Rating: Summary: Great for gaming Review: I've been using this monitor for about 10 months. I use the internet alot, and the text is clear and easy to read. I don't like the refresh rates at resolutions higher than 1280 x 960, but that's high enough for me. After using this monitor, I'm spoiled ot the point where I can't use any monitor samller than 17 inches, and can barely manage even that. The thing is preferctly flat, very bright and just HUGE! While I do love the screen size, if physical space is a factor, look elsewhere. I went to this from a 17 inch SyncMaster 753DF, and the 2 inches in added screen size added about 6 inches of depth! Anyway, this thing rocks for games, I like it for movies, and don't really have any complaints.
Rating: Summary: Extreemly GOod Deal (Jump on This ASAP!!!!) Review: I am a constant gamer, up to 18 hours a day. I built my own computer and chose this monitor to be the crown on my queen. This is one of the best monitors i have seen in a while, and for the price it is absolutely excellent. I highly suggest you buy this monitor before the go out of production/stock/whatever.
Rating: Summary: Run, Don't Walk Review: As a computer professional I have purchased hundreds of monitors over the past 10 years. I have never purchased a worse one that this. I see that many of the problems I experienced have been documented by others here. I'll recap:1. Blurry text. It was almost unreadable at the edges of the screen 2. I had the choice of the screen looking like this ( ) or ) (. No amount of playing with the controls would change it. 3. The top left corner was "scrunched" and again, nothing could fix it. 4. The whole screen was rotated about 5 degrees. And as with everything else, it could not be fixed. Run, don't walk, away from this monitor. The one and only redeeming feature is the price.
Rating: Summary: Terrible Monitor Review: Any (and I mean any) other monitor would have been a better purchase. The test is ridiculously fuzzy at any setting. Any Trinitron based flat screen would beat this POS hands down. I can only run 1280 X 1024 at 60hz otherwise there is a very noticable "bounce" in the screen. The graphics are fuzzy and overall I am VERY disappointed in the purchase of this.
Rating: Summary: I Love this monitor.... This is the Best in the world~! Review: I am working in the company related with computer networking. So, I used a lot of monitors(dell, Sony 21', ViewSonic..) This is much better than others. I love this... This one has the highlight option. The design is very good and quality is excellent....
Rating: Summary: A very nice monitor Review: This is a very nice monitor. I'm a gamer, a video editor, and a web developer. I spend quite a bit of time on the computer every day and I've been using this monitor for over 2 years and it has been flawless. For the price there is NO comparison. I have 2 of these monitors and I would strongly suggest buying this monitor if your looking for an easily affordable tube monitor.
Rating: Summary: Read The Reviews!!! Fuzzy Text is Coming!!! Review: I have had this monitor for 2 years and the text is unreadable unless you have it set 1t the lowed DPI and the refresh rate low. so beware!
Rating: Summary: One very big problem Review: My coating is wearing off. My monitor is 3 1/2 yrs old and they won't fix it. I watched as each time I wiped my screen, once a month or less, that a small line appeared. That has spread to a hole about 2" square almost in the middle of the screen, It now feels like I am looking through a picket fence to see my work, bobbing my head and moving things up and down so the hole is out of the part I am looking at. I have to buy a new one because of this hole, but not Samsung. Carl
Rating: Summary: Poor Quality Review: I've had a 955DF for almost 3 years now. The first one was nice except for some blurring as someone mentioned in another review. It lasted about 4 months before the coils(?) began to fail and it emitted a very high pitched squealing noise whenever booting or rebooting. Low refresh rates? The first replacement was physically different and lasted about 4 months before failing exactly as the first. They changed the monitor and made it the "budget" model at some point from when I payed $464 for mine, and 2002 when they were about $200. The new version is of much lower quality across the board so I wind up with a $200 budget monitor that I payed $464 for when it was a mid-top of the line model and was indeed a much better monitor. Today, I received my 2nd replacement monitor from Samsung (my 3rd 955DF in this fiasco). This one is absolute garbage. the coils are going bad and squealing right out of the box!!! The screen has dark cloudy spots on it and the right side of the screen is about 3/8 of an inch shorter than the left. This can not be adjusted out. Imagine a rectangle, then shrink the right side so the top horizontal line falls 3/8 inch down and you get my new monitor. The first version of this monitor (the one with a pull out, hide-away tray with the buttons on it like the image on this page, not buttons right on the front) was OK but with the defective coils that it STILL has in the newer version. The new version is cheap, budget junk and will most likely fail much sooner than you would expect because Samsung is still using the cheap, defective components. Run away from this monitor. Any no-name cheapo will be as good or better, unless you can get the old 2000 model.
Rating: Summary: Very nice monitor for the price Review: I'm a network engineer and have worked with Many different monitors and I really like this one. I spend approximately 12-16 hours a day working on computers. At work I have a Sony 19" which is GREAT (But cost a LOT more) and I use this Samsung at home (about 30 hours a week). I use this monitor for web design, graphics, and everything else a network engineer does. I like this monitor enough that today I'm here to buy another one for my dad. I've recommended this monitor to several of my friends. One friend bought the same monitor and is also pleased. I don't know what else I could say. It's not perfect but it's definitely very nice and well worth the $$.
