Summary: Maybe
Review: Beautiful picture, a fantastic value for 1280x1024.

However there is no horizontal size adjustment so the aspect ratio at other resolutions is unacceptable. At 800x600 and 1024x768 a 7" circle measures 7.0 x 7.5" and cannot be changed.

Summary: Killer monitor, with a Killer price
Review: I've been staring at a 19" CRT monitor for years. It was like having a compact car on my desktop. I bought this LCD monitor and man, it's great. Sharp color. Small footprint. Great price. And oh baby, you should see a DVD play on this. The viewable area of this 17" LCD is THE SAME as my old 19" CRT (cathode ray tube) setup. And since its analog, you can upgrade your video card at will, no digital dongles to mess with.....You have a hard time walking away from your computer!

Summary: WOW! Merry Christmas to ME! :)
Review: After much consideration, many hours of tireless research on flat panel 15 and 17 inch screens and boundless determination to find the best buy for the best price, here I am! This is truly everything I had hoped it would be! I missed my flat panel screen from my old job and needed a replacement desperately for my historic 13" crt home pc. I couldn't be happier! Bright colors, easy installation, excellent price, CNET Editors choice pic and I agree 150%! It was back ordered for an extra week or so since I ordered the first week in December, but the extra week of waiting was WELL worth it. And yes, you DO get what you pay for, so if you are looking for a good home, or work for that matter, lcd flat panel without having a caviar budget, this is the monitor for you! TWO THUMBS UP! :D

Summary: Not good!
Review: Really bad. I've not had very good luck in contacting the company either. I like the size of it but the picture quality really is poor. One feels like its Halloween there are so many ghosts. And the company response is unsatisfactory. Keep looking for a better machine.

Summary: Very good monitor at a great price
Review: My monitor arrived last night with no dead pixels (whew!). Great image quality and it seems to deliver on all of its promises. I have a couple of minor gripes: The power cord & power adapter combination is not well designed - the dc line coming out of the adapter box is about a foot long which restricts where you can put the adapter box. One place you can't put it is EXACTLY where you'd want to - on the floor with all your other power stuff. I'm going to end up duct-taping the adapter to the back of the base just because they didn't make the dc cord long enough to reach the floor. The data cable is attached at the monitor so forget ever replacing it (without shipping the whole monitor back) if you need to. The 15 pin connector has finger screws but no screwdriver slots which makes it difficult to tighten in confined spaces. You have to go to the Envision web site for the full product manual - they only ship a quickstart guide with the monitor. You should get the manual before you dive into the setup but it's hard to resist plugging it in and taking a look. Anyway, I suspect I'll go through a few days of playing with the configuration and being moderately annoyed before I get things exactly right. Maybe if I'd paid twice as much for another brand it would be perfect out of the box... Personally, I'd rather save the money and be (temporarily) annoyed. It is REALLY nice to have that option. Overall, a great value!

Review: This is a great monitor. My only question is where is the rebate paper work? Standing by for the information.

Summary: Very Pleasantly Surprised
Review: After reading all the reviews, my thoughts ran along the same as the person who bought this monitor knowing that he could return it if he was not pleased. (This in my opinion is a positive reflection on Amazon.)

I have set the monitor up and used it in three different environments and have noted what seems to bring out the best in this particular monitor.

I tried it on three machines.
Win98 - 32mb nvidia TNT video card.
Win2000 - 64mb ati video card.
WinXP - 64 mb nvidia geforce3 video card.

Under 98 with the 32mb the text was a bit fuzzy and graphics are a tad shadowy but still good enough to keep considering the space saving feature.

Win2000 with 64mb ati video card text looks excellent and graphics are clear. The only irratant is when the computer comes out of standby the monitor needs to do its "self adjusting" to center itself. No biggie, just a comment.

WinXP with 64mb nvidia geforce3 video card - This monitor seems to be made for WinXP. The quality is amazing. Using the "clear type" option the text is clearer than on my Sony Trinitron 21" monitor. The colors are vibrant and clear, there isn't any "self adjusting" going on when coming out of standby. It looks great immediately.

For 549$ (now 499$ with rebate) You cannot beat it.

Only one negative - one dead pixel. It actually went away for awhile but came back, so I have hopes it may disappear again. It is over on the far right so not in my line of vision.

If you have a limited budget and space I would totally recommend this monitor.

I hope this review helps in your decision on whether to purchase this monitor or not.

Summary: happy with it
Review: I've had this monitor a couple of weeks and for the money I think you can't go wrong with this one , go for it ,
If you have windows XP turn on the clear type ,
If you have patience you can wait until they get cheaper ,
but its hard to beat the price for the size .

Summary: a great deal
Review: After a lot of price point research, went with this LCD and it was the right thing to do: a fine flat panel display for half the price of the Apple monitor. One issue only -- mine arrived with a single dead pixel on the screen (as did another poster's here). Thought about going through the headache of sending it back and exchanging it for another one, but the manual (...) says "The LCD screen has effective pixels of 99.99% or more. It may include blemishes of 0.01% or less such as a missing pixel or a pixel lit all of the time." No biggie, not for a 17" LCD for $ 500. And, in terms of office decor, for anyone who thinks it might not 'match' their G4, like the Apple LCDs do -- the case is in not the generic computer putty color the photo suggests, but a shiny silver. Highly recommended.

Summary: Good stuff!
Review: I have been in the market for a while for a LCD monitor and found this particular one a great value. I was looking at first at 18" LCDs, such as the Philips 180P and Princeton Graphic's Senergy 850. After looking around, I came across the Envision 7100. It was one of the cnet.com editor's choice for LCD monitors, so I gave it a look. After seeing no difference between some of the different models, I decided it was worth it for me to give up a little on screen real estate, and save $500-1000.

It does not have all the bells and whistles like some of the other LCDs (USB ports, pivot features, etc.), but I really didn't need those features and couldn't justify paying hundreds more for them. Another thing to keep in mind, however, is that it looks best in its native resolution (1280x1024). Anything outside that resolution, and text gets blurry and pixelated (relatively speaking).

However, it is a great value, and performs very well graphically speaking. I have two CRTs at home, one a Mitsubishi, and the other a Sony, and this monitor is very easy on the eyes compared to those two. 3D games look good on this monitor, although I prefer the CRT; it may take some time getting used to the LCD. Plus, you can't beat the 3 year warranty.

I highly recommend this monitor to those who are looking for a LCD display, but are not graphic designers with money to burn, or those who aren't die-hard for Sony. (aka. "everything sucks but Sony"...ha!)
