Summary: good and bad
Review: The player is cool, small and sounds great. We like the fact that it works with both Mac OS and Windows.

The only problem is that so far it skips when I run. This doesn't make sense since there are no moving parts? Right?!? When I stopped and listened to the same songs over they did not skip.

The other problem is that the back case doesn't come off easily when the battery and smart card are in place. I fear that trying to pry off the case a few more times could damage the player. I ended up putting quite a bit of pressure on the player to get the back off which cannot be good for it.

Final word, if it continues to skip when running I'll have to return it.

Summary: Great player- with device avail for MAC users!
Review: I just got the Nomad II MP3 player thinking I could use my COMPAQ at work to interface with it. Unfortunately, we run Windows NT 4.0 not Windows 98 or 2K. Thankfully, Nomad has downloadable drivers available on its website enabling it to work with MAC software. Since I am a MAC fan at heart, this was great news! Regarding the player, I think it's fantastic with amazing sound quality. The radio doesnt work as well as I would have thought, but all in all, I am pretty content.

Summary: Customer Service
Review: Good product - Bad service: The headphones the Nomad II comes with are actually two pieces, one being a headphone unit and one being a remote-type unit that attaches directly to the player. The headphones by themselves are not long enough to be usable without the remote unit. After 95 days (not kidding) the remote unit broke and Creative Labs refused to exchange my broken unit for a new one because they only offer a 90-day warranty. They have a good product at a good price and could have had a lifelong customer. Now, I would never buy from Creative again and would suggest taking your business elsewhere if customer service is something you consider important.

Summary: Only 64 megs?!?
Review: I tell you, with the coming out of products like the Creative Nomad Jukebox (with 6 GB of storage space for mp3), I can't see what good these little things are. This sells for [price], the Nomad Jukebox sells for maybe twice that. Considering the amount of storage you're getting, it's a great deal. Just not for these little puny 64 meg devices.

Summary: Would be 5 stars if it worked.
Review: My Nomad II worked for a total of 1 hour, then the screen gave out and the interface with my PC died.

However, that 1 hour was great, clear powerful sound...light as hell...easy to use. I'm sending it back for another in hopes this was a fluke, but right now i'm too mad to give it anything more than a shooting star.

Summary: Amazing
Review: I'll admit it, I'm a techno-junkie. I have to have all of the new-fangled gadgets that are out there. Call it compulsion. I bought the Creative Nomad II for the sole purpose of having one, but after I received the product, I came away with a product I can't help but be pleased with.

For such a small device, the sound on this gadget is incredible. I can't believe I'm listening to an MP3 from such a small device. Let's forget that the SmartMedia card I have holds 64 Megabytes (a feat on such a small card is just unimaginable to me). You can control the treble and bass (along with 4 presets Rock, Pop, Classical, and Jazz). Best of all, the skips are very rare. Unlike what most people have said here, I've had one or two. Nothing major, but a few for some reason. The battery was full, if you're keeping score at home.

I love the voice recorder. This innovation automatically makes the Nomad II a more useful tool outside of listening to music. With the capability to record 4 hours worth of sound bytes (with a 64 MB card), you could record a 3-hour lecture, transfer it to your computer, and keep an archive of them, without worrying about having enough tapes or missing something in your notes.

I only gave the product four stars for a variety of reasons. Even though I marvel at the size of the SmartMedia card in relation to the memory on it, I'm always afraid I'm going to snap it in half when I place it in the Nomad II. If you're careful, you'll be fine. I'm afraid that if I break it, I might have to shell out another ($) or so to replace it. I also found the navigation to be a bit hairy in some instances. Then again, I have a big thumb, so take that comment with a grain of salt. I also did not lkiek the fact trhat I had to buy a separate docking cradle, although Amazon does have, in my research, the best price for it.

Overall, this is a great product. If you want your MP3 player to do more than play music, get this item now!

Summary: UHH .. just look
Review: Ok well I don't really know about mP3 players but I don't like how it shuts down if your idle for 1-10 mins. Like if your listening to it and have in your pocket or something it will shut off so you have to get it out and turn it back on and all that crap. Also If you want to change something on the settings the radio/mp3s turn off if your listening to them. The flash card is also hard to take out with the battery in. One more thing -- the headphone look like they are for a little kid! they are really small even though they go on the back of your head. it's kinda weird, I had to use some old ones. But other than those ... 4 things it's great. I mean the radio and voice recorder make up for some the bad stuff. I mean it's great! You can record up to 4 hours! that's cool! Also it was very easy to use/setup. But this is my only mp3 player and first so i dont really know that much about them so .. yeah! k bye!

Summary: Nomad II ..good deal
Review: I bought this player so that i could use it at the gym. I have had nothing but wonderful things to say about it. The user interface is easy to use and the remote control can clip onto your shirt so that you dont have to fumble for the controls on the player. The software they give you allows you to recompress already owed MP3s so that you can fit more mp3s on the player. I have been so busy listening to the player, i have not yet used the recorder or the fm tuner. The lightweight player is perfect to use on the treadmill.

I did find putting in the memory was a bit clunky but otherwise I have had no problems at all. I would recommend this player.

Summary: Some shortcomings, but good for active people
Review: This is my first portable digital system, and at first I had doubts. I had a problem with the memory card (would only play half the songs on it). Returned it but only the Nomad II MG was available at the time so I decided to give it a try.

MG was nice, but no beltclip, no easy access to the buttons through the carrying case, and an LCD screen that you needed a magnifying glass to see, the built in 64 MB of RAM was the only selling point. Couldn't wait to return this & get another Nomad II.

The Nomad II is great if you're on the go. The belclip isn't the best, but it gets the job done, and the headphones are great (especially the wired remote). If they could only make the battery cover a little easier to remove (I'm convinced that my difficulty removing the battery cover is what caused the flash card to get damaged).

Summary: I've had this for a couple of months & it's not great
Review: The electronics on this are OK. The user interface, to put it mildly, stinks. The software that comes bundled with it is buggy and will sabotage any and all other audio programs on your computer; these problems are difficult to get rid of. Other players will upload files to your computer; this one won't, which I didn't know when I bought it. Though the appeal is that it's shockresistant, the beltclip that comes with it is short and slick, so that if you try to run with it, it will fall off every time. The buttons are small, and finicky -- you WILL enter the wrong thing about every third time.

The sound is great, but it's not worth the hassle. I find myself going back to my ... Phillips CD player more and more often. I can't recommend this product, as I feel gypped.
