Summary: buying my second one now
Review: almost a year ago i bought this monitor to be used together with my dell in a dual monitor setup. right away this one took over as the primary. i love this monitor for gaming... the Ultrabrite toggle button is great for brightening up a dark FPS with the simple press of a button (no having to go into the game menu). Now im finally springing for a second one to completely replace my dell so that both monitors will match. I honestly could not ask for a better monitor. (well i guess if flat panels ever get to be responsive enough to game seriously with thatd be nice... but thats a ways off and out of the budget)

Summary: Great monitor for the size and price
Review: For those of us who still believe that CRT give superior image quality (Which is still true compared to LCDs), this Viewsonic monitor is great. The image is crisp and clear with little distortion, the color quality is unmatched, and its easy to set up. Also, the refresh rate is great. Given the fact that's pure flat, the image has no glare at all. I would say not buy it from Amazon.com though cause I bought mine 6 months ago for $225. After a $50 MIR, it was $175. Find this deal and this monitor is a perfect fit.

Summary: Piece of junk!
Review: I didn't have time to do online shopping - the monitor that this was supposed to replace conked out on me the day before a paper was due. I ran to Fry's, got this monitor because I couldn't afford a flat-screen (and there were a dearth of CRTs) This was the best value for money - or so I thought.

Four months into it, the monitor starts shutting itself off. This is a big problem, so I call up Viewsonic - it's under warrenty but I have to ship it to them. This costs $40 UPS. Then, I get it back - not a week later, but the horizontal size is messed up (flickering from thin to wide, thin to wide) and since I use this for graphics work, it's a crapfest.

I bought a used Gateway monitor from Goodwill, and I'll ride that horse for as long as it'll take me. This blows - I want my money back. If anyone wants to start in on a class action lawsuit, let me know.

Summary: A complete rip-off
Review: I paid over $300 for this monitor in 2003 and it worked great for the first 4 months. Then it started to flicker on and off and then completely stopped working. I fixed it myself to get it in working condition, but now the picture is all distorted. From what I hear, ViewSonic will not support this and you have to "buy" the schematics to even let a technician look at it. In my opinion, I could've spent my $300 on a different monitor instead of having to use my crappy backup 15" monitor.

Summary: Nice overall
Review: I've been using this monitor for about 3 months now. The picture quality is great and the UltraBrite mode is useful when gaming. There are, however, a couple things I don't like about it. 1) When the monitor is turned off, it will produce what sounds like audio feedback for a few minutes. It's not loud but it is disturbing the first time you hear it. 2) If you are a HAM radio operator who likes 2m, don't bring this monitor into your shack: It produces a lot of interference around 146Mhz..probably right on top of your favorite repeater output.

Summary: Terrible!
Review: I've had similar problems with this monitor. I've had it for less than a year, and it's begun the "turning itself off and on over and over again" behavior, complete with lovely horizontal "static" lines that make the monitor unusable. I'd hoped to save a few bucks getting a CRT instead of an LCD. I won't be doing that again!

Summary: Nice screen, but slightly distorted geometrics
Review: This monitor has good specs for the money. And in the past, I've had good experiences with ViewSonic products.

However, as soon as I connected and calibrated this monitor, I noticed that all horizontal lines "bowed" in the middle. The top bar of a window was noticably curved.

I know flat-screen CRTs have some issues with showing accurate geometrics, and the curve I saw may have been tolerable to some. However, to me it was unusable. Returned the monitor and bought a smaller (but straight!) LCD.

Summary: Item performs far less than stated
Review: This product is the worst crt monitor i have EVER used there are many terrible problems with this monitor including user settings not staying ,color drives erratically changing, text becoming blurry, and color spots (incorrect magnetism of phosphorus coating). The customer support and repair/replacement options are even worse. This company has the worst bureaucracy i have ever dealt with! I highly recommend you NEVER buy a product from viewsonic you will only end up getting SCREWED ROYALLY!
