Summary: What a GREAT UNIT!
Review: I needed a sheetfed scanner (with an ADF) that I can archive a large number of documents in my office. My first plunge into the world of sheetfed scanners was the Microtek ScanMaker 5950. I was extremely disappointed with the software and the fact that I "ran out of memory" after scanning only one page. I returned the unit and bought the HP 4110 after seeing it on sale at Staples. All I can say is WOW! What a great little unit. I don't really fax much, so I haven't used that function, but I can comment on the functions I thought were great below.

COPY
This unit is excellent for individual copies. You won't get top notch quality here, but in a pinch, it performs this function very well.

SCANNING
This was the main reason I bought this unit. I needed a scanner with an ADF that I can "load and forget" my items. The unit shined here I scanned everything from magazine articles, to paperback book pages, to multiple page documents without any trouble whatsoever. I scanned a 15 page document reasonably quick straight to PDF (I had a plugin for this before installing the printer, so I don't know if it's an included feature).
Only one time did I have paper jam. With any scanner, you can expect that at some point. With the Microtek model, this was a nightmare. I actually had to destroy the copy to get it out of the machine. With the HP, it was a cinch. I opened the door and it was right there. Very easy to fix!

PRINTING
If you are looking for a "reasonable" printer for personal copies, this machine fits the bill nicely. Again, the quality is not stellar, but it functions just fine for basic printing needs (which is all I need!). The "QuickDraft" mode is adequate and the printer is fast in this mode.

FAX
This is a function I don't use and didn't need the unit for. I've read that some people had problems here.

Overall, I'm very happy! If you needs are basic printing, scanning, and copying, this unit serves it up nicely!

Summary: Great little machine for the price!
Review: I think for $150 this is a great little machine, I haven't had any problem with it and I have it about for 4 months. All the futures worked just fine for me but I use it at home in about an avarage level..so not too much. At the beginning I had problems with paper jam, but I figured out I shouldn't put the papers too much in the machine, just right on the tray where it can reach it and pull it inn.
Then it took me a while to be able to send and receive a fax; I thought I was doing something wrong which I did = had to adjust the answering machine for 5 rings and leave the fax machine on 6 rings (this is how it is originally when you set up the Fax Setup Wizzard). But it wasn't the machine's fault so I am really pleased with it and I would definiatelly recommend it for in a home-office or in a low-traffic office. I think this is the most this machine can handle. But for $150 not bad!

Summary: Not too bad for a basic multifunction
Review: Let's face it, this is a multifunction printer that costs under $150.

When you purchase one piece of equipment to do many things, you'll always be unhappy with at least one feature. For me, I needed a printer for my occasional printing at home (a few pages a week) that doubled as a fax. The copy feature and the scanner were pluses.

PROS:
- the HP software that allows one to send faxes straight from Word and create quick and easy cover sheets is pretty nice.
- the buttons on the machine are easy to use and not difficult at all to figure out. Want to copy? Press copy. Want to copy in color? Press copy, then color.

Photos print out alright, but I wouldn't recommend this as a photo printer. If you want high quality photos from your digital camera, use one of the online services or the machine at the store.

If you are truely considering some high level printing for a home office, don't buy this. If you do some printing, copying and faxing from home but use your office or some other location for the majority of your work, this is an excellent choice.

The install was no problem at all on my XP Home and Pro computers. Windows 2000 and Mac OS X worked fine as well.

Summary: Why oh why did I buy from HP?
Review: My officejet 4110 printer has not been functional since I purchased it new from the store back in February of this year.

Product has smart, compact design, however I did assume that the product would assume a functional, not just decorative function!

Despite trying to resolve the problem with HP Websites and Phone calls to engineers, my OfficeJet 4110 has failed to function, I made a final call to customer services to report this.

During this phone call I was told that HP would send a replacement printer, which I naturally assumed would be new, like my printer was when I first purchased it from PC World.

You can imagine my horror when I received this replacement printer only to realise that it was a refurbished one which in fact looked NOTHING like my Officejet 4110 - I don't recognise the model from anywhere, and can only assume that it has been compiled from any old bits and bobs lying around the HP factory! Furthermore one of the hooks to hold the paper in-tray is broken.

I have emailed HP to let them know how unhappy I am about this, that I will be mailing their refurbished printer back to them, and that I expect a NEW replacement identical to the officejet 4110 I purchased.

I too had read negative reviews of HP Customer Service from people who had bought HP products, and assumed it would not happen to me.

I am awaiting HP's response with bated breath, & I will let you know what happens.

Summary: It is horrible
Review: My parents bought this printer because of its fax scan and print capability. I personally own a *almost* brand new HP laptop less than a year old. We configured this computer over the network so i could print. Well, it works fine... until you reboot. When you reboot, and go back into word, and try to change fonts, it will crash. I even did a factory install. Didn't change anything. HP doesn't have any support email for this on the site. The greedy people at HP also decided to not support network printing on this computer, thinking you should buy 1 HP printer per computer. Now i am going to go buy a new printer out of my pocket, and go as far as to pay 10 times more to get a brand that isn't related to HP. By the way, i'm not 12, i just didn't want to have to sign up for Amazon.com to complain about this poorly made product.

Summary: Don't expect too much
Review: Obviously this unit is a powerful and slim piece that you will keep it for a while. Unfortunately, the accompanying sw is a bit fussy and extreme slow in my PIII 933 machine with 512MB ram. Even you call up the change settings dialogue take you almost 10 seconds. The printer driver does not offer much for you to choose from, for example, you can;t simply tell the printer to print a doc in black and white when it contains some color in it.

You don't even expect to save your fax in the PC where HP does not offer this option.

Epson prints photo much better than HP, you find your photo is much darker comparing to what you actually see in your PC screen. To honor good quality, you have to make your image brighter by trial and error before you got what you actually expect.

While the price is low relative to what HP offer in this unit ... Don't expect too much.

Summary: Stay away from this product
Review: Please stay away from this product, unless you like troubleshooting software installation. HP website mentions too many issues, and I personally went through the pain of having to reinstall my windows xp home os.
At times it will install but not the complete software. On top of that your os will start behaving strangely. You will not be able to browse my computer.
This is based on personal exp. HP support will not be able to help you much. Trying to solve the two icon problem, if you follow the steps given on hp site you will end up installing , uninstalling , reinstalling, re-uninstalling....

Summary: Disappointed. Will not print docs in page number order.
Review: The 4110 software is defective and they (hp) will not fix it.
The software will not print in reverse order, e.g. from page 1 to <end>. So, you have to manually reorder the pages (if the document is longer than 1 page).
I talked to tech support and many others at HP. They recognize the problem but management will not fix it. (It's a simple fix.)
Carley brags about taking care of users. I couldn't ever get anyone in management on the phone to report the problem.
This ends my dealing with HP.

Summary: Paper Jam
Review: The HP 4110 is an ok for small jobs. If you will use the device on a daily basis I would certainly not suggest this unit. The paper feeder seems to jam often. After looking at the feeder device, which is only on one side, you can understand why there is a paper jam problem. I upgraded to the HP 6110X1 and it is working without issue.

Summary: What A VALUE
Review: This is a number one entry-level all-in-one machine. The set up time took less than twenty minutes..Each and every function is great. For the light user it's great. It is not a high-speed production unit. If that's what your looking for try
try spending at least $3,000. more. I make 10-15 copies , fax 2-3 items, scan numerous items every day. Once again,
it is a great value
