Review: This is my first photo printer - I'm using it with OS X and the new iMac. My camera is also Canon (G2) and I use Photoshop Elements (this is key) to adjust tone. Print quality is exellent and it works seamlessly with the Apple products. My favorite paper is the Canon Photo Paper Plus Glossy.

Summary: Why develop film ever again?
Review: The last printer we had was the HP880c and we thought how can this get any better 4 years ago.Canon included some 4x6 photo paper with the printer and WOW. The photos this things produces are unbelievable and indistinguishable from developed film assuming the camera that took the photo is a high quality camera. Canon camera owners should definitely use this printer as they have a program called Easy-PhotoPrint that uses the EXIF image data attached to the photo to optimize the printing of the photo so that it matches the exact situation in which the photo was taken.

Summary: Love it so much I'm buying a second one!
Review: This printer exceeded all my expectations. Definite plug and play - super easy with MAC OS 10 as well as system 9. Print photos, text, layouts, everything. I use iphoto, photoshop, quark xpress, powerpoint, etc. Colors are very true - both to PMS and in photos. Easy to calibrate. Love the individual ink tanks - have gotten surprisingly good prices for supplies from Canon and BJ's. Have at the office, now buying for my home.

Summary: Exceeded A Newbie-Perfectionist's Expectations
Review: I consider myself very tech-savy, but I've always hated printers. Well, this was the first PHOTO printer I've purchased, and I'm more than happy. I did all the research and homework and this was hands down the winner based on the data out there. My experience has been awesome. I am kind of a skeptic when I read all the data, but this printer really has exceeded my expectations. Easy to install and print pictures. And I'm really impressed at the quality! You won't be disappointed. If you are, there's currently nothing on the market in this price range to make you happy!

Summary: Best photo printer I've owned
Review: I was skeptical of this printer even after reading all the glowing reviews here on Amazon. How could any printer be this good, I thought. Now I am an owner myself, and the praise was well justified. The first thing I noticed about the printer was that it was significantly smaller than my old Epson Stylus C82, and much more sturdily built. After setting it up and printing a web page, I was amazed at how QUIET this printer is. It whispers compared to the popping and grinding noises of my old Epson. Then I printed a photo on some of the Canon glossy paper that came with the printer. I was amazed at how fast it came out - the box said 37 seconds for a 4x6 and that seemed about right. This was the first time I've owned a printer that actually printed as fast as the box claimed. The best part was looking at the photo. As many of you have said, it looks like it came from a photo lab. I looked as close as I could under a bright light and I could not see any dots, and the colors were great, probably due to the six different inks. Hands down it beat the quality of any other photo printer I have owned. And the print was borderless, so it looked like a real photo. I then tried a borderless 8x10 on Epson glossy paper and once again it printed fast and with great results. I am so impressed I plan to buy the new Canon A80 digital camera when it comes out in Oct. to use with this printer. If you are looking for a great photo printer for your digital camera, this is the one. And buy it from Amazon, they have the best price on the web with free shipping and no tax.

Summary: Very pleased!
Review: I'ved used my new i950 for 3 days now and I'm very pleased. Followed the instructions and had absolutely no problems installing on XP home, Service Pack 1. The color prints, with no editing, are excellent. I printed on high setting for photo glossy paper. I had a bunch of Epson photo glossy paper and I am able to use that paper with almost no dectable difference over the Canon paper. Accidently I printed a sheet on standard setting and plain paper. I was shocked at how good the quality was, even on the Epson paper. The speed is much, much faster than my Epson stylus photo 750 and the i950 is so much quiter.

Summary: Amazing photo printer, excellent for text, too
Review: An outstanding printer. Photos on this printer are indistiguishable from normal film finishing. Printer is fast, quiet, moderately inexpensive to run. Paper handling is good; never have had a jam. A special bonus: text quality is excellent, letters are crisp and well-defined. Annoyance: envelopes do not print well; the ink smudges on the leading edge.

Review: I was a bit skeptical about home photo printers, but the Canon i950 won me over. I've been using it for 2 months now, and I'm still amazed at the quality of the pictures. I consistently get crisp, clear pictures with beautiful color. The printer is easy to set up. Buy the Canon Photo Paper Plus Glossy for best results.\

Summary: Great quality for price
Review: I did extensive research and examined photos printed from our 3.2 megapixel digital camera (Canon A70) on every competitor (esp. HP 7550 & Epson). The i950 was far and away the best photo resolution in anything near this price range. A few notes over the three days I've been playing with it:
(1) Definitely use Canon paper for the best results, although I have found little to no difference between the Photo Paper Plus Glossy and the more expensive Photo Paper Pro, especially for day-to-day use and snapshots
(2) Printing speed really is as quick as advertised--about 40 sec. for a borderless 4x6 at best resolution
(3) Bundled software is a mixed bag--the Zoom Browser is fairly worthless, but the Easy PhotoPrint works well doing just what the name says and supports Exif Print. Not important to me as I use separate photo editing software (Paint Shop Pro)
(4) I haven't had it long enough to know if the separate ink tanks will save money. The printer uses 6 of them... One of each is included with the printer
(5) I'm using this only for photos with a separate HP laser printer for text. Text printing is certainly passable, but again, not my concern.
(6) The Canon i850 is also an excellent photo printer--not quite up to the standard of the i950, but it would be my choice in the next tier down in terms of cost
(7) As many others have remarked, you will need to purchase a USB printer cable separately
(8) Absolutely no installation issues for me (Windows XP Home) and was up and running in 30 minutes or less with a picture in my hand

Summary: Just one word - WOW!
Review: I hesitated for quite a while trying to decide between the HP7550 and the Canon i950 (I had ruled out Epson due to numerous customer complaints about how their printers would break pretty fast).
I studied the demo photos over and over again before finally deciding to go for the i950 - boy am I glad I did! Everything you read about how great the photos look is absolutely true. I was a little concerned about how text printing would appear on plain paper, but it's really not bad at all (maybe the HP7550 is a little better here). But when it comes to photos - all I can is I was totally impressed, and I'm not that easy to please!
I use a Kodak digital camera (DX4330 - 3.1 MegaPixel) to capture my pictures and they print absolutely perfectly on the Canon photo paper plus (4 x 6). Using Kodak ultima picture paper (it's not glossy) the results were not as good but were certainly acceptable. I even tried the more expensive Canon photo paper pro (they included a sample of 5 with the printer) and it was fabulous - but the results didn't seem much better than with the Canon photo paper plus which is less expensive.
As far as installation is concerned, be prepared to spend some time removing a lot of orange tapes placed all over the printer to help prevent damage during shipping. You also have to install the print head and the ink cartridges, but it's well documented and not difficult at all.
So if you're still trying to decide between this printer and some others, I'd say go for this one. It's everything they say it is - you'll definitely be happy!
