Rating: Summary: Easy as 1-2-3-4 Review: 1. Buy it 2. Unpack it 3. Plug it in 4: Enjoy. This wonderful monitor is a true plug-and-play. I have been trying to think of some criticism so the review won't sound brainless, but there is absolutely nothing about the 1550v that's not top notch. The picture is bright and clear, the copy is crisp, the size is perfect, and I am running out of new ways to say, I just love this!
Rating: Summary: Great Flat Panel Monitor Review: After doing some research and looking at various monitors I decided on the NEC 1550V. For the price it is an excellent deal and seemed to perform the best. When I first saw the model the 1550v replaced, the 1530v, in the store I was amazed at the picture quality. This monitor shares that same excellent picture quality. Setup was a snap and the picture is incredible. Vibrant colors, even backlighting and quick refresh all make this monitor a joy to use. I have had no problems using it with work applications and the screen is fast enough to use with games as well (though I am not a hard-core gamer, it definitely seems fine to me). I've noticed less eye strain and fatigue using this LCD for long periods of time. All in all, a great deal and I will never go back to a CRT. Highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: Great Value Review: After parting with my iMac and moving to the world of PC, I was afraid that I would never find similar quality in a non-Apple LCD screen. This monitor proved me wrong. Sharpness and clarity and a price I could afford. You won't go wrong by buying this!!
Rating: Summary: A nice looking monitor for the money Review: After returning my Sylvania LCD monitor for dying out, I paid and extra [X] for the NEC 1550V. The monitor set up easily and neatly tucks power cords out of the way. The graphics are sharp and the text was a little fuzzy. Within one week I started getting dead pixels and immediately returned it for a refund.
Rating: Summary: Excellent monitor Review: Excellent monitor, no dead pixels. I used super saver shipping - received the monitor in 3 days.
Rating: Summary: Maybe just a lemon?? Review: Failed right out of the box. Backlite uneven... screen darker towards the top 1/3 regardless of viewing angle. Screen/image started fluttering badly after just a few minutes. NEC tech. support's conclusion... DOA. However, in the few minutes it did work it was obvious that the speed of the screen was quite good in comparison to the LCD1530V. But furthermore, unless this particular unit was really screwed-up even when it did work, the LCD1530V has much better brightness and VERY EVEN backliting and a much better physical build quality... it just doesn't have the speed.
Rating: Summary: Calling all Gamers!!! Review: Gamers! Don't buy flat screen monitors! If you think that the clarity of the picture is good, that is true, but there is a terrible outcome of getting a flat panel monitor. Don't expect to get good picture if you even do without having the game crash, if you want to raise the resolution. On a flat panel, it is has godlike clarity, but you can not raise the resolution in games. You can raise the resolution on your desktop, but not in games. I did not know this until a kid that went to my computer camp last summer experienced this problem in quake 3, and then Unreal Tournament, and then Serrious Sam. So gamers, I am warning you. Do not make the same mistake that this kid made, and don't get any flat panel monitor. The people that will love this monitor are people that need it for their office at work or home, for space saving reasons, and multimedia nerds that watch lots of movies, DVD's, Divx, etc. Graphics designers will also love this monitor, but all graphics designers know that they should have either a flat panel monitor or a 20 inch crt monitor. Once again, gamers, don't get flat panels. Everyone else, this is an excelent, affordable, space saving flat panel monitor, and it has godlike picture clarity! Everyone besides gamers that are in the flat panel market right now should buy this monitor! Don't walk, but run! Run like the wind to your nearest retailer and buy this monitor!!!
Rating: Summary: Nice Monitor but mine was defective Review: Had it for 9 months now, nary a complaint. Great viewing, vibrant colors, same area as a 17" CRT monitor. I had a 15" CRT previously and this blows it away. Have had no pixel burnouts, only a couple of strange episodes with horizontal lines, may be due to temp or moisture (I live in gulf coast TX--it doesn't GET any more humid!). But no lasting effects, 99% of the time it's perfect. Buy it!

Rating: Summary: Great monitor for standard home and office applications Review: Have no complaints about this affordable LCD monitor. Setup was a breeze with Win98. No dead pixels after three months of use. I use primarily for web browsing and office applications. I have not played any fast-paced action games, which I have heard give some LCD monitors problems. If shoot'em-up style games aren't on your agenda I would heartily recommend this monitor.
