Rating: Summary: Bad choice Review: Although this monitor has a good picture and is priced fairly, you should think twice about purchasing a Viewsonic. Their customer service is atrocious and this is important because it will be needed if your experience is like mine: Your monitor turns itself off and degausses itself. you'll be on hold 45 minutes and pay $50 to have another shipped to you, which arrives and is "refurbished". Your "refurbished" monitor will stop waking up from sleep mode after a month or so. You'll wish you'd spent the extra $20 and got that Sony. This monitor is the Fiat of displays. You should buy two, as you'll be needing a backup.
Rating: Summary: Professional Grade Review: As a web designer, I rely on vivid images and clarity with a monitor. The ViewSonic PF790 (Professional Series) has been a workhorse for me both at work and at home. My monitor at work is a '99 model and I have yet to experience any problems with it. I appreciate the flatness of the screen and coating used as I never experience glares. I cannot use glare guards due to the nature of my work nor is it necessary. The one I have at home is a 2002 model and I've noticed a few changes with more ways to tweak the viewable screen with more functionality. I selected it over the Sony after viewing various monitors at a local shop. I see no reason to purchase a Sony when the ViewSonic gives me the same quality for a lower price. The only thing I don't like about the 'trinitron' technology is that you'll notice two very thin lines near the top quarter and another on the bottom quarter of the screen horizontally. From what I've been told, they are fine wires that ensures the virtual flatness or something to the effect. After seeing it on all virtually flat screens of other monitors, I knew it was the technology, not the manufacturer. However, the annoyance is a minor detail that most users might not likely ever notice. I recommend this product and particular model if you want a nice quality flat monitor in the 19" range. I've not been sorry thus far!
Rating: Summary: Always a viewing pleasure. Review: I have always been impressed with Viewsonic monitors because of the quality and secondly the price. This product is no different; the crisp, clear colors on this 19" are great for gaming and other graphics intensive programs because of the 0.25 dot pitch and high refresh rates. I also do a lot of CAD, and the clarity of the PF790 comes to my eyes' rescue. Note that this is a professional monitor and though the price seems high for some other 19" monitors, it is really not for the features you get. When comparing other flat screen monitors with similar features, none had a comparable price for the same specs. PerfectFlat technology is great for that flat screen view in order to eliminate glare and image distortion. Viewsonic support also gets a high rating from me. I am completely satisfied and will spend hours staring at my new purchase with pleasure.
Rating: Summary: This monitor is great! Review: I have never used such an excellent monitor for such a great price. I actually own three of these, because the display's colors are excellent, and when the light is on it, there is no glare! No glare, folks. It is a flat screen with no glare, so if sun is on it, you will still be able to see your monitor and will still be able to work on your computer. It's funny that the only bad reviews for this monitor come from three people that recommend Sony over Viewsonic for some reason. Hehehehe crazy people. ViewSonic is THEE company for monitors. I hope Viewsonic never discontinues this monitor, as I think it is their best one, for the price.
Rating: Summary: Maybe the recent products are lower in quality? Review: I have noticed some negative reviews on this monitor and they all seems to have been posted recently. Sometimes these negative reviews are written by one person who may have grudges against the company/product. I bought my PF790 over a year ago and it is a GREAT monitor. www.CNET.com rated it as one of their best performers. MAYBE their recent product offerings haven't been has good as earlier ones. But I know there is nothing wrong with the engineering aspect of this monitor as it looks wonderful.
Rating: Summary: Please spend more money for SONY Review: I recommend this monitor to 2 friends before. But three months after I bought it, the left bottom corner lost the blue color. When set refresh rate higher than 60Hz. It starts to blinking for 3 seconds every half an hour. Anyway, I will buy SONY next time.
Rating: Summary: This monitor is great! Review: I say that because I've owned a ViewSonic monitor before, and they're just great. I bought this specific model because ViewSonic has always been well know for putting out top-quality monitors with affordable prices. I bought the PF790 six months ago and I haven't had a single problem since. CAD and 3D designers on a budget, like myself, should look to this model. This 19" monitor is great on the eyes for it's non-reflective/non-glare and the screen is perfectly flat. The colors are vivid, and there's a number of controls to adjust is viewability. I can run this monitor at a high resolution of 1600 x 1200 with a low refresh of 60 Hertz without any problems. Although for some odd reason my monitor will let me go even higher at 1920 x 1200 pixels, although that may have something to do with the graphics card I'm using. The only thing I'm not too crazy about is that it weighs about 55lbs. and takes up a good amount of deskspace. I feel bad for the negative reviewers, experience with faulty equipment can sour one's perception of a credible manufacturer. All I can say is do some heavy research and make sure that whatever devices you plan to hook up your computer are compatible with one another.

Rating: Summary: Pinch me, I'm in heaven. Review: My father and I usually do our PC purchases and upgrades around the same time. And often we end up getting the same things. ....Once again, a couple years later, I'm itching for a new monitor. I didn't want to spend a fortune and I didn't want junk. ....So I did some research and found this beauty. This is a great monitor. It's a superior product.... As far as I'm concerned, this monitor is perfection. My eyes don't pick up any bizarre artifacts or defects on the screen after months of staring at it. Buy one of these and you'll be very pleased.
