Summary: Can I add some extra stars to this?
Review: 'Cause it's worth an extra star! When you pull a 13x19 PERFECT print off this thing, first time out - and the responses you get are always the same ("Holy Cow!" [Amazing] "How'd you do THAT?" "Let's frame that NOW!") you know you've got a winner.
This printer takes you to the next level. Or maybe jumps you up a few levels. If you have dreams of what your photos would look like on a larger scale, dream no more. This will produce prints that will SHOCK people, make them do a double-take, stun them into speechlessness, and garner comments for your work that you can really take some satisfaction in.
I don't want to paint a perfect picture here, I know others have had minor problems to report - nothing's perfect, but this comes close. I've ONLY done 13x19 prints so far (about 20), so I can't speak to how it handles other sizes or special print runs. BTW, Amazon's pricing on this printer - and the 13x19 paper - is unbeatable - I know, I researched this for months before jumping in. Now I'm going back through all my best shots and resizing UP!
Be aware of this - larger prints will make every scanned speck of dust look like a boulder. Before you hit print, take the time to 'heal' your image completely. Look at it at 'actual pixel' size, take your Photoshop healing brush (not clone tool) and clean ALL that crap up, section by section. Work it in a grid so you don't miss anything, because at $2 a sheet you won't want to trash-and-burn till you get it right. I spent about three hours on one scan last weekend, an older negative with some dropouts. It drove me crazy, made my eyes bleed, but the final print was a big YES!!

Summary: Epson user switches to Canon
Review: +: Wide format, fairly affordable (especially since the recent price drop), Print heads are less troublesome than on Epson models, ink tanks seem to last longer than with Epson printers (maybe because I am not cleaning them constantly), it's quiet, makes nice photos, and my favorite - print head assembly is replaceable!-: Annoying to customize settings in OS X.. actually, I haven't been able to choose a custom paper size yet, sometimes output is enlarged (I know - weird, right?), had problems with saving color settings, prints like crap on plain or non-inkjet art paper (Epson is better here).

Summary: Canon i9100 Review
Review: After reviewing several review I bought the canon i9100 photo printer. I have been exceptionally pleased with the printer. The colors are outstanding. I have enlarged a high resolution photo (taken with a Nikon D100) and printed an 8.5 X 11 and its as good as any film picture taken with my Nikon N90 camera. I would recommend this printer to others.

Review: Being an avid 35mm film and now digital photo taker (primarily nature/wildlife) and having battled through trying to print off both digitally captured and scanned film images on an old Canon BJ, the time was right for a change. I researched the i9100 and Espon 2200 for some time as I wanted the best quality I could get without bankrupting myself and to have the capability of printing large format prints. The Canon won out based on comparative reviews on Amazon.com, relative speed and price as well as compatability with the rest of my camera/digital imaging system. I've been using the printer for 3 weeks or so now and printed approximately 300 prints, mainly 5x7 but also numerous 8x11 and a couple of 13x19s. The sources for the images ranged from 2mp p&s digital to EOS10D digital SLR to slides scanned from between 2000dpi and 4000dpi. Without exception the i9100 has delivered with excellent results. The printer is fast (almost too fast to keep up with if you get distracted with some other task while printing off multiple pages of 8.5x11) and unbelievably quiet (normal paper loading sounds when the sheet is first fed in but that's about it). Ink usage is pretty reasonable - I feel like I'm replacing a cartridge fairly regularly but I'm printing off large volumes and haven't noticed anything abnormal. My old printer used to fail to print one ink when first used for the day and required constant cleaning/nozzle checks to come up with usable results. The i9100 has had no such issues and doesn't seem to mind if you don't clean heads that often. I would recommend that you use good quality paper with the printer but then again why spend this sort of money and feed cheapo paper into it?! Canon's papers work well, naturally, but Kodak Ultima works great with no profiling adjustments etc. Overall, highly recommended to those who want to print high volumes of prints, large size prints and who care about top quality yet don't want to wait around all day just to get one print to work.

