Summary: Excellent Product
Review: I researched MP3 players for quite a while before buying this one. Glad I waited. The sound is great, the radio reception is good, I don't really have a need for the voice capabilities. Installing the packaged software was easy and I've had no problems using it. The only drawback that I have noticed is that it is VERY, VERY difficult to get the Smartmedia Card out once you have inserted it into the player (but I guess that's better than having it fall out and losing it). Looking forward to the availability of the wired remote. A belt clip would be a great idea as well.

Summary: Fantastic - when it works
Review: I started out with the Nomad II, which looks better, and has a better screen. It died after one day, a toll call to tech support said just ship it back, some kind of electrical short. OK. Decided to replace it with the MG because of the extra memory slot. Then the computer wouldn't recognize it. Another toll call to tech support said to download the firmware upgrade, and not to use the default music manager, download the new one of that as well. Fine. It worked great! I loved it for working around the house, in the yard, etc. Good sound, great battery life (rechargeable- nice), compact size. A week later, the docking station power light was very dim. The computer wouldn't recognize it. It wouldn't turn on. Another toll call to tech support (who are very good, btw but don't bother calling Sunday) said ship it back. I'll be on my third one soon and it _will_ be the last one, so I'm hoping it works as well as it can.

Summary: Cheap components make a cheap finished product
Review: I've had this player out of the box for about three hours and the battery contacts already broke off. I had a really hard time getting it to work in general, the docking station appeared dead because of the loose battery connection in the player (the station is not USB powered, it requires the batteries in the player to work). The documentation on the Nomad site leaves much to be desired, as does the troubleshooting in the back of the paper manual. I got it to work by putting regular AAA batteries in as they're a fraction of a mm bigger than the rechargables included with the product. I transfered one file to the player and it was really fast, about 5 seconds for a 7MB file. The play back sounded great too. But unfortunately I wasn't satified with having it work using my TV remote batteries, I wanted it to work using the rechargables it came with. I decided to bend the prong out a bit to improve the connection, but everytime I stuck the battery in it just went back to it's original position no matter how careful I was. After the fourth time the prong just snapped off. Not wanting to wait until the product is back in stock for a replacement and definitely not wanting Creative to replace it with a refurbished one (it's 3 hours old, if I wanted a refurbished one that's what I would have purchased to begin with), I decided to put my electrical engineering training to use and took it apart to see if anything could be rigged short of soldering the contact prong back on. I can't believe how cheaply this thing is made, it's components belong in a $10 toy, not a $200 gadget. No dice with the repair either, but it was really easy to take apart which was a bonus. If you take one apart be sure to remove the flash card if you have one in, otherwise it will be difficult to put back together. The outside is really sweet looking, and it works great if you can get it to work, but over all it's just cheaply made and doesn't have what it takes. I'm sad that i've wasted my time and money. Too bad I'm not quite girly enough to be pleased with just the pretty casing.

Review: If you are reading this, you already know this MP3 player is the Cadillac of the player market. Headphones blow. IT WORKS WITH MAC OS X (YES) Intigrates flawlessly with iTunes. Why are you still reading, go ahead and buy it!!

Review: Its slim, kewl, high tech, i have it for more than 6 months, no probs with it. Just new players coming out and the technology keeps out pushing old stuff away .. !!

Summary: Worth It!
Review: My first portable MP3 and I am not disappointed. Positives: sounds great, small, lightweight, reasonably well-made, built-in memory, fast downloads, docking station with rechargeable batteries. Negatives: FM radio weak (does not compare to Sony FM Sports Walkman). Docking station quirky - lacks the reassuring 'click' a la Palm Pilot. Creative software awful - grab MS Windows Media Player instead (but to use it, you'll need the firmware update available on Creative's web page). Plan on replacing the headphones (unless you like being uncomfortable). And in general, requires careful handling (cannot take abuse like a sports walkman... forget about taking it out in the rain). In-line remote would have been nice. Arm or belt clip even nicer. But trust me, if you like to exercise to music you'll never go back!

Summary: Good Deal!
Review: Nomad II MG is a very good player; it is small and has a great sound quality provided you do not use the cheap headphones that come with the player. The reception of the radio depends on where you are like with many small handheld radios, but in the city I have no trouble at all. The 2 AAA rechargeable batteries have a reasonable playtime and a very short recharging time. At the same time the ability to use non-rechargables is a very good alternative on longer trips. Now there is a wired remote ($50) and a usb-cable ($20) that eliminates the need to carry around the docking-station when traveling. Also the latest firmware addressed more than couple of the downfalls of the player including the ability to use 128mb smart media instead of the max of 64mb. File transfer is very easy and fast. The ability to update the player thanks to the firmware postings by Creative Labs makes this player a great deal compared to the rest of the bunch around the same price since it keeps up with changes in technology.

Summary: The Porsche of MP3 Players
Review: Okay.. well.. after demoing a lot of mp3 players, I bought this player. I have a Rio 500 as well. Between the two: The Nomad II MG has FAR louder sound than the rio. The docking station is just annoying compared to the simple cable of the rio (I think you can buy a cable for the Nomad though) The timescaling function is useless (Nomad II MG) Nomad II is not much smaller, but feels smaller. Software on the PC: Rio Audio Manager is lame, but not as bad as the default creative software. It is clunky to use. I will just use the winamp plugin I think. Also, the RIO does copy files slightly faster, but not much.
