Summary: GREAT MONITOR RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX.
Review: THIS HAS TURNED OUT TO BE A VERY PLEASANT SURPRISE. THIS MONITOR IS A QUALITY LCD RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX. NO PROBLEMS WITH ASSEMBLY, DRIVER INSTALLATION, OR BAD PIXELS. FOR THE PRICE ITS BEEN BETTER THAN EXPECTED AND I COULD NOT ASK FOR BETTER PERFORMANCE(SO FAR THAT IS). I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO COMPLAINTS WITH THIS PRODUCT. THE DELIVERY WAS PROMPT, THE MONITOR WAS WELL PACKED AND CAREFULLY HANDLED BY UPS. I WOULD RECCOMMEND THIS TO ANYONE LOOKING FOR QUALITY AT A GREAT PRICE.

Summary: Very nice monitor, good price too
Review: I am very pleased with my purchase of the Envision EN-7100 monitor. It arrived in perfect condition, no dead pixels. I resisted spending the money on a new monitor for a long time, but now I'm glad I made the switch to LCD. The color and clarity is wonderful. Most of all, I love having all this extra space on my desk. For the money, this is a great monitor.

Summary: 2 monitors, 2 returned
Review: The first monitor had a problem with the screen. Fortunately, I was able to exchange it for a new monitor.

Unfortunately, the second monitor worked fine for about 3 weeks but then a portion of the screen started getting lighter than other portions of the screen. Another reviewer stated that black isn't 100% black. Well, it is a defect and since Compusa only allow returns within 14 days, I am stuck shipping this monitor to Texas.

I am without a monitor for a few weeks. Obviously, I am disappointed and it is a hassle. I guess you get what you pay for. With the cost of shipping and insurance, I could have purchased a Samsung.

Summary: A great LCD monitor
Review: I just got this En-1700Si LCD from Staples on Black Friday sale. And I found I just love it! So far, no dead pixel is found, the text is scrap and the picture is very clear. Take the cheap price of $230 into account, I really think this model is a very good choice if you are not doing a sophisticated graphic work.

Summary: just ok
Review: i use this monitor for cad, and after using other viewsonics, this one is pretty darn good. lines and text are all very sharp using the native resolution of 1280x1024. i would have given it 5 stars if it wasn't for one bright green dead pixel, and a more discrite one darker and off to the side. from reading other reviews, it seems to be common for this monitor

Summary: A great LCD for the money
Review: This LCD monitor is superb. It was easy to setup right out of the box. I was concerned about bad pixels but there were none. The picture is bright and crisp. I love it. If your looking for a relatively cheap 17 inch LCD monitor you can't go wrong with this one.

Summary: Can't seem to get one without dead pixels
Review: My first monitor arrived and had two damaged pixels - one stuck on bright green, the other very dark. Amazon was excellent about sending a replacement but unfortunately, it also had a dead pixel (at least this one was in a better location). The delays from return means not only will I miss the rebate period if I try for a third time (Amazon seemed to direct me towards a refund instead or a replacement), but I also missed a great deal/rebate on my second choice for a monitor, so I am back to square one. If you have time to keep returning / testing monitors, this might be a good deal. I feel the purchase has been a waste of my time.

Summary: A big disappointment...
Review: I promised myself that if my old 17" CRT monitor died, my next monitor will be a LCD(flatscreen). I looked all over for a reasonably priced 17" LCD monitor. Most were in the $450-$600 price range which was beyond what I was willing to spend. You can imagine how thrilled I was when I came across the 17" Envision EN-7100E monitor on this site. It was highly ranked among the LCD monitor purchases, being #1 or #2 on the list. I was even more pleased that it had such a high rating at 4.5 stars. And I was absolutely elated at the unbelievable price.

I read the reviews on this site and everyone seemed to be so pleased with the color and picture clarity. However, some people had some gripes about the way the text appeared on the screen. This is one of the reasons why I rated this monitor a 2. Yes, it's that bad. I mean, I was disappointed practically as soon as I got it hooked up. The negatives are far worse than the positives.

