Review: After having carefully shopped for a 17 inch flat panel display since Christmas, the moment I saw this one I knew it was what I had been looking for. I upgraded to a new computer last week, but as much as I am an HP junkie, I could not buy their second rate flat panel in good conscience. I had originally wanted one with built-in speakers, but when I got a look at the clarity and brightness (500:1 contrast ratio) of this new model, I quickly changed my mind. It is an incredible value for the money, and the rebate currently offered by Sony makes the deal even sweeter. I am convinced that this model is by far the best flat panel in its class and I would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone.

Summary: Don't Waste Your Money $$$$ on this piece of Junk
Review: I bought this flat panel believing that Sony produced high quality electronic goods. Boy was I disappointed, as soon as I took it out the box I notice a dead pixel in the upper right hand corner of the screen. I took back and exchanged it for another unit. The manager at Compusa, warned me that Sony won't consider it a defect unless there were at least 20 dead pixels in the center of the screen, so if the second unit is defective he couldn't do any thing for me. I get home and install the replacement monitor, and "Bam!" another dead pixel, this time in the center of the screen. Sony is junk and produce junk. Don't Buy!!!!!

Summary: Have seen better
Review: I bought this lcd in gray. Thought it's gona be a fine monitor for digital imaging. It came with one defective pixel. The warranty does not cover the repairing of that. Only if there's more than four bad pixels. Redicolous. It's a nightmare to look on the monitor every time you peer on it, you see that little pixel vibrating in your eyes at almost the center of the screen.
I don't know how can Sony let such crap out of their factory. I'm sure they testing them, but then why don't they repaire it.
Otherwise i've seen better lcd-s. Over all i was not facinated by the colors, contrast, it's not better than avrage. The coated screen still doesn't help if you wiew it from angles. Colours vary upon the angle you view the monitor. Those who are a bit serious about their monitors, still should by a good crt, or a viewsonic lcd, instead of that. Don't let the nice design and the famous brand cheat you, it still just a monitor.

Summary: not disappointed
Review: I don't think you will be disappointed with this monitor. I absolutely love mine. I shopped around for months before deciding to purchase this one. You know, $550 is not pocket change. I also am an avid Linux user, and I haven't had any issues with Linux drivers and this monitor. The color saturation is great. The clarity is phenomenal. I am very happy that I purchased this Sony monitor.

Review: The contrast is not like anything I have seen. This baby rocks. No ghosting in games brighter than my sony GDM500 21The colors are fabulous. No more "heater" in my office and no more radiation. This monitor is also beautiful so its a real winner. I plan on the 19" version as well. Buy it you wont be dissappointed. Only down side i could give it is no dvi imput
but picture is fabulouse so no big deal

Summary: Quality of a Plasma
Review: The quality of this monitor is amazing. I purcased the Limited Dark Blue Edition off of Sonystyle.com. The qualiy is simply amazing. It is definetly worth the extra $$$. However I would reccomend the 15 inch version for the typical user.

Summary: Good resolution but broken within 2 months
Review: this monitor has good resolution and contrast ratio...however, the screen turned complete white and blank after just 1.5months of use. i ended up switching back to my old CRT monitor and it worked fine...call up sony and was told they can only send me a refurbished monitor because its more than a month since purchase..and there you go, I lost $100 value in less than 2 months...i am very disappointed with the quality of the monitor.

Summary: Good resolution but broken within 2 months
Review: This monitor is attractive and has a beautiful picture. I don't play fast action games so I can't vouch for its performance there. But my strategy games work great. Re - the reviewer complaining about dead pixels - do not buy such an expensive item from a place where it can't be sent back.
