Rating: Summary: Another quality Samsung product Review: I purchased one of these recently and it is everything I expected and more. The copier funtion works like a charm. The included software integrates with my eFax easily. The print quality is good. It is all so compact it take sthe place of my old Samsung 1410 Laser Printer and an old scanner.
Rating: Summary: Affordable Laser Printer, Copier & Scanner Review: I was in the market for a personal copier to support my real estate business. The requirements? Have to be small enough for me to carry around, inexpensive cost-per-page and affordable. This product fits the bill and it even adds printing and scanning capability as a bonus!
The print quality is surprisingly crisp for both text and image, off-the-glass copy is excellent and the scanner performs very well.
The scan function didn't work when I connect this printer through parallel port (bi-directional issue?), but all taken care off when I switch to USB. Also notice the paper tray door is kind of hard to open. I suggest using their provided software to get the most out of this printer!
Overall I highly recommend this for people whom looking to have a multifunction printer with small space and budget that print a lot of text or B/W document and doesn't need color capability.
Rating: Summary: Linux and MacOSX support, oh my! Review: Many of the big-name manufacturers of the all-in-one devices don't support MacOSX and/or Linux...Samsung covers all three bases, including scanning in Linux! I was pleasantly surprised and I think this unit is a wonderful value for the price.
Rating: Summary: no scanner software for Mac OSX Review: This is a great little printer. The scanner and copier are a nice bonus. Unfortunately, Samsung doesn't provide OSX-compatible scanner software, so I can't use that function. However, it makes excellent print-outs and copies. It is compact and reasonably speedy. I was going to buy an HP Laserjet 1012, but the Samsung was priced lower, had an additional mail-in rebate, and had the extra features. The HP is smaller in volume, but its footprint with the paper tray is about the same as the Samsung. Also, the toner cartridge for the Samsung prints 25% more pages and costs only $10-20 more than the HP cartridge. I picked this printer b/c it has the most bang-for-your-buck. And even though the scanner doesn't work for me, I am happy with my purchase.
