Summary: A really good monitor
Review: I have had the Samsung SyncMaster700NF for 3 weeks. Quite good one, sharp and accurate color, easy to tune, reasonable price.I bought this model after comparing with other brands (NEC,Viewsonic,Sony),I should say that Sony is the best ,but it does not worth that much, about 50 percent higher price.
The only shortcoming with 700NF is that there are two very thin horizontal lines on the screen it is said normal from the user manul, but they make me uncomfortable.

Summary: Best 17" monitor on the market
Review: I spent several weeks looking at every 17" monitor I could find in my local electronics chains stores, comparing MAG's, Viewsonics, Phillips, Sonys, NEC's, and a variety of cheaper brands. I have also used Dell, Compaq and Gateway house brand monitors in the past. This Samsung blows them all away in every category. It has the brightest, most vivid and most accurate colors of any monitor I have seen. Its text and other detailed displays are razor sharp and exceptionally readable and easy on the eyes. The screen has a very effective anti-reflective coating; the only minor criticism I have of this monitor is that the anti-glare coating makes the screen a bit difficult to clean. The electronic controls on the pull down control box are easy to use. This monitor is not only a premium performer, but has a reasonable price. You can buy monitors that are more or less expensive than this Samsung, but you can't buy one that has a better display or is a better value. I am more satisfied with this purchase than virtually any other (of several dozen) items of computer or electronic gear I have purchased in the past ten years.

Summary: Picture tube has a problem
Review: My personal experience:
I bought the Samsung SyncMaster 700NF monitor as it had excellent display resolution and I liked it.
The problem:
The display just goes blank, with the picture tube just not working. The LED on the front goes from solid green to blinking yellow.

I have taken this very heavy 40+ lbs monitor back an forth to the Samsung service center 4 times now and this problem has not been fixed, they even gave me a different monitor and this problem still exists. Not a good experience for me. Maybe I got lemons :(

Summary: Overall, a great monitor
Review: Overall, the monitor is very nice, the screen controls are all located on a retracting panel that is pretty intuitive. I run it at 1280x1024 with 16 bit color. Text is razor sharp and playing Flight Simulator on it will make you feel like you really are flying over the streets of Chicago. It will also display just as fine at 32 bit color, but the human eye can even distinguish beyond 16 bit, so 32 is just a waste of resources. (I will probably hear the wrath of a few die hard gamers over that last statement.) For people with many USB devices, Samsung has also built a USB hub (sold separately) that fits into the base of the monitor. The only two nitpicks I have about the monitor are that it does have a big footprint, I think the casing is a little bit bigger than it needs to be, and for some reason mine has two faint lines (I cant see them unless my nose is touching the screen) running horizontally about 1/3 and 2/3 up from the bottom. Its really only visible fainly when you are looking at something white, and it may be more of a fault of mishandling by UPS, but I just thought I'd share this tidbit, if anyone else has a similar problem, let me know. Other than that, this is a fine monitor, and the three year standard warranty make it a worthwhile purchase.
