Summary: One of the premeir 19inch non-flat monitors.
Review: If you are looking for a 19inch nonflat monitor. Look no furthur. At this price this monitor is your best bet. Clear, geometry is there, quality is stable, supports high resolutions, stable colors.

Obviously it isn't a flat monitor. Among 19 inch CRT's though this is the one to get. Especially at this price.

Highly recommended for those who are not looking for "flat" monitors.

Summary: Looks nice, quality not so nice
Review: Initially I posted a positive review, but I'm back after 3 month of owning this monitor. The first monitor I received had dead pixels on it. Amazon was kind enough to replace it. Well within 3 months my Samsung is flickering occasionally and becoming a general annoyance. I'm hoping for a 3rd replacement now. I think the picture quality is great, but the manufacturing quality is poor. And don't bother calling SamSung's Customer no-service line.

Summary: Stuff to keep in mind of
Review: No, the 950P isn't a "flat screen" or "near flat" screen monitor. What it is is a very good CRT type tube with exceptional text quality in a 19" size. I actually ordered a 955DF (see my review there) flat screen Samsung, and changed to the 950P when the 955DF didn't have the text quality I was looking for. Color quality in the 955DF seems to be more even across the screen for people interested in anything that is color qualtiy sensitive. I detect the edges of the 950P's screen to be slightly pink in undertones near the edges with white or gray backgrounds. Just a tiny bit, mind you. This is why I give it four stars. Colors could be more even across the screen. I see little else to knock this product on. If you play games, or use the computer for text based use, this is a fantastic monitor. It has Sony FD Trinitron quality text without the damper wire lines or $570.00 price. And no, I don't really miss the flat screen I saw with the 955DF. It doesn't effect what I need most, clear text definition. When the flat screens have as good a text as this monitor, and at the same price, I'll be interested. Until then, PC World was correct, this is a best buy in a 19" monitor

Summary: Best monitor in this price range
Review: Samsung over the past few years has become my favorite choice for monitors in terms of price and performance. You can find better monitors. You can find cheaper monitors. However if you want a good, reliable monitor and don't want to mortgage the house to pay for it - this monitor is for you. The 950P is the workhorse of the Samsung 'Professional Series' and the component quality is in line with monitors that cost a lot more. The overall quality is very good and the price is of course hard to beat.

What you get: Samsung's "Flat Square Tube" is reasonably flat and good for both graphics and text without being incredible at either. (Despite what the review says the super flat 'Dyna-Flat' tube is not used in this model.) The dot pitch is .26, which is about average. The recommended viewing mode is 1280 x 1024 at 85Hz which is well above average for this price range. You can go up to 1600 x 1200 at 75Hz if you want and still get a good crisp image. Above that the refresh rate isn't high enough for long-term use. You get good contrast and the anti-glare coating is above average. The controls are thorough but a novice might find them a little cryptic.

If you like the super-flat monitors take a look at the Samsung 955DF. It cost about $50 more and for that you get a perfectly flat screen, .20-millimeter dot pitch and a recommended 1280 x 1024 / 75Hz. I have played with this monitor and I love it. However not everyone likes these super-flat screens so you may want to check one out in a store before you buy.

Summary: Yuk
Review: You get what you pay for. On the plus side, this monitor has lots of controls, and they're easy to use. Also, the monitor comes with excellent docs and software for Wintel machines (I'm using a Mac). On the minus side, despite adjusting all of the controls, the monitor just doesn't seem very sharp. Most of the text, particularly in the corners, seems rather fuzzy. I suppose you shouldn't expect too much for the price. If you're looking for a large monitor to play games on though, this might be suit you.
