Once I loaded up the software, connected to the Cabo, initialized the memory - I was able to download without issue. Also, my headphone connection appears good as I do not have the left/right issue that some reviewers reported.Overall a good player. Wish the memory was a little more upgradeable, but other than that I'm happy with the unit.

Summary: Help: A Slight Problem Still Open
Review: This afternoon i'm glad to get it. But as expected, the old problems mentioned previously occured. The machine(the installed software) couldn't connect the player, though the play screen showed 'connect' and you actually, can download MP3's from machine to player.
The software cann't show up the MP3 list stored in player, so i have no way to edit the playlist in player.
BTW, is the ECP configuration refer to a check in the software, for i cann't find it elsewhere.
If you know the answer, please let me know.

Summary: Excellent deal for the price
Review: Just received my Cabo and I am compelled to weigh in on this product. Admittedly, I'd read the cautions in earlier reviews (it's true that documentation never says to "connect and list" but it does seem pretty obvious) and had already downloaded the software, but, having said that, I was up and running within five minutes after opening the box. Previously I had a Rio 300 and the Cabo is as good or better in almost every way. Sound is good, plenty of volume, okay quality. Slapped in my 32 Meg Smartcard and I have an hour and a half of music. My only gripe: why couldn't they provide throughput on printer port connector like the Rio 300 did? In any case, bottom line, this seems a VERY good product for the price.

Summary: Fine little player -- if you get the right software for it
Review: OK, this is my first portable MP3 player, and I would NOT recommend it for people who like their gadgets playable right out of the box. But since I've had little problem with stuff that works when it's tweakable -- and I got that sense from the Cabo reviews here -- I went with this one.
It's a fine little player for my purposes (I take it to the gym to snuff out the disco music they play there). But I STRONGLY suggest not even trying the Cabo desktop software that comes with this thing. Go straight to jazpiper.com (the JazPiper is pretty much the same product) and get Version 1.1.1.1 of the JazPiper desktop software. This is far more stable and superior to the aged stuff -- which locked up my NT machine several times -- that comes with the Cabo (and it's also compatible with Windows 2000, unlike the older stuff). Once you have that, you're home free: If you can't afford, say, Intel's latest MP3 entry, this is a decent and cheap intro to the portable MP3 world.

Summary: Someone set this player up the bomb!
Review: I bought one of these little zigs two weeks ago, and strugled with it for like three hours before I could get it to connect wich it only did once the refused to do ever again. Then I found out the headphone jack doesn't work.
What you say? Theres no way I'm calling tech support and paying 7 dollars (my dad would kill me) just to have them tell me that "all my bases belong to them" when they don't now what their doing. ... I'm firing this zig!
As for you, if your reading this, you have a chance to escape - make your time!

Summary: Great player -if it works...
Review: I got this player a few weeks ago. I had minimal difficulty getting set up, thanks to the reviews listed below. Unfortunately, my player was one of the unlucky ones that had a bad headphone jack. Amazon was great about sending out a new one, but I barely made the rebate deadline -we'll see if I get it. The new player works great. The only software glitch I've encountered that's not listed is that it would lock up whenever I accessed my main file of MP3's. This was because the folder size was too large (~9.5 GB). After moving the MP3's to a smaller folder, I didn't have any more problems. Overall, it is a good deal if you have some patience and are willing to take a risk of getting a bad player right off the bat. If you're not a risk-taker or lack patience, I'd have second thoughts about this MP3 player. Hope this helps...

Summary: MUST BUY!
Review: I read the on-line reviews and was skeptical to purchase this product. It seems like some of the comments are triggered by the fact that the users are unfamiliar with mp3 players in general. I had the first Nomad for a year, and some of the same criticisms people had regarding the CABO could be said for the original Nomad. However, the CABO software is easier to use and works better than the software that came with my Nomad. The sound quality is the same. I received the player, loaded the software, loaded the songs and was outside running with it an hour and a half later. The one thing to note is that originally when I hooked it up to my computer I got an error message that said the player was not connected even though it was. I simply went under File and clicked on Connect and List and the problem went away. I am still waiting to see if I actually get the rebate, but if so, getting a 96 mb player (with the 32 mb Smartmedia card) ...is a steal.

Review: I bought my Cabo several months ago and have had few of the problems mentioned here by others. My headphone jack is fine, and I had no problem connecting to the computer once I installed the newest version of the software. I've even dropped it several times (by accident), and it keeps on ticking.
Considering it has 64mb and is expandable up to 96mb -- all for $100, it's still the best deal around...

Summary: Cheap Price, Cheap Looking, Cheap Feel, Cheap Sounds
Review: This was the first mp3 player purchase for me, and I was attracted by the agressive pricing for a 64MB player and the voice recording option. Once I received the product, the first impression was that it looked cheaply made, and not very solid looking. Sound was tinny, but I did not have another mp3 player to compare it against. Also, the jack was very sensitive, and a slight jostle or a certain angle would cause sound only to come out of one earphone. (not acceptible for my main purchase reason - portable player for running). I immediately returned the product and purchased the RIO500 with 64MB memory, and the quality, sound, build is leaps and bounds better than the Cabo. ...

Review: In my personal opinion, this is a pretty good product. Maybe the documentation is not good but I managed to download music and play them right after I got it without taking look at the documents. It is pretty easy I'd say. Sounds are pretty clear on this player. Download speed is about 750-900kb/sec which I think is pretty fast. Only thing is that the DSP mode is not quite good. Rock gives too much base while Pop does not give enough. Battery runs out a little fast but reasonable I guess. If you are using Win2000, you do not have to worry because BestData.com has win2000 driver to download. Overall, in terms of its price and its quality, I'd say it is worth buying.