Summary: Great Photo Printer
Review: I did some research and thought that for me the Canon i9100 was the best option of excellent printing quality, flexibility, and had pricing that was not out of this world. I have just printed my first few photos and I am amazed. Oh, that bit where they say it prints really fast...True. Setup was straight forward except for a paper feed problem, see below. Pictures are so clear I cannot believe that these photos came from an ink jet. Boy have things changed since my HP 500 B&W. I have an older 2 mega-pixel Nikon Digital camera and the 4x6 images are sharp on this printer. I needed to decrease the resolution to around 250 pixels/inch to fill a 4x6 photo properly. This did not seem to impact the perceived quality much if at all. Time to get the Nikon D100!!! I know...I know, I got a Canon printer but I have a big investment in Nikon lenses already. Drawbacks:

I have not played with the included Canon Photo Software too much. The first picture or two that I printed with it had banding in the colors (like JPG artifacts). The canon software has photo batch options that are already set for 4x6 and other common paper sizes. This is a plus. The option to instantly print a borderless picture was neat but I will pass on this software until I can get the quality where I want it. Fiddling with the software or checking for updates may fix this problem. Oh, one of the paper guides got misaligned. I think this might of happened when I was taking off the miles of shipping tape. I had quite of few sore words toward the printer until I finally saw the misalignment way down in the area where the paper is fed. I knew that the paper should not jam every other page.
======== Shhh, can let the wife know. Now I have my eye on the Canon 9900F scanner to complement this wonderful printer. Well back to printing. I need to work a little bit on color correction but that is all part of the fun.

Summary: Better than expected
Review: I had an Epson 890 Photo Printer and the print head clogged up, and it would have been more expensive to replace the head than to buy a new printer.
I had some doubts about this Canon i9100, but once I ordered and received it , this printer proved to be better than expected.
No problem set up, got it running right away, beautiful print out.
I have a test page, made of the basic window colors in different shapes. With my old Epson 890 I spent several nights, tried all the settings, calibrated the screen matching, etc, etc, and I could never ever get the right colors across the whole spectrum. The colors were always skewed at one end or another.
Guess what, the Canon printed from the very beginning, with standard settings, all the colors in the right COLOR. Tried different papers and settings, always came out perfect.
The best:
really nice color reproduction, large size prints, about 5 to 10 times faster than my Epson, individual color cartridges, replaceable print head, very quiet operation.
The questionable:
Will have to see how long the prints last, since definitely the Epson has an advantage with long lasting inks. I will get some Canon paper and experiment with it.
The bad:
I wish it came with at least a couple of papers in all different sizes (not only 4x6), and an USB cable. C'mon Canon, couldn't you throw in a $5.00 USB cable on your best printer?

Review: I have always been an HP fan for some reason... I probably thought they were best. Recently, I decided to purchase the Canon i9100 for long term cost savings (My cost of $15/color). Now that I have it... it prints beautiful camera images and it prints them FAST! I am very happy with it, no problems so far. I have been putting ILFORD paper through the printer with excellent results... plus it is wide carriage for enlargements up to 13"x19"...wow. I have no trouble recommending this printer...it wastes less consumables than other printers.

Summary: Wonderful Photo Printer works with Airport Extreme USB
Review: I have always been an HP fan, but this printer changed my mind. The wide format speaks for itself, but beyond that, I have noticed improved printing speed and print quality. More importantly, the Canon i9100 works perfectly with my Apple Airport Extreme wireless base station. I installed the software (native OSX support) and then attached the printer to the USB port on my Airport Extreme. Rendesvous found it immediately! I have noticed that the delay between clicking print and sending it to the printer is virtually eliminated with the i9100. The only drawback I can see is that I wish it had a larger paper tray. But that is a small problems for a wonderful six color printer!
