Summary: Good Bang For your Buck
Review: I bought the Nomad II when it was still a little cheaper (249$~), even at that point I was unsure wether it would be worth it. Now 3 months down the line I must say that it certainly was a good buy. The play back is awesome, the headphones are certainly top quality.I run almost every day with it and it fits perfectly onto my waist band and it has not fallen off till now.The radio is also pretty good(in fact it is better than the one that I have in my car).The software that comes with it is pretty good , it copies the files over pretty fast.You can also preset your radio stations using the software which is an added benefit. On the whole, an intutive, compact , stylish product that you will fell hip in.

Summary: Quality MP3 Player
Review: This is an awesome product in my opinion. I own both the Nomad 1 and the Nomad 2, and they are both really good. The Nomad 2 has lots of functions such as the radio, voice recorder (which i use a lot) and lots of other functions, all i have to say is that this is another quality product from creative labs! well done! :)

Summary: Except for a few glitches, this is a great product
Review: The quality of sound and thoughtfulness in making this product is remarkable. It has a lot of features, including lock feature, remote control, voice recording, fm radio, and a usb cable. There however a few glitches, which in my opinion makes the Nomad less than perfect and not quite as close to the level of a Sony product. First, the headphones are not too comfortable. The band tends to hit your ears. Second, taking out the battery cover requires a lot of effort which, up to this point, I have not figured yet a reliable way of doing it. And there is no ac battery output unless you get a docking station. Thus, except for those few noticeable glitches this is a great product

Summary: Please don't buy this defective wonder
Review: I got my Nomad II today and immediately downloaded some favorite MP3s, as well as 'samples' included in the box. ALL files were sampled at 128kps/44.1 KhZ. ALL files also play back with compression artifacts (flanging): pops, whistles, cracks, and 'skips'. The firmware CODEC is defective, as these files play fine on my PC with software CODECs. I tried upgrading the firmware to the latest version, but keep getting an error. The only way to get tech support from Creative is to call a toll number. Products should work 'out of the box' without user intervention. This one doesn't. I plan on returning it tomorrow. I read another review that recommended buying a minidisc player for about $100 USD less. Sounds like a great idea.

Summary: The Next Step Towards The Future
Review: The NOMAD II is truly one of the best mp3 players ever made.Its has a FM tuner with 32 presets! that is unbeliveable, it also has the time, voice recorder, backlit, usb port cable, u can enter info bout yourself also! Its look very very cool, thats what caught my eye when i first saw it, The cool future-like backphones and the great glammer of the NOMAD II. and it also has a very resonable price here on Amazon.com, i have been searching the web for atleast 2 weeks now and the lowest price i found for a 64 MB player this cool was here. trust me you will not find a price this low for a NOMAD II 64MB, the retail price is over 300$ and at any other online shops it is over 280$ so buy this while you can, becuz you will never come across a greater deal than this...

Summary: Pretty good but could be better.
Review: This was my first MP3 player and I am glad that I bought this particular one. I heard that the radio is not that good and I agree, it could be much better. But then I never use the radio so I dont care. But one very good feature is the attached remote. It is such a great feature. You can put the player in your pocket and just use the small remote to control everything. That probably puts it above every other player out there. Another thing great about this is that it can play formats other than mp3. The new WMA format saves much more space and the sound is just the same. Also I know that the new Nomad MG is coming out soon but it will be twice as much as this one and not very much better. So if you want to buy a good mp3 player and can't wait another year or two when the prices will be much lower, buy this one. I love it.

Summary: Excellent playback, but file transfers limited
Review: I found the Nomad II to be perfect the combination walkman. CDsound quality plus the FM tuner make it a great choice for listening on the go. However, it is not noted that you are limited in the area of downloading music files from the player to your computer. The voice files can be transferred from player to computer, but music files can only be transferred from computer to player and not vice-versa. This was mentioned in the creative labs documentation that I received in the original package, but not listed on the creative website or product description. Want to get around the limitation? I suggest purchasing a photoreader. You can then take out the smartmedia card, place it in the photoreader and handle file transfers from photoreader to computer. It is an extra expense...but definitely worth it if you are swapping music files.

Review: Like most, I approached the idea of purchasing a portable Mp3 player with caution. I already own a top of the line portable CD player with the best anti-shock system (to avoid skipping) and the idea of having to deal with computer hardware was a bit intimidating. However, once I began tinkering around with Mp3 files on the Internet I found that the process is intuitive and the sound reproduction is almost too good to be true. And it may be. As I write this review Napster, the most popular of the Mp3 download sites, has been shut down by a preliminary injunction issued by a California Court for possible copyright violations and piracy. Trust me, the main reason to buy one of these little gems is for downloading free music from sites like Napster, Scour Exchange and CuteMX. Ripping your own CD (using software to transfer music from your own audio CD into an Mp3) is nice because you can create CD quality audio files in a truly portable and skip free unit, but the real draw to buying an Mp3 player is the ability to get free music from the Internet. If you ever just get an itch to hear an old song or preview a song before you go out and buy the entire CD it is a phenomenal tool! However, the music industry has declared war on this type of file swapping despite the fact that over 80% of university students (by far the largest group of Mp3 downloaders) said that the ability to download music would not deter them from purchasing the studio recording. Beware - the legal watchdogs are really on top of this new technology and the possibility of long, ongoing lawsuits to resolve issues regarding its possible regulation. However, it seems ironic to me that lawmakers have done little or nothing to control unfettered access to porn on the Internet but have reacted with such alacrity to the issue of access to copyrighted music. Ah, the power of the almighty dollar. So, after that introduction what do I think of this product? I think it is just about the coolest piece of audio equipment that I have ever bought. Each time I use it to record my own CDs or to download Mp3 files from the Internet I truly feel like I am touching the future. Someday, all media - both music and film -will be both created and obtained like this. The music industry sees it and is scared to death that dollars might be slipping through their fingers. Thus, many have jumped on the wagon with Mp3 players but the Nomad II is by far the best of the pack right now. The sound quality is fantastic, the software is simple and the USB connection makes it a snap to download music to the player. A registered version of Music Match to rip and download is also a nice touch, along with the suprisingly nice headphones with remote. This is just a fantastic product. Hands down the best on the market. Remember that this is still new technology and the legal issues surrounding audio downloads are swirling like an approaching hurricane. However, it is in the music industry's best interest to make a workable compromise with companies like Napster. The cat is most defintely out of the bag and for every Napster-like company that they try to shut down (recall Napster's injunction is only preliminary) there will be 10 more just like it to take its place. Recall that Napster was not started by some big company or by a group of technology experts, but by a teenager who learned how to program web pages from books like "The Internet for Dummies." IN the end, this medium is here to stay and is only going to get better and more reliable. So, if you want to be on the cutting edge of the audio scene, or just like to workout, dance or jog with a CD quality music machine that will NEVER skip, then pick up one of these babies. There is little better.
