Summary: maybe it's just me, but...
Review: my dad was a little hesitant about buying the nomad because the reviews were very mixed. when it arrived, for the first hour or so, it worked great. i was very content with it, until i wanted to open the back cover. i found it extremely difficult and finally my dad had to pry it open with a knife. i discovered that with the flash memory card out of the player, the back opened fine. when you have the memory card in the player, it's nearly impossible to open. about a week later, i tried to turn it on and nothing happened. there is nothing in the instructions manual to deal with this. i know it was not a battery problem because the batteries were fresh. many people have had problems, but many people have also had good experiences with this product. i will be exchanging this for one of the rios made by sonic blue.

Review: My experience with the NOMAD II was great. The set-up and software install went exactly by the book, and it worked perfectly the first time. A real nifty device for music lovers and gadget lovers alike- I'd recommend the Nomad II.

Review: PROS: 1)First of all, the Nomad is small and lightweight, about the size of a deck of cards. 2)Next is the 64 MB of memory, which is expandable with Smartmedia Cards. 3)The FM tuner is always handy whenever my MP3s get boring. 4)It only needs one AA battery. 5)My friends and I found the voice recorder hilarious.
CONS: 1)Download speed from the computer to the player is somewhat slow. 2) The LCD tends to get a little bit of debris caught underneath it; not enough to totally block the view of the screen, but it is annoying. 3) Not enough volume to hear while mowing the lawn or something like that.
OVERALL: Definitely worth it. I've had the Nomad II for six months, and it's never lost its touch. The CONS I listed are nothing totally disrupting. If you're considering an MP3 player, this is an awesome one to go with.

Summary: its a pretty good system
Review: Reviewer: A customer from sacramento, Cali USA I boughtr mine last year. The first thing to go was the headphones the wire inside breaks easily so be careful. the headphones will stop working from normal use then there is the whole thing of memory. 64 mb might sound like quite a bit but its never enough.you might get and hour of cd quality music. thats less than a cd. If your gonna spend this kind of money maybe you should look at the nomad jukebox. It has more memory than I would ever use but for 100 dollars more its worth it. not that the nomad II is bad I really like the radio feature except it having a weak antenna. The microphone on the recorder is really bad too but if these features are important go with it. For the money I wish I had gotten the Jukebox but I was in a hurry. choose wisely. Its overall a pretty good player for the money with a few flaws. hope this helps.

Review: So you get to buy the best MP3 player around but with a funky blue (or pearl) color! Real Nice. The Nomad II by Creative Labs is the best MP3 player around, period. There are others that do almost the same job, but none of them provide the great package you get with the Nomad. You see, you get the best transfer option available, the USB cable which can transfer a song in 10 seconds. I don't think the USB is a problem, almost every new computer comes with at least one port, and in case you don't have one you can buy one at a fairly low price and start using it. With the Nomad II you also get 64 MB of storage capacity. It's almost one CD's worth of music at 128kbps. And as the manufacturers say, it's near CD quality. I have yet to find the "flaw" with MP3 recording. You could also record in WMA format, which would make your NOMAD II hold around 2 hours of music. For those of you who are unsure about an MP3 player, and prefer MiniDisc: the only positive thing I see from MD is the capacity of having multiple discs, but if you have some money, you can do the same with Nomad, just get some extra memory cards, and you're set. The option of expanding the Nomad is also a nice feature. In the future you can buy a bigger memory card, and get more music into your player, but isn't 1 hour a decent amount? The nifty, extra features you get with the Nomad is what sets it apart from most players of it's kind. You get an FM tuner (which you can program to remember 32 stations!) a voice recording (for those of you who don't want to forget appointments) and the earphones with remote control! You might say that the earphones are awful, but they have a great sound quality. You can always buy or use your smaller earbuds if it's a problem... If you find no use for some of these features, and you only want it "rough" (you only want a player for listening to MP3s) then get a Rio 500, it's not as expensive as others, and you get your 64 MB of internal (!) memory and an extra space for another memory card. You can also get it with special colored casings (purple and teal). But I'm not here to review the Rio, I'm here to talk about the Nomad II. The size and weight of this player are impressive! Just pick up your computer mouse, imagine it has no cord, and that's about it. (I'm talking about a standard mouse, not one of those huge ones!) And the look and feel are just, awesome. You can hide it in a pocket, just like a small cellular phone and remember, it'll never skip a beat! The only thing that has yet to convince me of the Nomad, is it's price, not that its expensive (because most similar player cost around the same), but I think is a considerable amount of money... But I'd say it's worth it! If the Nomad could make dinner, I'd probably marry it!

Summary: Stay away from this Company products, no customer support.
Review: Stay away from this Company products, no support no real solution to customer when you need it. After 6 months of playing their NOMAD II device suddenly stopped working. Problem? The products Software simply will not transfer any song file to its device (Can't talk to the device PERIOD). After nine months of sending support enquiries back and forth trying all of their excruciatingly time-consuming steps, support concluded the NOMAD II device itself is bad (DUH!)and asked for repair charges so they can repair it. I sent the item for repair with their fees, and a month later it came back exactly as it was before. It appears their RMA/Repair department made no changes what so ever to fix the problem. Their note says "This device may have been repaired". I spent another crazy weekend trying to Unload an reload all of their Softwares and Firmare following all their web support instructions and manuals to reset the device and reload all in vain. (How can a device work if the USB connection or firmware has a communication problem in itself?).
Being a EE pro myself, my conclusion- there is apparently a bug/flaw in Creative Play Center Software which may require fix in either in the PlayCenter or in their device firmware for NOMAD II but eitherway the suport won't relay that to engineering nor they will fix it nor they will replace the product. The NOMAD II is in trash now.
A complete waste of time for the past nine months trying to figure out a hardware/USB connection problem with their Creative Software and Firmare. The device can format which means it can delete all songs that means USB connection is working but the Playcenter software (Any version from v1.x to the recent one v.3.52.x, simply can't communicate with the device any longer. Do yourself a favor and save your time and money.

Summary: the best mp3 player on the market
Review: the Nomad 2 mp3 player (blue) is a great player. It is not different from the first Nomad 2 player with the FM radio and the voice recording. But the blue casing might look better to some than others. I really liked the first one but the color was easy to get dirty and became very noticble. But with the blue one it is harder to tell if it is dirty or not. With the blue version every new fetaure that was avalible for download on nomadworld.com comes with the player. Another good thing is that on amazon.com you save 80.00 bucks than if you bought it online from creative or from a store. I really like the new player and hope they come out with new colors soon.
