Summary: So-so quality; but I got my rebate check
Review: It's frustrating for me to read useless reviews from people who either do not have the product or trash companies for allegedly not sending them the rebate check. First of all, you should never buy a product based on rebate promises, because if your rebate form gets lost in the mail, they are not responsible. Second, as the recent Dilbert cartoon points out, rebate items probably have inflated prices anyway.

In the case of the Kogi L4AX I got my rebate check after a little over two months. I followed the instructions very closely, and sent in both the invoice and the packing slip and carefully circled the monitor, the price I paid, Amazon's name, and the purchase date. I also made a copy of everything just in case.

Now about the monitor. This is definitely a cheap monitor, both in image quality, construction, and the after-rebate price. I'll be honest: this is not worth the original, inflated price. The rebate is a must if you were to buy this monitor. While 14" of viewable space is not bad -- at 1024x768 (native resolution) you get razor-sharp text -- this monitor has viewing angles narrower than even Kogi's own 17" offerings (which lag behind rival products from NEC, Sharp, etc.). Color saturation is actually not bad, as you get red reds and blue blues, unlike many of the KDS LCD monitors I've seen at higher prices. The response time (i.e., the time required to draw each pixel) is pretty slow, evidenced by the ghost trails when you play games. But, for those on a budget and with a tight desktop space, this is a good choice, provided, once again, on your getting the rebate. If you can spare a bit more money, go with a 15" or bigger. My recommended brands are NEC/Mitsubishi (best quality and good value), Sharp (expensive, though), Eizo, and ViewSonic.

Summary: Not the best...but for the price with rebate ok
Review: Letters are not crisp on the screen. There are little white dots that appear near the top of the screen. It's in the kids' room, and these defects don't seem to bother them.

Summary: I don't know about buying this monitor....
Review: My family recently purchased this monitor for the home computer. Since the price was at around $200 it seemed like a great deal. The only problem is that the monitor is made very slap-dash and cheap. While the monitor worked as expected for quite a while; after about 6 months, the screen went completely dim (barely able to see anything on the screen). Fortunately, there happens to be a LIMITED warranty on the LCD monitor, but who really wants to deal with the hassle of shipping a large item out of pocket for it to get serviced. If the montior did not fail so soon, it would have been an excellent purchase. Therefore, be careful buying this model from KOGI because it might break and cause a lot of inconvenience.

Summary: Low cost Space saving
Review: My monitor was acting very strange this morning after 8 months of working fine. I quickly and easily found the Kogi web site and there found an answer to my problem (a split screen and strange dots) and easily fixed it. This monitor is located in a kids' room where there is little space and lots of abuse. So small and cheap is perfect for me and that's what this monitor is. So far the thing has held up, even with the problem this morning. I paid surprising little for this monitor at Amazon with a rebate and I'm happy with it as of today. I'm kind of surprised the other reviews are so negative.

Summary: Functional On Campus
Review: No, this isn't the best flat panel monitor out there. I purchased this monitor due to my restricted amount of space that is also referred to as my dorm room. The quality is more than adequate for all of my uses which tends to be browsing the internet and word processing. Don't buy this monitor if your life centers on playing video games; buy this monitor if you're looking to maximize your meager living quarters while minimizing the impact on your back pocket.

Summary: Actually 3 1/2 stars
Review: Pluses are:

1) low cost -... and free shipping
2) small footprint - some people actually need a small LCD
monitor
3) fairly bright display
4) fairly good resolution
5) plug and play - works right out of the box

Minuses are:

1) small size - some people need a larger monitor.
2) very limited vertical viewing angle of about + or - 20 degrees
3) unknown quality level of tech support

Overall for (the money) the value cannot be beaten. Perfect monitor for child's computer, tight spaces, or limited budget but not suitable for the graphics professional.

Review: Purchased this product. Two months later it stopped working. Tried everything. Took quite some time to diagnose that the problem was in fact the monitor. I was getting ready to ship to Kogi to get it fixed when I decided that I'd give it one more try. It now works again so I've bumped my rating up from 1 to 3 Stars.

Summary: Outstanding Monitor
Review: The clarity is so awesome that the tiny 14 inch screen is clearer at 1024 x 768 resolution than my CRT 17 inch monitor was at 800 x 600 resolution! (...) The color is so crisp and clean that it makes everything look FANTASTIC! Did I mention how crisp and clean the type is? TOTALLY AWESOME!
