Summary: Outstanding, indeed
Review: Superior picture at an extremely good price for a 19 inch LCD monitor--in digital mode it is better than any CRT I have ever seen--extremely bright, clear and sharp. Blacks are deep, invisible blacks and whites are stunningly bright. No dead pixels. Speakers sound pretty good as monitor speakers go. Some minor minuses: auto picture adjust is slow (can be annoying if you use with a switch box/kvm to switch between computers), no documentation on cable hookup (had to play around to learn how to expose back panel cable inputs), back panel cable covers are akward and do not snap on securely.

Summary: Am I dreaming or is this what I am seeing?
Review: The clarity of this LCD is amazing. This is as close to perfect as any LCD can get at this price. I ran at full resolution and never looked back. I've compared and tested this out against others at the local retail store; the testing wasn't that great because the PC was too slow but it was enough to sample. What made the difference was the 3 year warranty that Viewsonic provides, competitive pricing and most importantly the performance.

I traded my Viewsonic P95F 19inch flat monitor-the best 19in there is- for the clarity of this LCD without significant degradation in gaming performance. I connected to my Geforce 4 DVI slot. I notice it was not as fast as a CRT but the response time and framerate was more than acceptable for gaming(Serious Sam 2, Max Payne or Quake 3 Arena). This LCD is should be the threshold of LCDs to come. There's no turning back to CRT.

I'm not going to worry too much about this LCD because it's got a 3year warranty for an item this pricey. I like it because I an stay up longer at night with my work.I won't suffer as much eyestrain. Second, the machine doesn't eat up too much power;only 40 watt and the transistors in the LCD is suppose to last about 4 years. I didn't even bother to hook up the LCD speakers. This is a product you can go wrong. This item is INSANELY GREAT and it pleases me very much.

Summary: Quite impressed
Review: The image quality on this monitor is very nice.
Setup took about 5 minutes. Have the PC and Monitor off, connect cables, turn on monitor then PC.. done.. that's all that I had to do :)

There is an option for a wall mount if you are into that. You would have to get that separately though.

Not having a side to side swivel might be a bad point for some people out there, but it matters not at all to me.

Having both a DVI and an RGB connector, you can easily connect 2 computers to this monitor and toggle between them just switching between analog and digital.

Note: Any LCD will have a "native resolution" .. this is the resolution that everything will work best at for that monitor. I would suggest running your systems at that resolution.

As an avid gamer, I was concerned with ghosting and such going from a CRT to an LCD. I was pleasantly surprised that accept for some instances on first person shooter type games with real fast action, I did not notice any ghosting. Another thing to look for is color bleed on LCDs. I play several RPG and MMO games that have pretty graphics on them, and I was concerned that I might lose some of that sharp beauty. To date, I have not noticed any bleed and if anything... the graphics actually look sharper. That is more than likely tied to me playing at 1280x1024 on this 19" LCD as opposed to 1024x768 on a 17" CRT.

Note to CRT users going to an LCD: There is a huge savings in energy used and more importantly (to me) heat generation. The ambient temperature in my office went from 10 degrees warmer than the rest of the house to only about 3 degrees warmer (have 2 computers and replaced a 17" CRT).

One last note: To the person who was complaining about the monitor not going to 1600x1280... if you are looking for a 19" LCD that will do that, you need to quit looking in the middle and low ranges. You are looking at $1100 or more to get into a decent 19" LCD that can handle that resolution at this time.

Summary: Great Monitor
Review: The price on Amazon is very good, and my monitor was delivered in just three days! And the monitor is terrific, much better than I expected. I'm seeing details in games that I never noticed before. The difference in brightness and contrast from my old CRT is astonishing. Now I want that TV tuner gadget that will let me hook up my X-Box to this monitor.

In addition to the monitor you get all the cables you need for either analog or digital connection, a Quick Start Guide, and a CD with an Adobe Acrobat manual that explains how to use the On Screen Display--it's very easy and user friendly.

My monitor is connected to a two year old, NVIDIA TNT2 graphics card, analog only, but it still looks great.

Summary: ViewSonic VX900 vs Samsung 191T
Review: The ViewSonic VX900 and Samsung 191T are the top 2 19" LCD Monitors found in many "Top Picks" lists out there today.

Before purchasing my 2 VX900s, I did my homework and read through many reviews and comparisons. Clearly, these 2 monitors from ViewSonic and Samsung topped the list. Why did I go with the ViewSonic?

Image quality on the ViewSonic is impeccable compared to the Samsung. Although the viewing angle is slightly less on the Viewsonic 159 vs 167 degrees, the contrast ratio on the ViewSonic is much higher... 600:1 vs 500:1 for the Samsung. This higher contrast ratio makes a world of difference. If you place both monitors side by side, you will see a noticeable difference between the two. The Viewsonic displays characters much sharper/vivid. I based my decision to buy the ViewSonic based on this image quality alone. The ViewSonic VX900 soundly outperforms the Samsung 191T in this regard.

The ViewSonic is not perfect, however. The sound quality from the built-in speakers is satisfactory at best. I ended up getting a pair of Altec Lansing speakers and bypassing the inferior built-in speakers.

For those who are setting up a dual monitor configuration should note that the border around the VX900 screen is 1.25". Dual monitors placed side by side would have a 2.5" gap between them.

I am very satisfied with my purchase and would recommend the ViewSonic VX900 to anyone who is looking for a 19" LCD with the highest quality image/picture.

Summary: A great monitor!
Review: This is an outstanding monitor with fantastic image quality. I've used 19" flat screen Trinitron CRT's exclusively for the past few years, and was skeptical about flat panel displays, but this one changed my mind. Beyond the superior image quality, it's also great to have a viewable image that equates to a 21" CRT but with 1/2 the footprint. I checked out flat panels by Sony, Samsung, HP, Compaq, etc., but this one blew them away. It's a bargain to boot, with a price that compares to competitors' 18" and 17" models. I'd intended to buy a 17" myself, but when I saw the image quality and price of the VX900, I was hooked.

Summary: Very Pleased
Review: This is one great LCD. Excellent quality and performance. I have it sitting next to a 19" sony hd400 crt and it"s hard to see a difference in picture sharpness. I run a gainward g4 ti4600 and have the twinview setup so I can really compare the performance. The only drawback is the "ghosting" that occures in High fps games. In flight sims, you notice it alot more. In first person shooters like Americas Army, it's only noticable when panning and then not very bad. This is not untypical of LCD's. However with this monitors 25ms response time, it is one of the best. I did contact viewsonic about the ghosting and was pleasently suprised by their quick and proffesional response. I would not hesitate to recommend this monitor.

Summary: Thank You Viewsonic ......
Review: Well, I was ready to be disappointed based on my previous experience with an Envision 17" Flat Panel, but thank you Viewsonic. You have restored my faith in LCD's. Using the VX900's digital connection I was pleasantly surprised to find it as sharp, if not sharper than my old 21" CRT and NO dead pixels (yeah!). Text looks very crisp and actually looks great without turning on Microsoft's Cleartype Font Smoothing. Brightness is definitely not a problem. I actually had to turn down the brightness settings because the whites were "snow blinding" me. DVD Playback is also excellent and ghosting is at a minimum primarily due to the fast response time this display has...a true 25 milliseconds. As far as the built-in speakers go, I haven't used them, so I will not comment. Regarding general setup, the VX900 came with all the required cables for hookup using either an Analog or Digital video signal. And for icing on the cake, the VX900's silver and black case is one of the coolest I have ever seen. Very stylish. It will dress-up any desk you place it on.
