Summary: Great Equipment, Just Slow
Review: I got the HP multi-function printer/scanner/fax/copier for work. It does a great job at everything it supposed to do. The sheet-fed scanner is a huge time saver. I can copy, fax, or scan without having to switch pages on the flatbed. It saves a tremendous amount of time. The color printing is of excellent quality. It was so good, I found myself having to scan old photos for half the people in the office, which was not a time saver.I only had two complaints. When I first got it, the sheet feeder squeeked. It did the job, but it was very annoying. I finally got sick of it and sprayed some WD-40 they had at the office here in all the wheels and gears, and the squeeking stopped. The other complaint I have is the speed. The scanner resets to home position after each sheet-fed page instead of staying where it is and waiting for the next page. Printing also takes some time, even on lower quality print jobs. If I had a customer waiting for a print job, it was always much faster just to print to the network laser and walk across the building to get it. The software can get awkward on multiple pages, but there are plenty of software packages out there that can do the job, including that which comes with Windows XP. In the end, I think it would make a great home device, which is what it's really built for, or a nice desk machine in a small office.

Review: We bought this printer/copier/fax/scanner as an addition to our business. I didn't expect much, as my experience with computers and peripherals is in the "throw the [thing] out the window" category. This machine is fast, intuitive, set up is a breeze (on xp). The color printer is pretty good, actually. You get nice photos on the right paper with the right (ok price) cartridge. We now only use our other photo printer for demanding very high quality images. Otherwise this one does the job on a daily basis. We also threw out our headache fax machine and for regular day to day scans, we don't need the peripheral quickie scanner at this point. And the photocopier is good, remembering its an inkjet output, not laser. Does most work-related thing ok. Immediate noticable minuses:
Limited size of scanner (only 8-1/2x11)
Color printing is a bit slow on hi-res. I would definitely recommend it for the smaller business or that convenient extra printer/copier/fax/scanner within a larger office or a home-working type.
This is not a top-quality anything. Quality on all the sections doesnt match other top peripherals, as one should expect, but this machine is really a matter of convenience and at a good price..., and it's not to bulky. Good inexpensive product, I'd say.

Summary: Absolute Worst Printer.....I Will Never Buy HP Again!!!!!
Review: The printer was easy to set up out of the box..I will admit that... that was the only thing that was easy to do.... the install was IMPOSSIBLE.... I am running Mac OS 10.3.2 the latest OS. I used the driver from the CD. The computer never was able to add the printer even though it found it. The computer was able to try scanning but it had communications errors. I was never able to get the drivers to finish the install. I called HP Customer Care. HAHAHA! They suck so bad! India is really sinking the levels of tech support to new lows. After being sent to Apple for tech support (HP needs Apple to fix HP's problems???? *confused here), I was sent back to HP. It was their driver after all. The woman told me my computer was the cause of the problem. It was not because I has just reinstalled the OS. I called HP again and was told to do the same lame troubleshooting steps. After 10 tries of doing the same thing, it's not going to fix it!!! I am so upset that HP has wasted my time and my money. This printer was not cheap, either!!! HP has totally lost a customer for life! I hope they know that. I wish I could give this horrid machine a 0, but unfortunately I cannot. Stay away!!!! Far far away.

Summary: Stay Away
Review: This unit is a replacement for another unit. Both units stopped working in the first 3 months of service. I will send the 6110 back to HP and figure it was an expensive lesson. The customer support is a joke. After a week of exchanging emails on how to fix the problem, I was told to contact a real person. The real person then took me thru the same procedures and it still won't work. Guess I will look for another brand to buy. This is my fourth HP product that has failed. Two HP 6110's and two Pavillion computers.

Summary: Will work very well for most people
Review: After reading reviews and doing some research I found this HP multifunction to be the best for the money. It is a printer, fax, copier and scanner. The many function buttons on the unit makes it easy and quick to use without a computer. You can use all the functions without a computer, except the scanner. The print quality is top-rate. I printed a brochure that contained graphics, pictures and text at medium quality on the HP and the same brochure on my Epson at high quality, and the HP was noticeable better. However, ink on the HP dries much slower than the Epson. So, be careful not to touch the printed page for several seconds until the ink dries. The installation was simple and easy. The scanner lamp can be set to turn off from 1 to 12 hours saving energy. One feature I really like is that you can use the HP with an answering machine connected. You simply set the number of rings on the answering machine to a lower number than the HP. Example: set the answer machine to 4 rings and the HP to 6 rings. When you receive an incoming call, the answering machine will come on and play your message. At the same time, the HP will monitor the call, listening for a fax tone. If there is a fax tone, then the HP will receive the incoming fax. If no fax tone is detected, then a voice message can be recorded by your answering machine. If you pick up the phone before the answering machine and hear a fax tone, then just press 1-2-3 on your phone. The HP will take over and receive the fax. You will never miss another voice call or fax again. Pros:
Replaces a fax, printer, copier, and scanner.
Can use an answering machine.
High quality printing.
Switch out the black ink for a Cyan-Magenta-Yellow cartridge (HP 58) and get amazing color photo prints. Cons:
Uses up ink quickly.

