Rating: Summary: Dissapointing - blurry text Review: Regretably I was influenced by many favorable reviews and bought this "professional grade" monitor. It does not fit the specifications claimed by manufacturer. Dot pitch is not .24 across entire monitor surface but rather increases considerably towards edges. Monitor is not even close to "totally flat" as stated by Nec-Mitsubishi. Not that I care, I just don't like being mislead. The worst of this model's faults is the blurry text at any resolution including the recommended one. My aging 4 year old monitor which this Mitsubishi was to replace outperforms it in every category except color at which the Mitsubishi really is good.
I am also on my second unit after having the first replaced after 1 day. I shall not keep this monitor and will have it replaced by one from another manufacturer.
Another weakness is this monitor's super sensitivety to any speaker / wireless / display unit that might be in it's neigbourhood - forcing the user to create a safety zone around work area.
In conclusion: unless all you do is watch dvd's and like to throw away money to people who don't take themselves seriously - STAY AWAY.
Rating: Summary: Very nice monitor, but with a few flaws... Review: Strengths:
Vibrant colors. Sharp text when used below 1600x1200. NaViSet calibration software allows easy and accurate adjustments. Compact case design for a 19" monitor helps save space.
Weaknesses:
Brightness strength of the monitor fades when too much white is on screen. The bright dims noticably and turns slightly yellower. Geometry of the top display isn't straight enough (slightly curved).
Summary:
Overall, a good buy and well designed monitor. But it does have a few flaws. The dimming problem happens when at least 50% of the screen is completely white (i.e. blank page). Not a big deal, but color accuracy may be impeded by the slight yellowing of the white. This isn't a problem for general images, since they don't have that much plain white. But I wish NEC/Mitsubishi gave it a stronger, more consistent tube. Especially when my monitor brightness is only set to 25%.
The NaViSet software is easy and intuitive to use. But I was never able to get perfect static convergence (horizontal or vertical). Therefore, the edges of the display shows slight "color ghosting." But it's good enough to not be noticable on images or text.
Also, the NaViSet software isn't able to adjust the slight curvature of the top edge of my display. So the top corners bend down 1-2 pixel lengths from the top center. I might be able to get an exchange for this small problem, but since it's only a slight curve, I'm thinking to save myself the hassle...maybe.
Rating: Summary: Other Guy Just Had Bad Luck Review: There is always a chance of getting a defective unit, the other guy just got very unlucky. I recieved mine and it worked famously. This monitor is pristine! Beautiful, clear, perfect. It looks great right out of the box with some minor tweaking. I couldn't be happier with this monitor. I had a top of the line 19" viewsonic, but this one blows it away. Refresh rates are quick and it is a great monitor. If you are into high end graphics or games, this monitor is for you. You can not find a better monitor in this price range. Major kudos to Amazon too. I ordered it on saturday with the "Super Savers" shipping and recieved it on Tuesday. If only all free shipping were that fast!
Rating: Summary: Good Monitor, but not "Pro"-quality Review: This is a good overall monitor, but it's not "Professional" quality as its name might suggest. While color reproduction is excellent, text can be a little fuzzy, especially if you switch to a higher brightness mode. There are also two thin horizontal lines running across the screen due to monitor's internal design. I don't really notice them on a dark background, but they are visible on a white background. It's very annoying to see this on a monitor with "Pro" label... A nice touch is the ability to adjust monitor settings via downloadable software. There is also ability to auto-adjust geometry and other settings to save you time and headache. To sum it up, if you are into graphic design or if you mostly work with office documents, you should look elsewhere. If you want a monitor for games and movies, this model will work great for you.

Rating: Summary: Great Grafix, lousy text, not heavy, hard wired signal cabal Review: This is exceptional in games and the SB mode is perfect on those bright sunny days when you want to leave the blinds opened and see your games even though the sun is glaring at you off of people's chrome plated pick up trucks. Text at a higher res is not so good, but for text 1024x768 is enough for me as I only use that aspect for writing and typing fiction stories(non-professional) using Office '03. If you use spread sheet or any lotus program you will need a higher res(and a larger monitor), as my Dad does. The casing is not at all heavy as with the bulky 21-24 inchers, it is not awkward either because it is relatively small and you can get your arms around it to lug it around when you are moving or some idiot Land Lord insists on putting new tile in your apartment living room(when you don't need it). The only problem I have is the VGA signal cable is hard wired rather than a detatchable unit. I have on many occaison jerked the monitor around on my office desk and had the cable catch on the hole in the desk where I put it and I cannot replace this cable as it is built in. If it ever goes, I will have to replace this monitor. Bare this in mind when you purchase a monitor not all of them have a separate signal cable anymore.
Rating: Summary: Excellent monitor Review: This is the best monitor I have used (outside of *very* expensive professional ones). Fantastic image. My one gripe is the noise of the transformer. There is a constant buzzing that NEC/Mitsu has indicated to me is "normal". In an office environment, one might not notice it. In my near-silent home office, it is starting to become annoying. Otherwise, this is an excellent display for the money.
Rating: Summary: Never worked Review: This monitor is brilliant. I've had several Sony Trinitrons. All different series. This monitor is the most crisp, color balanced, vivid color reproducing monitor I've ever seen. If you're in the market for a new CRT monitor, pick this one. You won't regret it.
