Rating: Summary: Good for home made video ! Review: $43 dollars for a video capture card. What else you can ask for? This product is very good for home made video. I emphasized again, the quality is for home made video, not for industrial usage. I am very happy with this product, so I gave 5 stars. Now is the time to review this product. If you are looking for something can convert your old VHS to DVD or VCD, this is the best product with the lowest price. I read so many reviews about the external and internal PCI video capture card. I decided to try the avermedia EZmake DVD PCI card. Because the price is low and reviews are good. If it didn't work, I almost got nothing to lose. Well, my decision was right! It is a big surprise that this card really works. It converted my wedding VHS to high resolution VCD with no problem. The vcd is better than other MTV vcd. The following are some important information that you guys need to know in order to make your VCD and DVD sucessfully with this card. 1. Make sure you have a at least Pentinum 4 class machine. I don't care it is P4 1.0 ghz or P4 3.2 ghz. Just P4 minimum. Otherwise your system will crash. If you have PIII class, forget about any conversion or video capture project. Upgrade your machine first. I can tell you none of the video capture product can work in the market in the PIII class cpu. 2. You need at least 512MB Ram. Beleive me, although it is not the minimum requirement but it will save you a lot of time and make the conversion more smooth. 3. Get Nero6.0 burn or 5.0 ****DO NOT USE THE BUNDLE SOFTWARE TO BURN YOUR CAPTURE VIDEO IN THE HARD DRIVE****. 4. USE THE BUNDLE NEODVD SOFTWARE TO CAPTURE VIDEO ONLY. Convert your VHS to either VCD or DVD with the bundle software then use the Nero5.0 or 6.0 to burn on disc from the hard drive. I made a perfect copy in 30 mins by using this method. I have P4 1.6G with 512MB Ram. The card cost me $ 43 with free shipping in Amazon, Video audio cable cost $ 8 total $ 51 to finish my project. Store charge me $ 60 to $ 80 to convert my wedding VHS to VCD. Now I spent only $ 51 and I have the card to do other project in the future. It worth ! I suggest any person have the same situation as me. Go ahead to buy this card. Good luck !
Rating: Summary: returned Review: After reading the reviews for this product, I bought it. I tried it for about 5 days and it is getting sent back. The video and audio does not match up. The quality of video is poor. What I try to use another program to capture the video, I cannot capture in high resolution and the audio and video still does not match up. I am going to keep looking for something else.
Rating: Summary: Worked Great Review: Although the product lacks in documentation, once I got past the install I had no problem getting it to work capturing various analog videos I have had sitting around. I have a DELL 2.X GHz pentium (just to give some context to the performance) and I captured at the maximum quality and I am very please with the result. I captured with the bundled software (Analog 8mm via composite port) but I created the DVD with the software I had bundled with the HP DVD so I cannot comment on that aspect of the product. The quality of the image was great and the sound was in sync with the picture ( I mention this as some seem to have an issue with some capture cards and sound syncronization). If you have a system like mine, this product is an inexpensive way of transferring those old Analog tapes to dvd.. copies of tapes makes a great christmas gift for relatives.
Rating: Summary: Easy and low cost way to transfer video Review: Amazon had the best delivered price and I got it fast! This small PCI card is very easy to install including the software. The included software, when transfering, does not show smooth video (and it SAYS that right on the screen - it is not a problem) but the resulting conversion comes out fine. However, this card also works with other software, such as Pinnacle Studio 8, which often comes with DVD burners for free. That is what I use as it is a better software product. This card works just fine and a huge bargain. If you have VHS tapes to convert this is the ticket. Now if you plan to buy a DVD burner, consider one that comes with software such as I mentioned and you get even a better deal.
Rating: Summary: Great Performer for the Money Review: Based on your excellent reviews I bought one, despite having a only 3 year old PentiumIII-1GHz with 384MB memory. I wasn't expecting much, but I'm able to tape AVIs at 720x480 with no compression and very few dropped frames (less than 1%). After reading the negative impressions of the group, I never even installed NeoDVD software. I'm still learning how best to do video capture. Currently I run the captured files through VirtualDub freeware to synch sound and video and burn them to VCD with Nero6. I'd like to try captures with VirtualDub too. Thanks All. Saved me tons of money. I was gonna buy a $300 TV tuner video card I didn't need. This little guy does everything I need for less than one-sixth the price.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Review: Bottomline: Excellent product for the price. Installation was very easy. It took only 10 minutes. Captured my first video from Sony camcorder effortless. Created VCD and it came out fine. Created VCD from one of my video cassette and that was great too. I actually installed the MPEG2/SVCD plug-in and created SVCD with very good quality. The only thing with SVCD creation is that it takes 10 minutes to encode 1 minute of the video. Definitely will recommend this product to others.

Rating: Summary: GREAT card, POOR software Review: Card was easy to install. It was up and running in no time just as promised by the manufacturer (FIVE STARTS). The first two VCD projects created with the MedioStream software (included with the card) did not go well (TWO STARS). The information (projects) recorded on the disks could not be read by either my computer or my DVD player. Surprisingly enough, same VCD & SVCD projects created on Roxio' Easy CD & DVD Creator 6 went very well (unlike with the MedioStream software, the SVCD option is included with the Easy CD & DVD Creator 6. Both my computer and my DVD player had no problem reading the information recorded on the disks created by using Roxio. I would highly recommend the card (hardware), however would recommend considering the option of utilizing different/better software then the one provided by AverMedia.
Rating: Summary: A barely working product from not reputable manufacture Review: Don't buy this!!!!! This is a barely working product. The tech support is useless. The video capture quality is very low. You would not want to have video like this. The captured frames are also broken every now and then.
Rating: Summary: Don¡¯t expect you can make a good quality DVD with this cheap Review: Easy operation, but you may not satisfy the VCD you made. I bought this card few weeks ago. The installation is simple. The neo DVD software is also very good to run(CPU > 1 GHz is required). I tried to capture the video from my camcorder. It works, but the resolution is not good as expected (DVD quality, up to 720 x 480 on the package box). As a cheap video capture card, you can easily make DVD/VCD from your video sources, but don¡¯t think you would make them with good quality.
