print black AT ALL. And the colors mysteriously stopped working properly, even though they'd been fine a few days before. Technical support suggested my new ink cartridge was defective, so I exchanged it and tried again. No improvement. So I called Epson, and they made me run the printer head cleaning five times, and then, when that didn't fix it, they sent me a refurbished one because I was still under warranty.

I thought my problems were over, Epson--as crappy and unhelpful as their technical support had been--had taken care of everything. But, no, five months later the printer has suddenly stopped working again. I printed 94 out of 100 pages of text perfectly the other day, then ran out of paper. I put in more paper, and then all of a sudden the printer was having the same problems the old one had had. With black, everything has lines through it, it doesn't print cyan, and yellow seems kind of random. It still does magenta just fine, but that doesn't do me any good.

I tried e-mailing Epson about the problem--since my warranty is expired, and it costs almost $10 just to call--describing in detail what was going on and including a link to a scan of just how badly it was printing, and I don't think they even looked at it. They sent me a form e-mail back, telling me to clean the printer heads, even though I'd specifically stated in the e-mail that I'd already done that several times.

I thought maybe it was just me--that somehow I'm a printer killer. But everyone here seems to be having the same types of problems.

I love what my printer can do when it's working, but since that doesn't seem to be very often, I don't think I'll be buying anything else from Epson.

Summary: QTips Don't Always Work.
Review: Junk. It gave me good pics when it worked but now after a year and a hald of moderate to light usage the ink nozzles are clogged, regular maitenance won't help and the Qtips don't do the trick either. From the testimonial's I've read this printer has a habit of going on the fritz after the year warranty runs out. I guess I'll need to give my business back to HP.

Summary: The printer and service is GARBAGE
Review: I wish I read the comments before purchasing this printer about a year ago. I also have clogged printer head. I tried calling technical support, but they charge 9.95 if the printer is not in warranty. Mine is a little over a year. My blue and black ink does not print on paper anymore and cleaned the nozzle about 100 times and it does not change. It just eats up the ink (which I thought was the problem). What kind of company charges for technical support? This just shows that they have no faith in their own products and that is how they make money. It was a waste of money to purchase this printer. I will never buy Epson products again! If I can give it a negative star, then I would

Summary: Print heads clog up-waste of money.
Review: Had this printer for less than 2 years and was having poor printing results. I spent $55 on new ink cartridges and got no better results. I have cleaned the nozzle heads at least 20 times and no improvement. This printer is dead. Just as many others have posted, the print heads on this printer clog too easily and when this happens it's for sure death for the printer. Grrrrr!

Summary: Mine is broken too
Review: After about 18 months mine does not print at all. Like many others, I just wasted $70 on new cartridges only to find I'm going to throw them out with the printer.

Summary: Clogged Ink
Review: I am writing this review after reading several people complain about clogged ink jets. I too had this problem, and I also only used epson ink. It is easily solved however, with some Q-tips. When you change cartridges, swab the area where you install the ink cartrdges with a Q-tip. With that simple maintenence, you will end your clogged ink jet problem.
