Review: i am the worst customer a company could ask for, im picky, distrustful, and and overly critical. this has made the mark for me. i have been reviewing mp3 players for about a month and finally chose this one from 100's of reviews. it is simple to setup , use, and understand. i love it, and thats saying alot. for the money you cant go wrong.

Review: The size and the sound output are absolutely outstanding. The only gripe that I may have is that it only holds about an hour's worth of songs, therefore an upgrade is needed. However this is perfect to fit in your purse for plane trips or working out. Fantastic bargain too.

Summary: The rare gem: personal audio designed for heavy duty use
Review: O.K., coming from someone who first started using portable personal audio back in 1983 with an original Sony Walkman and has learned from all those years: if there is one - just one thing -- that one should REALLY want from a portable audio electronic item, it's DURABILITY. Yes, neat features are nice, and everyone wants something that looks sexy, but none of that means anything if the personal audio item isn't built to stand up to the inevitable day to day wear a portable gets. And I can state that the majority of the portable tape, radio and digital audio items out there aren't built to that standard. Given that, after using the Intel Personal Audio Player 3000 for over three months now (for over two hours a day while train commuting), I can state this thing is the best designed, toughest portable audio device I have EVER seen. The case is made of a rubbery vinyl that stands up to wear, and the buttons (usually the first thing to go on portables) are clearly heavy duty items that aren't going to fall apart. So, great, it's built well, but what about sound? In a word, fantastic. Plenty of amplifier power to drive even difficult headphones. After adding 64MB of additional memory, this machine can easily hold over 2 hours of high quality MP3 audio (ergo, music sampled at 128+ rates). The drivers installed easily on my PC, and the included MusicMatch software is the most user-friendly PC audio tool I have ever seen. Granted, the 3000 doesn't have lots of additional tweaky bells and whistles (ergo, FM tuners, ability to output audio files back to the PC), but my gut is those aren't particularly important features to the average user. Bottom line: this animal will still be around (and showing its true value) years from now, long after many competing models have worn out and gone to the dustbin.

Review: This is a Super mp3 player I love it, is perfect for everithing, its small, light, easy to use, the only thing that miss is backlight lcd blue screen or something like that, cause on night its hard to read the screen besides that Its perfect, great sound excellent!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!!!!

Summary: This is a nice player for the money.
Review: This player came with MusicMatch Plus and a good Audio Manager. It was easily installed and runs great with Windows XP. It's a well-made player and sounds great too. One warning though...DO NOT purchase a Sandisk 64MB MMC card to use with this player. It just doesn't work. It's documented on Intel's site but I found out too late. I have heard any other brand works fine.

Review: I can only reiterate the positive reviews below. I can't comment on the Intel software, because I already have and use MusicMatch Jukebox. I used MusicMatch to download files to the player: very easy and very fast.
I have a great pair of Sony ear buds (Fontopia), and they are better than the supplied earbuds which are just mediocre (about the same quality as you'd get with most portable electronics), so you might want to get a better pair.
The Intel Personal Audio Player has all the features I wanted. You can jump tracks forward and backward, pause, and fast forward and fast rewind.
If you pause it too long (about) 1 minute, it promptly turns itself off. I like this feature as it saves the battery. No problem if it turns off, just turn it on again and it will resume from where it let off. I haven't timed the battery life, but it could be 10 hours. Tip: Buy NiMH batteries (NOT Ni-CD) and a charger (Cat.# 23-427 at [store] $7.99). They last at least as long as Alkalines and can be recharged about 1000 times. Cost: Don't pay more than $4 each for AA NiMHs.
Yes, the buttons are hard to push, but they seem rugged and are sealed with rubber so water won't get in and degrade them.
Wish list: It would be nice to have a backlight and the song name appear on the display.
I added the upgrade of the additional $64M multimedia card. (Amazon.com for $45) and experimented with different bit rates when ripping CDs. I found that at 96KB, I could not distingush between it and the original CD played thru my ear buds. At the 96K bit rate, I was able to load on 46 songs for a total play time of 2hrs. 48 Min.!

Summary: Great player, even comes with Japanese software
Review: This is a great MP3 player, light, small and well-built. What was surprising to me was when I installed the software to my PC that runs Japanese version of Windows98, the attached CD-ROM automatically installed a Japanese version of Audio Manager, which can handle two byte letters perfectly. Intel did a great job. One Caution: Intel has placed a notice that some of SanDisk 64MB MMC (but not 32MB) has compatibility problem with this player, which was exactly what happend to me. I had to return the SanDisk MMC and get a Viking MMC in exchange (Amazon did a super job) and it worked just fine. NOTE added:
After a few email exchanges with an Intel rep, I found that there are two versions of Intel Audio Manager 2.0, and what I purchased was the international version that has the software in many languages. There apparently is a US version that only comes with English software but with a little up-dated than the international version. For example, the international version does not import m3u playlist if the list file has a comment line at the beginning, which is the case with the m3u files created by Winamp. You can manually delete the comment line with Notepad, and it works just fine with Intel Audio Manager international version. The latest version English software is available at the Intel support site, but there is no fix planned for software in other languages.

Summary: I couldn't be happier - almost...
Review: I've never written a review on anything I've purchased online before, but I felt I should add my thoughts on this mp3 player. First, I'll mention what isn't so hot about the Personal Audio Player 3000... if you go below 128bits on your files (mp3 or wma), you're going to get noticable crackling and loss of fidelity. You really have to use files that are at 128bits or higher in order to retain full sounding music. The only other problem I have is that it seems like Intel is going to phase this product out and I can't see why... just doesn't seem to make sense. Aside from that, this is a great player. I also purchased a SanDisk 64meg MMC card, and with the total of about 122megs of memory (the player itself uses some megs and takes away a little bit from the storage capacity) I was able to get 2:30 hours of 128bit mp3's...not bad at all. Without the extra memory, I got around 75 mins. of music. Finally, it has a nice overall package... small, durable, comfortable to hold, nice belt clip, and the ear buds are decent too... not the best, but not as bad as some of the reviews make them out to be! Considering what every other mp3 player goes for these days, this is an excellent value and I'm glad I bought this little thang.

Summary: Good, but incomplete
Review: This player is good for my gardening job because it was light and didn't get in my way. My main complaint is that despite the claim that it could hold over 2 hours of music, I only got about and hour and seven minutes with the base 64 mb of memory filled up. Because of this, I'm going to have to buy a memory expansion card (another 50 or so bucks). You don't want to use the included ear buds for a long time either, as they make your ears hurt after a while.
