Rating: Summary: Straight to the point and gets the job done! Review: I am somewhat new to video capturing but I am very critical, I bought this product because of the price and for something to play around with while I waited for my Dazzle to arrive. Installation was easy for the hardware and software, although my first impression of the software NEO was "amateurish". When I got my Dazzle I was so frustrated, I have Movie star 5, pinnacle studios, Adobe premiere and more, but I was already spoiled by the "click and get to the point experience" and non error interruptions of AverMedia card and NEO software.
Now given to opportunity to compare with other products that give me such a hard time to start and end, I am now totally impressed with AverMedia with 5 stars. Out of all the "technical" software and hardware I have, I keep going back to Avermedia. I reccomend this product to anyone that just wants to turn your camcorder or VCR tapes into DVD, VCD, MPEG etc. It doesn't produce any less of quality on your DVD from the VCR tapes, what you see on your VCR tapes is what you get with a little more of fun editing additions. The sound capturing is excellent!! It has everything you need to fulfill your projects. Straight to the Point!! I am pleased!!!
Rating: Summary: You get what you pay for Review: I bought a AverMedia EZMaker DVD PCI card and was disappointed with the quality... the price was great, but video where the camera was in motion (panning left to right, for example) was very pixellated. The NeoDVD software that came with it was horrible; it dropped frames so all my videos looked like the scary part from "The Ring". Using Roxio's Easy DVD Creator software was better, but still pixelated.
Set up was fine and easy. Please see my review for the Pinnacle Systems Studio AV/DV 9 card, which costs twice as much but which produced perfect video.
Rating: Summary: No tech support Review: I bought this card based on these reviews. After installing the card and driver, the card could not recognize the driver. I have called and emailed tech support many times and get no response.
Rating: Summary: Simply a great product. Review: I have years of kids video's on VHS-C tapes. I wanted a product that I could convert these to DVD disks and this fit the bill. Installation was very easy. The software was very good and I did not need to read the manual to operate. I saw some negative comments about the software, but I have no complaints. I'm a technical person so I after a little experimentation I was able to control the DVD menu's to my precis liking and set the video quality and sound to the best possible settings. A not so technical person should be able to master this but will require some learning curve.
In the end it all comes down to quality. No sense spending your time doing something a getting poor results. The DVD's produced by this product are simply spectacular. The video and sound quality is superb. My entire collection is converted and we find ourselves watching the DVD movies (laughing and remembering) whereas we never watched them in the VHS-C format. Wonderful product and you can't beat the price.
Rating: Summary: A good capture card for family sharing Review: I purchased this product because it was the most moderately priced capture card I found. I did a lot of research and it offered all the qualities I was looking for. I use the card to capture analog video from a camcorder, then I edit and burn the videos to CD to send to family. The capture quality is a good resolution, certainly not "professional", but then I do not have DVD capabilities. I run XP, with 512Mb RAM, 40G HD, Intel Celeron. I capture in MPEG format, so I can't speak for the quality in MPEG2. The bundled software is good for capturing and then burning, but not for editing (I use windows movie maker). Installation was a snap, I was capturing in no time. some nuances in figuring out audio and file-size settings, but nothing serious. Overall very pleased with product, but bundled software earns a B-.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Product -- But you need a fast PC Review: I read these reviews after I bought this setup and so I opened the box with some trepidation. Wow, was I surprised.1. EXCELLENT capture quality from Hi8. 2. From breaking the shrinkwrap to capturing first video - 20 minutes. This stunned me. NOTHING (except maybe USB peripherals) gets up and running this fast. One caveat - I have a fairly powerful system (P4 1.6 OC'ed to 2.4Ghz and 512mb RAM with 360gb RAID 0 array). This card has no onboard MPEG2 encoder, and so you really need a pretty fast CPU and (especially) HDD subsytem to get good results. Nevertheless, highly recommended over the more bloated (and way over 50 bucks)capture solutions out there.
Rating: Summary: Actually Works Review: I was pretty sceptical that this would work; but it actually does. Easy to install and use. I capture the video from my Cannon 8mm with an s-video cable and the sound through the mic jack of the sound card. There's no loss in quality when you burn your tapes onto DVD.
Rating: Summary: Defective Product - Poor Hardware Review: PCI Hardware card of poor quality. Tried to get it to work on 2 different slots, but nothing. Would recommend that you don't waste your time.
Rating: Summary: Great Product, Great shipping Review: Received in 2 days!!! I read some of the reviews and disagree with them in that I think the soft ware is great, worked just as advertised. Remember that you only get the quality that you have in the old tape. I have copied 5 VHS tapes so far and find the video edit and everything else works great. Just plug in an old tape from the VCR or analog camcoder and play around with it. Hint...when you delete film strip in the work area it dosn't really delete the file itself. Be prepared to mow the grass or something else when you burn to disk as it burns at 2K...very slow..I think the quality of the capture will determine at what speed it writes not the speed of your disk. So start with some chep 2K disks. Hopes this helps... Ron
Rating: Summary: Works well Review: The card installed per instructions without problems. The software supplied works as well. (Pentium 4, 3 GHz) The card is not compatible with Pinacle Studio software though. The images were more grainy than the original video tape. For home use and the price this was a good buy.
