Summary: Talk about the perfect product!!
Review: There is almost too much good stuff to say about this product (HipZip) to fit it into a review, it needs an article. I tried out the SonicBlue DiamondRio last week, which was my first experience with an mp3 player...I was not at all impressed. After using it for a few hours, my view of mp3 players dropped considerably. The interface was limited, the space was limited, the software was terrible (complicated), the sound was aweful and the buttons didn't make a lot of sense to me. Then, I ordered the HipZip...all of these problems were a thing of the past. The sound is incredible, the interface is very impressive, the connectivity is simple (it even works in Linux!!), the software is classic Iomega software and very intuitive and the firmware is updated contantly (there was an update the day I bought it with excellent new features). Plus, the device doubles as a drive, so sometimes you forget that it is even an mp3 player. I love the little click disks (I have 6 of them). To conclude, this device is very well rounded and a great buy! I don't believe it is excessively heavy at all and I really like the look. Buy it!

Summary: Finally... I got a good MP3 player!
Review: This HipZip player is the best mp3 player i've ever had. I entered the scene with a RIO 300, and it ended up broken in my backpack (the parallel tranfer was very, very slow). I decided to buy a new MP3 player, but being short on cash, I decided to purchase one .... I purchased a D-Link DMP-110, which was only .... I enjoyed this MP3 player, it had fast USB transfer, but sucked up two AAA batteries in 5 hours. Then I saw this HipZip on Amazon,... . ....This thing is great. Even though its larger than the other MP3 players I've had, it makes up for it with its memory. And the disks are so cheap! 40mb for ...! The USB transfer is really fast. The computer recognizes it as a disk drive, so you can store things other than music. Its internal battery runs up to 12 hrs. No more purchasing batteries. Just plug it in, and in 2hrs, it is fully charged. The interface is easy to use, and the backlight improves the visibiliy. The player has an OS, "Dadio" and it is upgradeable. The Headphones are horrible. If you get this thing, buy a new pair. Aside from that, this thing is the best ever!!!

Summary: Got what I expected
Review: It does exactly what I expected. I have had no problems with the device as of yet. I take it hiking and biking and it does the job. However, now that I have it, it would be nice if the disks were double if not triple the storage space. It's kind of a drag to change the disk in such short intervals. But again, I knew how much data they would hold before I bought it. This also means I carry about 6 disks with me at a time to make sure I have plenty of music. It's a trade off. I didn't really want one of the bigger jukeboxes and still don't see the need. I don't want to manage that much music when I'm trying to enjoy what I'm doing. With the hipzip it's like playing a mixed CD everytime you stick one in so music management is cake.

Summary: This product is great!
Review: I just purchased a Iomega HipZip tonight. When I got home I plugged it in, the battery had a minimal charge to it so I was able to listen immediately. There was already music to listen to since Iomega pre-recoreded songs on the 2 included 40 meg PocketZip disks. The player comes with a BodyGlove/Iomega protective case which fits the bill nicely, all the controls are still within reach with the case. Without reading the manual, I was able to navigate the player and figure out the controls in minutes. There are alot of different adjustments such as bass and treble, playlist etc. that will have you tinkering for awhile. The supplied ear phones performed as expected since they are the little ear plug type. It took a minute to figure out how to get the things situated in my ears correctly but they work. They sound alright, but an investment in better earphones would be a wise choice. There are absolutely no gripes about the sound quality from the player. Crisp and the sound levels can get quite high depending on the MP3. There is also no skipping, even considering the removable PocketZip disks. Note: I tried hooking up the player via USB without installing the Iomega software and Windows Me recognized the player as a removable harddrive. So in effect, all you need to do to add or remove songs is to select and delete from My Computer. I installed the Iomega software which provides a html manual, Jukebox software, and Windows Media Player 7. The jukebox program is easy to use but unneccessary unless you are looking for an mp3 player for Windows. The method of adding songs I use is simple, select the mp3 or wma files you want and either drag them to the Removable Drive icon in My Computer or copy and paste them. It took about 20-30 seconds to transfer a full disks worth (40 megs). The player does another great thing which I don't believe any other players do: doubles as a portable harddrive. With 40 megs you can hold alot of images, mpgs, files etc.. to transfer from one pc to another provided they have USB ports. I tested this out by copying a 30 meg video clip from my pc to my wifes pc. It unloaded the file onto hers in about 20 seconds and without error and without any Iomega software installation. This feature alone makes this little player worth it in my book. I don't know what else to say about the Iomega HipZip other than I would recommend it to anyone. I have always loved Iomega products and this one doesn't let me down. In fact, I think it's their best one yet.

