Summary: Okay for a 21" flat screen
Review: After you've been using a lesser monitor, any 21" flat screen is heaven. That's how I felt when I first bought the KDS AV-21TF. It was so much better than my old curved-screen Iiyama 21" monitor.

A nice thing about the KDS monitor is that it can easily manage a resolution of 1600x1200 at a flicker-free 85 Hz. It also has a very comprehensive set of on-screen controls for fine-tuning the image, including good adjustments for color in the corners. (I strongly recommend spending the time to adjust a new monitor - you can always get a significantly better image.)

But after seeing this monitor next to some others (the Dell Trinitron P991 19" flat screen, and the NEC FP1370 22" flat screen), the image on the KDS monitor seems dull and grayish in comparison). On my dual-monitor system, I tend to drag documents from the KDS to the NEC when I do a lot of reading.

The worst point is the control buttons. I've worked with a lot of monitors, and I've never seen such a counter-intuitive button design. It's very frustrating to spend 20 minutes getting the monitor settings just right, only to accidentally press the monitor's reset button and lose all of your work.

Summary: I love it!
Review: I finally moved up from my measly 15 inch monitor, and this is a beauty. Flat screen, beautiful color, high resolution, and easy on the eyes. Oddly, its footprint isn't much different than my 15 inch, so it doesn't take up much more surface area on my desk. I spend hours a day on the computer, so this monitor is a godsend. Reading black text on a white background is excellent (the white isn't *too* white and it doesn't glare), and reading white on black is good. The only slight complaint I have is a small patch of discoloration in the lower left corner; it has a slightly yellowish tint. But it's small, and with over 20 inches of viewable image, you can't see the discoloration unless you look for it.

Summary: Very nice monitor
Review: I just hooked up this monitor and love it. It is trully flat and has improved my computing experience significantly because of the sheer size of the monitor. I had to pull my desk out from the wall a little because 21" monitors are so large, but I find I can comfortably sit much further away from the monitor as well. Even from a distance, text and graphics are easy to see. After a minute or so, I masterd the controls on the front of the monitor and quckly fine tuned the display. Now I experience rich colors, great contrast and crisp lettering. I run dual monitors and find that it is capable of much richer and finer displays then my 19" Dell running along side it. There are better out there I'm sure, but if you get a good deal on this monitor you won't be sorry.
