Summary: Great performance; fantastic bargain
Review: I'm very picky when it comes to monitors, so I was leery about buying a monitor from a company that I had never heard of and that had a price that just screamed "cheap!" I couldn't find any reviews in the computer magazines either. But in the end, the positive reviews here on Amazon ... convinced me to take the plunge.

Having used it for a few days now, I have no regrets. The easy to use "auto" function left the display perfectly focused and centered. It takes up less space than other 17" LCDs and is lighter. No dead pixels at all. And the monitor is so bright, it hurt my eyes, so I had to turn down the brightness to about 80% (first time that has ever happened...usually I max out the brightness on LCDs).

This monitor replaced a highly rated Samsung LCD that I sold when I moved overseas for a few months. It's at least as good as the Samsung (which I also loved), but much cheaper.

Do I have any quibbles? None!

Summary: I returned this monitor...
Review: I just returned this monitor because of problems that I've had with it. First, the picture was blurry. I tried changing the resolution but that didn't seem to help. I then tried contacting the Cornea technical support folks. The documentation that came with the monitor gave an email address for technical support. It's been over a week since I sent the email, and I still haven't heard back from Cornea. The other day was the last straw for me. I had a power outage at my house and the monitor went dead on me. Nothing else at home (linux server, firewall, laptop, etc.) had any problems coming back up, so I'm ruling out any sort of a power spike. I tested the electrical outlet after getting power back to make sure I was getting juice. There was nothing wrong with the outlet, but I wasn't able to get the monitor to power back up. I've gone back to my old monitor and am much happier with it after the experience I've had with this Cornea monitor.

Summary: Decent monitor on a budget, requires some patience
Review: I've had the monitor for a couple of weeks, and I'm quite happy with it...after tweaking it quite a bit....The installation program on the CD didn't go over too well with my computer (which is about 5 years old running Windows 98SE). After a couple of crashes, I installed the drivers through the Windows "add new hardware" utility, and now it works fine. At first the monitor was so bright it was hurting my eyes, and at 1280x960, text was way too small (then again it could be my crappy video card, since it turned out the same way for my old CRT). I knocked the resolution down a notch, did some manual fudging with the brightness and contrast, and now I've got something beautiful in my hands. The monitor has no dead pixels.

Performance: I ran a few simple "tests" to see how well the monitor holds up. Watched some video clips, didn't see any ghosting. Looked at web pages--clear, crisp text, nice colors. Played a little bit of Half-Life Uplink--images are noticeably brighter (Even with Gordon's flashlight on, I had to turn up the brightness all the way up on my old CRT and crank up the gamma all the way on my video card AND the game just to be able to look into dark corners ).

Aesthetically speaking, the monitor is a beauty--black and slim, yet sturdy. My only complaints are that 1)the base is a bit low and 2)it takes a bit more force than I'd like to adjust the angle, but these are minor concerns.

Considering everything, I highly recommend this monitor to the performance-conscious who are short on cash.

Summary: JUNK
Review: Buy from a reputable company, preferably one that you have heard of before like Viewsonic, Envision, Sony, KDS, these people have been around for a long time, and will be there for if you need them. I had a dead monitor shipped, the first time, and then when I did get a good one was not impressed at all with the image quality, or the cuastomer service, it went back too.

Summary: A+++
Review: I recently purchased this monitor and that was the best thing I did in a long time. The installation was easy and the monitor was up and running in no time. I had no problems since I have this great screen (3 month). I highly recommend a purchase. If you are looking for a not overpriced LCD monitor, the Cornea MP 704 should be your choice.

Summary: You get what you pay for...
Review: The low price and high contrast ratio (500:1) attracted me to this monitor, but I'd have to say that it is not a very versatile monitor. It does graphics well enough, but text and small pictures are very blurry unless you have it set at the full 1280X1024, and anybody who can read anything on a monitor with that resolution should seek therapy. I tried it for a couple of days and it gave me headaches, words were so small I had to have my face 3 inches from the screen to read anything. I returned the monitor, I don't need anymore eye strain than I already get at work.

Summary: nothing but a headache
Review: This monitor and Cornea have been nothing but a headache. I purchased this monitor back in January 2003 because of the low price and rebate and also because of the reviews here on Amazon. When the monitor arrived, it had 1 dead pixel. I tried to live with it. I sent the rebate info in to Cornea within 2 days of receiving the monitor and then waited until the end of April to get my lousy $50 back. This after dealing with lousy employees at Cornea who seemed like I was bothering them. Then I was told that the rebate company lost all the records. Not my problem, just get me my $50.
Then about 3 weeks ago, the monitor screen starts to turn white and at least 1000 pixels go dead. So I send the monitor back with the cables (to avoid any problems) and when the new monitor arrives today, there aren't any cables. So I call the not so friendly guy at tech support who tells me that it'll take another week to send me cables. I ask if he could do better than a week, he says no. I ask for a manager and then the phone goes dead.
After making another call to them, I get a guy on the phone who claims to be a manager and says he will send the cables via Fedex 3 day. No other options. I have to live with this.
This has been a major headache. Cornea has the potential to be a decent company but right now they are failing hard. And the reviews I have read here are really hard to believe.
My computer is a major source of income for me. Without it, I don't make money. So far, I have been without the monitor for at least 3 weeks and it will be another 3 days before I get the cables. This is not good.
As for the quality of the monitor, it starts off good and then gets slightly fuzzy. I am hoping that my new monitor will be better.
I have spent at least 10 hours dealing with the problems from this monitor. It is not worth my time. I will not be dealing with them in the future unless of course, this new monitor has a problem. Be advised, shop around.

Summary: Image color got lost
Review: I read the online review and thought it is a nice one. It turns out the image and text is fuzzy and make my eyes tired. When viewing photo image, many colors are missing even I set 32-bit true color. I am going to return this one.

Summary: Cornea MP704B 17
Review: i really wanted to like this monitor. it comes in a nice, sleek package and was very easy to set-up. color was acceptable, as well as response time. however, text was fuzzy no matter what i did to adjust. not terrible, but not as sharp as i had expected. in the end, this monitor went back to amazon (which still has the best return policy in the universe!). ...

Summary: Great
Review: Looked at all the discount stores, BB Sams etc could not match the quality, size or price. MP704B has an excellent picture for a great price. Very satisfied. Thinking of buying another.
