Summary: we just love this printer!!
Review: I have to say this printer is outstanding for the price! It's fast and easy to use. We've printed so many photo's and the picture quality, color and detail is just incredible. We have found that picture quality is better if you use the epson heavyweitght matte paper. The glossy paper looks great too but the color is much deeper and more detail stands out with the matte. We purchased this printer primarily for printing text, which is faster than I expected, but we cannot say enough about the photo quality, even on basic printing paper. We like the idea of the individual ink cartriges, which are easy to replace.
Overall we are very happy with this printer and have no regrets on our purchase. I would recommend this to anyone who's looking for a high quality printer at a reasonable price.

Summary: Inexpensive and Reliable
Review: I've owned Canon, HP, Lexmark, Compac, and Epson printers. Have had problems with all EXCEPT the Epsons. This one is my latest and I'm very happy with it. ... Good customer support online or by phone. Cartridges reliable and inexpensive, compared to others. ...

Summary: Great Printer For the Price!
Review: This is the best printer I've owned yet. It prints high quality prints, and the DuraBrite inks! They are really cool! It's a little noisy, but this beats the free printer I got with my PC by a long shot! I can print stuff right from my digital camera......now I just need a new camera, as my resolution on the camera isn't as good as the printer can print..... :( Ah what a vicious circle.

Summary: ATTN srvfan36: Check Your Model
Review: I think you may be referring to the Epson C62, which is an older printer, not the C82 the much newer model. I also got a C62 free with a computer purchase and didn't think much of it.

Summary: Another junker from Epson
Review: I got this for free with a computer purchase. It printed beautiful pictures, but was noisy, clunky, and slow. It lasted 4 months before self destructing. Similiar experience as with an earlier Epson Stylus. Now I've ordered a Canon, should have done that in the first place.

Summary: Best Printer I Ever Owned
Review: I have been a die hard fan of HP Printers for many years. As I needed a new printer, I did some checking around and came across the C82. I have heard good things about Epson and thought I would give it a try. Installation was a snap. I took the printer out of the box and was printing within minutes. This is the best printer I have ever owned for photos. They look like I had them done professionally. The only drawback is the printer is very noisy loading paper. Other than that, I would recommend this printer to anybody.

Summary: Purrrrrfect
Review: Quiet And Clear.
Printer did refuse to print labels with 1/8 inch separation between them. Not until 1/4 was placed between them did the prining not drop off at the tail!

Summary: A GREAT Alternative to a dedicated photo printer.
Review: Like most inkjet buyers you probably desire everyday printing and super quality photo prints (in one printer)... but don't wan't to be burdoned with the high cost of owning/maintaing a 6 color true photo printer.

Yes the 6 color printers work great (I also own an Epson 875DC that is being replaced by the C82), but the ink cartridges drain ink faster than a gas guzzling SUV. THUS leading you to desire 2 things:
- larger ink tanks
- separate color ink tanks

Dedicated color ink tanks in a 6 color machine will put you into a very expensive printer (Epson 2200 etc)... so let's change lanes a bit.

Ok you want separate and big ink tanks... so lets go down to a high end 3 color machine like the C82 and here's what you get (and lose).

What you get:
- Speed, it's a fast printer
- Instant dry ink.. no more soggy photo pages
- separate ink tanks which appear to be about TWICE the capacity of the competing Canon (i850 etc)
- BRILLIANT photo prints on semi-gloss or matte paper (especially Epson Colorlife semgloss paper)
- Ability to print great photos on regular paper
- Really nice text

What you lose:
- Super Glossy prints.. the ink dries on top of the paper which is essentially coating OVER the glossy finish.. so these prints while not terrible will not pass muster.

- Selection of photo paper. I've found the BEST paper for this printer is Epson Colorlife semgloss paper. It produces a nice shiny finish.. but is not bumpy enough to degrade your picture quality.

Bottom line... If you want a printer that can do it all.. from documents to digital photos this printer is an absolute winner.. IF you can concede yourself to semigloss/matte photos and live without high gloss prints.

For me this was an easy sacrifice... who needs 50 kinds of photo paper cluttering their desk anyway... find the one paper that works and stick with it.

Also to be noted.. Epson printers use a print head that is part of the PRINTER not part of the ink CARTRIDGE. Making the Carts slightly cheaper, but you must be more careful to avoid clogging your print heads (be sure to turn it off).

Summary: This is the One to Get !
Review: This is one great inkjet printer. The text print is absolutely flawless, just perfect. Photos are equally good as well. One tip to remember when printing photos with the Stylus C82 is never select the Glossy paper setting when using actual glossy paper. Under the "Glossy" paper setting the printer uses only 3 out of the 4 colors available, so the pictures look "flat" especially if there are a lot of dark images to develop. Black is omitted under the glossy setting so the printer will make black using red, blue, and yellow, hence the flat look. To get around this make sure you select the"Matte" paper setting. This will trick the printer into using all four colors regardless of the type of paper you are using.

Summary: Thumbs up!
Review: Overall I liked the printer. Good speed but a little loud.
I would recommend to anyone that wants good value for the price. The printing quality is excellent.
I had a problem with the printer in the beginning, called Epson and they sent me out a new printer with no hassle. I am pleased with Epson's service and the printer.
Thumbs up on this one!
