Summary: great value, poor reliability
Review: On the surface, this looks like a great player at a great price---and it is. However, soon after I bought mine the flash card started causing me problems. Within a few days the flash card failed to work anymore, thus leaving me with only 32MB to work with. When I called Creative Labs they didn't seem to care at all about my difficulties, and actually tried to blame Amazon for the problem. To the contrary Amazon helped me greatly and I ended up exchanging the Nomad for a Rio player, which I'm very happy with. Also, if you plan on using your player while exercising/working out, be forewarned that this product DOES NOT have a belt clip, thus making it almost impossible to use while exercising. Of course, Creative labs does offer a leather carrying case/belt clip for $30---a rip off if you ask me. Overall, I would stay away from this product. If you do choose to buy it, remember to add $30, the cost of a belt clip, to the total price. The player is no good without it. I mainly give this product such a poor rating becuase of the terrible customer service I recieved from Creative Labs. However, I thank Amazon for helping to remedy the situation.

Summary: A few drawbacks
Review: Overall I thought this is a great player. I'll only list a few potential drawbacks since the good points are probably already mentioned elsewhere:1) Does not work with NT or Windows 2000. At least, I couldn't get the software to work. 2) The cradle is nice if you are only using the Nomad with 1 primary computer. If you like the flexibility of multiple computers (e.g. one at work, one at home), then carrying the cradle around in order to download music is annoying. 3) You have to recharge using the cradle - which in most cases is a decent idea. However, if you want to bring the Nomad on a trip you will also have to lug the cradle with you in order to recharge, rather than simply bringing a extra battery or two.

Review: Overall this product fell below my expectations. The FM tuner is difficult to use and program. It also has a habit of losing your pre-sets. The volume output of the unit is not adequate. The software is easy to install and is intuitive in its use.

Summary: Corrupted tracks, first day
Review: Purchased the Nomad player yesterday, it includes a single removable 32mb disk, 32 mb on board, and I purchased an additional card... loaded it up with a handful of my favorite mp3's... Last 2 songs in players memory come out fuzzy and distorted.. first song on the first of the two smartmedia disks unplayable, I tried their customer support half an hour on a toll call before I gave up..curiously however when I tried their 1-800 # 'customer assistance' line which "cannot provide any technical support" I had less than a 30 second wait to be told to keep trying the toll #... Great idea, when it works it has decent sound, and I love the combination of FM tuner , and voice recording. However, returning the one I bought and looking for another option for a player as the bevy of problems this one has already given me in 24 hours makes it a definite no go.

Summary: nomad is pretty good
Review: The coolest thing about the Nomad is the cradle and titanium color. I have two MP3 players, the Nomad and the eGo (from i2Go). I think the Nomad is great for working out and running. It is light weight and handles 64 MB of memory. I have the eGo for more memory with the Micro Drive. My interface is so-so, but lacks being intuitive. Hovwever, no MP3 player has made the interface truly simple.

Summary: Great Gadget that does not work under WinNT
Review: The Creative Nomad looks good and feels good. The sleek design, 2x32 MB memory and the FM tuner - the added useful feature - made me go for it. Back home, where I run Windows 95, I'll be able to regularly refresh the Nomad with all of the wonderful music I legally ripped from my own CD's. While travelling, I am confined to a laptop running on NT. Hence, FM tuning is all I get on the Nomad until I get home (I do not really like listening to my own voice). It's not that Creative led me on to believe it worked under NT, but, well, Winamp and all the other run-of-the-mill MP3 players work just fine with NT. As I can rip my favourite songs from my CD's, I just thought I could make my Nomad work. This begs the question whether I should have bought the Rio and have had the benefit of Elena's RioShell....? But that is no credit to Rio. Anybody out there developed a Shell that makes the Nomad work under WinNT?

Review: ThE GoOd- This is a wonderful product. It comes with 32mb on board and32 off, thats 64mb. . . Thats about the best MB you can get forthat price you can get. It hase great sound quailty and comes with a great voice recording, and fm radio which i think are the best extra features you can get.Amazon.com has been wrongly saying it is covered in plastic. There completely wrong.I have been told that it is the smallest Mp3 player on the market. It may be buts it no reason to worried about it. Amazon.com is one of the best prices for this product. If u wanna compare prices go to Cnet.com. The instaltion program is very good and can be used with Napster or any other Mp3 files you can get. For a 4:00 minute song it only takes about 45 seconds for the song to transfer. ThE BAd-once the Mp3 wpould not let me play one of the songs for some reason so i had to delete the song.Dont get worried about you can just put the song back on later. The docking port station is kind of a drag but it may make the transfer from your computer to the player faster. ALL IN ALL I LOVE THIS PLAYER, IT ROCKS!

Summary: Decent, but needs improvement
Review: The Radio reception is decent but not consistent since it uses the headphone or earphone wire as the antenna, so you have to be somewhat still to get a consistent reception. I like the Rio's Random feature better as it does seem random and can remember the order so it doesn't repeat songs. This is not true with the Nomad. One thing I don't like about the player is that the shuffle feature isn't exactly random and repeats the same patterns. It also always starts on the first song after being Powered down, which make you get tired of the first few songs quickly. The song search buttons don't allow you to go through the random order like the Rio(so that you could skip the songs you don't want to hear), The Nomad instead goes through the songs in order on all settings(shuffle or not). Another problem is that sometimes the songs get corrupted and it hangs and shuts off. The manual suggests reformatting the flashcards, which does solve the problem, but I never had to do that with the Rio. Everything else about it is fairly decent. The connection is parallel so don't expect it to be lightening quick. The Interface is decent, esp. with the new upgrades and patches that allow you to download into the player straight from Win. Explorer or Winamp. Overall it is slightly better than the Rio players with its radio, voice recording features, rechargable batteries, and sturdier design(my rio 300 player began to fall apart after about half a year of use), but it could improve a lot with the features offered on the Rio players.

Summary: poor manager, can't work under windows 2000
Review: the software is poor, it don't support windows 2000. I think this is a big fault of this player. who know if there is some other software can take the place of the one came with the player?
