Summary: Excellent Buy
Review: I've had a 17" CRT on my desk for a long time now, but with the January 2003 rebate, the price was too good to pass up. Do a little research on the features and specs of the MP704B and you'll find that you're getting a whole lot for your money. The image quality is fantastic, the monitor chassis itself is very sleek and professional, and, of course, you can't beat the form factor. Reviews from trusted computing sites agree. (By the way, don't be fooled by the rather unflattering washed-out image the LCD is showing in Amazon's picture. You won't be disappointed with the MP704B's vivid colors.)

Right now I have the MP704B hooked up to the 2nd VGA-out on my GeForce4 Ti4200 so that I can use both monitors (the MP704B and my old CRT) at once as one giant desktop. But, after becoming accustomed to the sharpness and vividness of the Cornea display, I find myself looking less and less at my CRT monitor. The only problem I had initally was that the excellent 450:1 contrast ratio made the LCD too dark to play games like Counter-Strike on (have to be able to see into dark corners, and the black was just too black). However, a simple tweaking of my video card's gamma settings resolved this issue, and now even fast paced games look better than ever (no blurring or shadowing like on some older LCDs).

This truly is an excellent bargain. I highly recommend the MP704B to anyone looking for better image quality and more desk space without spending $...

Summary: Great Bang for your Buck
Review: My Cornea MP704 was purchased from Amazon.com for a total of $...before a $... rebate from the manufacturer, bringing the total cost down to $.... After extensive internet research and price watching over the past few months, this is the first time that I have encountered a non-refurbished 17" TFT for under $.... The monitor was delivered in perfect working condition (zero dead pixels) three business days after the purchase date.

The positives: price (obvious), quality display, and a 3-year limited warranty, that beat most of the big-name manufacturers. This warranty guarantees a unit exchange (with shipping fees) if the product is found to be faulty within the first year. In the remaining years, repair / replace will be determined by the manufacturer. Cornea also has a 3 dead-pixel minimum for replacement whereas most other brands require 10 before they'll replace the unit.

The negatives: the stand is fixed. It will tilt forward and back but isn't height-adjustable. This is a pretty minute drawback for most, but may be a problem for those using the monitor on a counter-top while standing. The biggest negative that I found is that the DISPLAY SPECS ARE INCORRECTLY LISTED by Amazon.com. I realize these specs are supplied to Amazon.com by the manufacture so I don't necessarily fault them for it, but this is something consumers need to be aware of. After reading my owners manual, Cornea lists the contrast ratio at 350:1 whereas Amazon.com states 450:1. The actual response time (35 ms) is longer than what is stated on the website (25 ms). While these discrepancies are negligible to most home consumers, they can mean quite a difference for any graphic-intensive applications.

All-in-all, the positives greatly out weight the negatives, in my opinion. This is definitely a great purchase for those seeking value.

UPDATE (1-29-03): After contacting Cornea Systems to inquire about the discrepancies in the monitor specifications, I was able to determine the following. Cornea states that Amazon.com's listing is correct. I was told that the owner's manual hasn't changed since the product's release, even though the product's technology has improved. Obviously, this is what I wanted to hear, but I have no way of verifying their claim. However, after a couple of weeks of usage, I have found the response time to be adequately sufficient to run games without delay. The backlight is also very bright, so I believe their statement to be true. This is a great product.

Summary: Super Performance at a Bargain Price
Review: I have used this monitor for several weeks now and absolutely love it. The display is crisp and clear, very bright with rich colors. Both text and video are excellent and it comes with an above average warranty (3 years) and the base folds flat to form a carrying handle if you need to move it. I would recommend this monitor to any and all.

Summary: Very nice inexpensive LCD monitor
Review: This is an excellant, bargain-priced monitor with an above average 3 year guarantee. The display has an exceptional contrast ratio (450:1), is very bright and clear and performs well with both text and video. It worked right out of the box, I didn't need to load drivers or to adjust anything. With the [...] rebate this thing is a steal.

Summary: Outstanding Value! Outstanding Monitor!
Review: After considerable research comparing LCD monitor specs and trying out a couple of monitors, Samsung and MAG,I went with this Cornea MP704. The other reviewers who rated this monitor were right on the money, this is an exceptional value. Setup was easy and the picture quality is great. If you are looking for a LCD monitor with great specs, reasonable price and without extra features like speakers... this Cornea is definitely worth a look. Get a good video card which makes a big difference in display quality. One other observation, the monitor was made in Korea, so I would bet it is made at the same factory as Samsung LCD monitors.

Summary: Much better than I expected
Review: I've been using LCD monitors of different brand names at work. I bought this Cornea MP704B for my own PC at home. For the price, this Cornea is the best, especially if you look at it at an angle. If you are in digital photo and have your own darkroom on your PC, this LCD screen is a must, since it depicts the colors (multi) excellently.

Summary: Crisp & Clear Viewing
Review: I got this monitor for work. I just love it! I was pleasantly surprised at the clarity of the images once I "programmed" the image settings -- which was easy to do (touch buttons on panel to modify). The screen size was larger than my old monitor, which made viewing easier on my eyes. This was an added bonus, since I work on the computer all day. For the price (great value), I think this is a great monitor. I would highly recommend for those who are budget conscience and value shoppers.

Summary: No dead pixels, and it works as advertised
Review: This is the only Cornea brand product I've ever bought, so I can't comment on their overall quality, but after about a year and a half with this monitor, I've had zero problems and would buy another one.

As I said in the title, I have no dead pixels. Or, rather, if I do have any, I haven't noticed them and it certainly isn't a problem. For about 3 years prior to owning this monitor, I used a NEC 17 inch CRT that had a company's logo burned into the screen. That didn't really bother me, so perhaps I'm not the best source for monitor quality, though, as a photographer, I'd like to think I have a good eye or two. I've done some mid-level graphic work on this monitor and haven't had an issue one way or another.

Don't know if you can still buy this, but if you can, its good for the price I paid for it. Probably a lot cheaper now.

Summary: First LCD I ever purchased, fantastic...

Summary: Outstanding!
Review: Very easy to set up and install. Crystal clear graphics, and NOT ONE PROBLEM after using it for six months. Text is crisp and clear, and graphics intensive programs (I'm a big gamer) are just as good. I was pleasantly surprised by how bright and clear the picture quality is with this monitor. I highly recommend this monitor for anyone looking to step up to LCD and save some money in the process!