Review: I purchased this not as an MP3 player ('cause my Jukebox has that job locked up tight), but as a player for Audible.com, which is a downloadable, audio book service. I have had other Iomega products and so I chose the HipZip from the list of compatible players because the other Iomega products I've owned have been good. The HipZip is no exception. It is well-packaged, sturdily made, intuitively controllable (I don't recall having to look at any manual) and has very nice sound (the 2 40meg disks it ships with have some mp3 files preloaded on them, like demos, so I have heard it reproduce music & text). The software & USB set-up was a breeze and the recharger, while not the most portable design possible, is fine. That there is a built-in, rechargeable Lithium Ion battery is a major plus. The BodyGlove belt-clip case is really well made and fits, well, like a glove. The earphones, however, you can keep. I have ordered a car charger and a cassette adapter and some more 40 meg disks, which when viewed in dollars-per-megabyte terms, are extremely reasonable (about 1/4 the price of other, popular removeable media). All in all, I am really pleased.

Review: I am extremely picky about my electronic purchases. I received a Rio 600 for Christmas and could tell without even opening the box that it wasn't going to suit my needs. I went straight to the net to begin my researching process. You can't buy a better MP3 player than the Iomega HipZip. Here's why: 1) Storage is incredible. The two mini zip disks that come with it, hold 40 MB each. I was able to easily put on 9 MP3s on one disk. That gives you 80 MB total giving you 18-20 MP3s. I noticed today that there is a mail in rebate that gives you 2 more mini zip disks for free! That means, for the price of the player, you are getting 160 MB. Incredible. Have you seen the prices of some of the other removable media options? MEGA expensive. You can buy additional disks for a fraction the price. 2) File transfer is a cinch. It shows up as another letter drive on my computer. Just simply drag and drop. I think it took maybe 2 seconds to transfer one MP3. 3) carrying case is sleek and effective. Who would be dumb enough to market a player without some kind of belt attachment? Obviously Iomega wasn't. It works great. 4) battery life is more than sufficient. Once it gets low, just recharge. Very hassle free. 5) Player is very well designed. Back light, easy to use built in menus, great screen, are only a few of the great features. I could go on. These few points may seem insignificant, but they really have added to my over all satisfaction with the product. An excellent buy. Make the right choice, go Hip.

Summary: Do Not Buy This!!!!
Review: It is only cool if you only need for flights or short car trips and so on. I use mine for the gym, if it works it's great but the problem in for one it DOES NOT play for 12 hours!!! If it only has a half charge it will die very shortly. Also it only gets a full charge if you completly run out the batteries, so if you have a half charge it will not fully charge. I have contacted the company and they said to run out the batteries and then charge it up. You are better off getting one with replaceable battery such as AA,AAA and so on, so you always know how much play time you have..I am in the market for one with replaceable battery

Review: this thing seems not bad according to other reviews. But I have no luck, mine is a defective one. It just refuses to charge when it is plugged in AC.

Summary: Reliable, it 'aint
Review: Seemed like a great product at first, with additional ability to store files and connect to the PC, as well as being a decent MP3 player. I quickly found out the unit was slow in response when turning on and off and going thru the menu options. Also, since it is a mechanical drive, the unit hung up if shook or jostled and only way to reset is to put a small pin into the reset hole.
The most disturbing thing, however, is that the product is unreliable and likely to fail within a year. Since Iomega no longer support the units - DO NOT BUY!!