The HP 6110 does most everyday jobs very well and I am happy with it thus far.

Summary: Solid performance
Review: I purchased the HP Officejet 6110 AiO really to just try it out. I had been looking at a number of photo printers, scanners, etc. I was torn between seperate units and the space that would be required and the thought of an all-purpose machine. I was immediately pleased with the ease of use and the great quality of output. The scanner does a solid job and I have scanned and printed 5x7 photos that look very good (even without the optional photo ink cartridge that I haven't purchased as of yet). The small "footprint" of the 6110 really is what makes it a benefit to my home office. I have tested this machine extensively and I have had no problems with the document feeder as other reviews have indicated. The print speed is amazingly fast when in "draft" mode, and even in "best" mode the print speeds are very quick. The only complaint that I have to this point is that the hinges on the copier do not expand, which makes photo copying from books more difficult. Overall, I would give it a 5, but nothing is perfect.

Summary: HP's legacy of mediocrity continues
Review: I did not buy this printer. I got it for free. I bought a v40 at Sears, and Kudos to Sears for replacing that HP when it developed "carriage stall". I'm quoting HP technical support (I know a lot of people who had a similar problem at about the same time I did). I just needed something that did stand alone faxes for my wife's use, and now that I've experienced HP, I would definitely recommend products by Epson or Canon (which I also own products by). I work in graphics and computer sales, so hopefully my advice will carry some weight. Most disappointing is the fact that HP continues to crank out printers which CANNOT load a piece of paper straight. I'm not even going to go into how bad the software, scanner and technical support from HP are here; this isn't a novel. On the upside: it does print really crisp and clear.

Summary: Works great out of the box
Review: Printer is easy to set up. Worked perfectly out of the box. The control panel on the printer is easy to use and so is the software which you can use to control the printer as well. This seems like a great product for a small office such as mine. My previous printer was an older model HP laser printer; when I changed over to the inkjet I was concerned about text quality and print speed. However, I am impressed with the text quality and speed seems good. The print quality of scan and fax looks fine to me. I scanned a few of my photos after I set up the printer -- I thought the scans looked clear and pretty accurate. My only negative comment is that the feeder trays and cartridge holder clips feel like they are made of flimsy plastic -- but I guess that's par for the course these days.

Summary: Works fine, some follow up comments
Review: I originally reviewed this printer on December 7, 2003. It's now been about six months, so I thought that I would post some follow-up comments. The old workhorse HP r80xi that we had turned out to be too expensive to repair - there was a main board malfuntion that was going to cost over $250 to fix, so we junked it. This HP 6110 still works fine. Main drawbacks remain: 1. Noisier than the r80xi (which was already pretty loud)
2. Sometimes slow to print.
3. Ink cartridges are small and low capacity - need much more frequent replacement than r80xi.
4. Paper feeds are not as reliable - occasionally get two pieces or more of paper fed in together - what a mess!. Some additional things that I have figured out with the 6110 since the last review: 1. Windows XP works great with this printer! Office 2000 Scan function works great! HP printer and scan software that comes with 6110 work just fine also. No problems here. 2. I passed on getting a print server to link this printer to our three home computers at the time of the first review because the scan function would not work with the print server - only the print function would. Since then I have managed to link our three home computers to this printer through a USB semi-auto switch (which I got at trianglecables.com). With this device, each computer has a little software switch that you switch on at your computer to activate the USB line to the 6110. You can print AND scan through this USB switch! The only drawback of this system is that now you have a second set of lines to run beside your ethernet lines. Plus, a USB network works only as long as your computers are not too far apart (the power dissipation of USB lines are only spec'ed out to about 15 feet, although trianglecables.com sells a 20 ft cable that works fine - longer lines have to be joined together in 15-20 foot segments by powered USB hubs to renew the strength of the signal). 3. There is an option in the printer Preferences menu on Windows XP that allows you to print last page first. 4. By using re-manufactured cartridges and searching for the cheapest cartridge prices on the Internet, I've gotten the cost of the cartridges close to what they were with the r80xi. All in all, I would have never gotten this printer if the r80xi were still alive, but it looks like it's here to stay,
