Rating: Summary: Wow! What a monitor...What a deal!!!! Review: I have had this monitor now for almost a month. I waited to write a review until I could put this little baby through the paces. I have to say, I'm mighty impressed with it. I don't know who it was that says you can't use LCD monitors for gaming or for editing images, but whoever it is they are all wet! This monitor's features make it "the" choice for both photo editing and gaming. I have all the newest games, I woun't even bother to list them all, just suffice it to say that I have gamed with Half-Life, Homeword 2, Crazy Taxi 3, Nascar Thunder 2004, Deer Hunter 2005, Battlefield: Viet Nam, Combat Flight Simulator, Drift, Attack Squadron, Ghost Master, Alice, Trophy Bass 4, And they and all the others were absolutely perfect!
As for image editing, using Ulead PhotoImpact 6 it was flaeless. Adobe CS 8 however needed me to set up a profile for the monitor. You need to go to the Envision web site and download the LCD monitor color profiles and install the one for this monitor under the desktop properties - settings tab - advanced button - color management tab. Then, you're set.
The Pivot software is good, but you need to update it after installing it. I deleted all the other pivot settings except 0 and 90 degrees as the others are useless for this monitor.
The pivot feature is very nice if you are editing photos that require it and it is almost a requirement, at least you'll think so, for viewing the web, especially just for reading news and such.
Technologically, the monitor's manufacture is superior. I have zeero dead pixels upon arrival. It is relatively easy to set up, but read the short instructions FIRST! The stand is of extremly sturdy construction. The pan and tilt feartures are very handy, and I don't know how I ever got along with the 17" CRT I had before. The accessories are OK but if you use the Pivot feature often as I do they are merely an annoyance. The tray that is the base of the monitor suffices for me, and I use it constantly.
Overall, I would say that this is a Superior product and for it to be offered under $300 is a true bargain. And, coupled with a three year manufacturers' warranty, a very good deal indeed.
Rating: Summary: A great buy! Review: A good monitor for the day to day computer user.
Obviously this wouldn't work for someone who is a gamer. But for everyday use, the picture is clear, and most importantly for my uses the text is crisp. The side to side pivoting action is nice, as is the small amount of tilt.
The design is a little clunky, the detachable pencil boxes that attach to the screen are a little silly, but this has no negative effect on the overall product.
We're using it with windows 98.
Rating: Summary: great great great Review: easy set up, auto settings, most clear at the highest resolution, but for me too small to see. i have had 3 evnsions and all have been good. get monitor for the price
Rating: Summary: Very Cool Review: I bought this monitor with my HP A630N at a popular office supply chain, Staples. I bought the monitor for $349.98. The picture quality is excellent. It includes Pivot Pro software. This monitor lets you rotate the screen 70 degrees side to side. I use it so it looks the same way a newspaper does. Once you turn the monitor like this you will never want to have it any other way. This feature alone makes the purchase worth while. Being able to tilt the screen also is a plus, along with the fact that it can be adjusted to be moved up and down. The base that is included is sturdy, but you can also mount it on the wall. The menu is good, and there is an autoconfig menu that sets the screen perfectly. I would by this monitor again. It is definitely recommended.
Rating: Summary: Great monitor Review: Out of the box it was clear and did not notice dead pixels. I just returned another monitor since it had too many dead pixels. The extra features e.g. note holder I did not use, but that is not the reason I bought this monitor.
Great value for its price.
Rating: Summary: Low Price. Acceptable Performace. Great Value. Review: Purchased this LCD from Amazon.com, The unit arrived without any dead pixels. The market standard of 3 dead pixels or less being acceptable is something I am not too fond of. I have to say that the screen isn't as bright as I had expected from the manufacturer's specifications. Another example of reading the tech specs with a grain of salt? Overall, a good valued display screen for users that doesn't seek high resolutions or unnecessary functions such as DVI.
As for the pen/flower holders on the sides of the screen...I call them "dust cups".
Rating: Summary: Excellent value Review: This monitor is an excellent value. I ordered it to replace my older 15" LCD so I can take advantage of the higher resolution. This display is brilliant, worked right out of the box after a reboot (it worked before reboot, but only at 1024x768). After the reboot, Win 2000 recognized the new display and offered higher resolutions.
The text is the clearest when set at 1280x1024.
No dead pixels from what I can see.
This is my second Envision LCD - don't hesitate with this one.
Rating: Summary: Excellent for the price: Review: This monitor is clear and sharp. For the price I am extremely happy with it. Not only did it increase my viewable area, but graphics on a few of the games I play were greatly improved. It arrived at my house with no flaws and surprisingly quick and free shipping.
My only complaint is: Where the screen meets the neck of the monitor is rather loose. If you don't have a very sturdy table (Which I will be purchasing soon) the monitor will shake slightly when you type. It would be nice to mount this monitor to the wall though which is also an option.
Rating: Summary: Great monitor, excellent price Review: We were very impressed with the quality of this monitor, especially given the very low price. All the adjustability and pivot feature is certainly not typical for such a low priced LCD.