Negatives:
- The text is unclear and not sharp. I find that the text is distorted and fuzzy. I have to strain my eyes to read documents on the screen. I tried everything to make the text more clear, including changing the font size, resolution, changing from the standard font style to cleartype, etc., etc. Nothing's worked. I tried various possible solutions that either made the problem worse or had no effect at all.
- The color doesn't blow my mind. It's no better than my old CRT monitor and in some situations the color is worse. The colors are not as vivid or crisp as I thought they would be. Some images have a grainy look to them.
- The monitor also has an uncomfortable glare that I can't seem to reduce even when I lessen the brightness or contrast.
- The monitor does not come with a complete manual. Instead you have to go to the company website to read an online manual.

Positives:
-Great looking sleek design
-The screen is really 17". Everyone is familiar with monitors that are supposedly 17" but the screen is only 16.5", 16.8", etc.
You are not cheated.
-I didn't have to do much display positioning when I got the monitor. Sometimes with new monitors you have to do some fiddling around with the horizontal and vertical positioning in order to get the screen to look just right. I didn't have to do any of that.
-No dead pixels

Like I said before, I purchased the Envision EN-7100E monitor based on the fantastic reviews and the price but I'm extremely disapointed. I thought I could live with the negative features but I can't. Everytime I look at the screen it hurts my eyes. Either because the glare is too bright or the horrible distortion of the text.
I know I'm in the minority with my opinion on this product but I'm afraid I can't recommend it to anyone.
I'm sending mine back and I will be looking for another LCD monitor or possibly I will go back to a CRT.
Unfortunately if I get another LCD monitor, I will have to spend much more but as someone said before in referring to this monitor, you get what you pay for.
Getting a monitor better than this one and having to pay more is worth the investment.

Summary: Low cost .. high value winner!!
Review: After deciding to take the plunge and purchase a LCD flat screen monitor, I of course tried to find the the best unit for the least amount of money. I'll start by saying that I found AMAZON's return policy the best insurance I never needed, I had visions of dead pixels or compatibility issues ALL were for naught!
After unpacking this striking monitor i simply pluged it in to both power and my pc and behold pure plug and play!
No stuck pixels just a brilliant crystal clear screen.
I know I have not had this item for long in fact less than a week but I know of at least 2 associates who purchased similar monitors from a dedecated PC Superstore that were stuck with dead pixels.
I highly encourage anyone interested in a LCD moniter to give this unit serious consideration.

Summary: This LCD is a GREAT value
Review: I've been looking for a good, but cheap LCD monitor for a while, but never found one with the combination of both good and cheap. In fact, the cheapest one I'd seen was around [$$$] (a lot of 15" LCDs go for more than this). I have a 17" KDS RAD 7c which I really love, but I bought it [at a local store] so I could take it back if I didn't like it. I paid [$$$] for it and considered it a good deal.

So, the other day when I was surfing for great deals, I stumbled on this Envision monitor that sold for [$$$] after [$$$] rebate. I couldn't pass it up, but was a little afraid of buying one on the internet where I couldn't take it back easily if it had bad pixels, etc. Anyway, I took the plunge and I'm very, very happy.

Two things that anyone buying this monitor should strongly consider doing:

1. Use the video cable provided with the monitor. I had one already attached to the video card on my computer so just hooked it to the lcd monitor. Couldn't understand why there was ghosting. Then I remembered another reviewer saying that picture on his monitor improved when he removed the video cable extension on his computer. Using the new cable can really make a difference.

2. Change the fonts to "ClearType" which is meant for LCD screens. Simply navigate to the Display properties, choose the Appearance tab and click on the Effects button. Choose ClearType fonts and you'll also improve your picture.

Unless you have to have DVI (I thought I did, but I don't with this great monitor), you really should consider choosing the Envision EN-7100E.
